could we maybe get a wiki or something similar?  I know I tried linuxcoin for a minute and wasn't able to get it working and it might be easier if we had a wiki and faq.  (i had the issue where, in the start_mining script, I'd get a brief pop up window and then not much else).  Especially for those of use without a heavy or even light-moderate linux background, a wiki of infos could be very useful

I'm in violent agreement! I need a cogent reference that is in one location.

I'm on it you ball busting mofo's !! hahaha

Ty brwyatt !!

Just finished testing the PXE stuff and it works sweet and remote reboot works via ssh and on the local machine without changing anything in the configuration files. I have however changed the reboot stuff to do a cold reboot as requested.

Just going to type up the PXE auto start scripts and we are golden !

Still on 0.2a for the moment - but I don't think this will be 0.2a specific.

Having trouble dual card (6990 plus 6970). If I boot up with either I'm ok. If I boot up with both I get  the usual boot up messages, the splash screen, and then the screen goes blank with no cli. Do I need to change a setting in Xorg? If I do how do I get back to the cli?   Huh

Any ideas?

Boot up and hit

ctrl + F1

type

sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
aticonfig --initial -f --adapter=all
/etc/init.d/gdm restart

And hopefully you should see you desktop

I hit ctrl + F1 after the splash screen, nothing. Also tried just before splash, also nothing. Gotta be doing something wrong!

sorry missed alt Cheesy its

ctrl + alt + F1

Sorted! Thanks heaps drgr33n! More coinage for you.

Cheers again.

Please, I really don't understand why you keep on pushing to 700MB limit?
Today dvd's are cheaper than cd's & more over most are going to use only USB & 4 GB pen drive is less than 10 USD.
If you think uploading & hosting file will be a problem then there is bit torrent, parent of bitcoin.
If you want i can seed up to 2 months.
So, better go for not maximum, but best size, instead of just taking out stuffs for 700MB.

There already is a 0.2b torrent floating around from the bad version. Can you please increment this to 0.2c to avoid confusion?

lol dishwara Cheesy Nothing been removed don't worry. Just bloated out a bit with all the extras I needed to compile some of the stuff included.

Just testing a few more things as I don't want more issues Cheesy Then I'll upload.

You can check what ISO you have by checking the MD5 or SHA1 hash. I don't want to increment it to c yet as it's 0.2b but working Cheesy I'll put the question to you guys ?

You already have my vote. You're not skipping a version, you're releasing the next beta that is better than the last one.

I'm running .2b, so it'd be nice to see .2c. It doesn't make sense not to, it's not like you are going to run out of possible version numbers/letters.

I honestly don't care about the version numbers/backgrounds. All I really care about is the free operating system with everything built on that I can use in mass without a problem. Also, the fact that it's easy to use and don't really have to spend 3-4 hours configuring shit/tweaking it to make it the same.

Just my two cents.

Does it solve the problem ("kernel error") with the double GPU of the ATI 5970?

Is there a guide on how to install it?

Thanks

you can go for 0.2b1 instead of 0.2b, that will avoid some confusion as i still have 0.2a, & 0.2b in torrents.

Just inboxed you bud Wink

Everyone who wants to use the PXE stuff all scripts are in /opt/PXE. Your going to need at least 1.5GB of persistence to roll with it. And make sure you cram as much ram as possible into your nodes.

Only run the install once !! The scripts are very quick and very dirty Cheesy See the first post for more info.

EDIT: ISO is live !!! Wink

Almost done downloading. I'd like to recommend that you do a video with screen capture to show everyone the features, and tips and tricks to get the different pieces working. Include a payment address for donations, and build a video wiki through a youtube or ustream channel. I think you could make out like a bandit if you did this.

Or I could do it, take donations and split it with ya Wink

Seriously though, video wiki. It's the way to go.

Been getting a lot of messages regarding several issues with 0.2a. Please wait for 0.2b because any issues in the last version will be working in this one.

Overnight testing on a 5870 went excellent !! No drop outs temp sitting at 70C with clocks at 990/300. 11.6 is working properly now and its looking very good !! in about 7 hours I got around 3700 shares and only 4 stale !! And that's running from a 3G dongle !!

Just got to tidy up the menu and look at a couple of little graphical issues and will be ready to upload !

what am I doing wrong? do i need to unlock shaders via windows first?

aticonfig --odsc=990,300

aticonfig -odcc
Clocks persisted for the Default Adapter - AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series

It won't let me go below 775 for 900, and I can't go over 900 at all on the card. How do?
