are we not able to produce anymore high volume days on poloniex? if those lousy 30 btc volume/170 btc bid manage to hold price up, what do you all think will happen once we reach our old numbers again ? And what happens if we have a real pump up, with 600 btc + on the books? exactly... right now xmr seems to be just another coin floating around at poloniex. it is some time ago when we were the daily volume leader on our main (!) exchange. dont know if it can still happen on polo though...some hot money is definetely around there as we could see with ltc volume during the pump, but some liquid xmr buyers and sellers are clearly refusing poloniex. but no one cares since most of us enjoy putting up small bids around 190k and seeing them being dumped every day again. thank you so much whoever you are! i bet the whales could play this game forever, but can the dumpers too? maybe this is also just becasue its the floor we are sitting at right now...i remember last floor was quite the same, very low volume for days until the first 30btc+ market buys hit

This isn't meant as a criticism of them for doing it (I was critical of some aspects of their process but that's history now), just an observation. More of the coins are now just being kept in cold storage somewhere or being traded OTC.

On august 6 this wedge closes. xmrchina always drops the date "august 8" Coincidence? Indeed the trading range is getting tighter and tighter. Very hard to trade profitable these days as there hardly is volatility and if we have volatility, it is only due to buy/sell 10 XMR or so at one time.

On august 6 this wedge closes. xmrchina always drops the date "august 8" Coincidence? 8/8 was chosen for a specific China related reason, not because of technical analysis. Any correlation with the wedge in your chart is indeed a coincidence If you want to search for more "coincidences" compare XMR emission about 1 month after 8/8 to estimated total pre "tail emission". We are near a turning point in both development and adoption. Some will be wise enough to put all the pieces together before the current supply/demand balance is altered.

Today the general meeting of a certain Finnish company that already owns about 1% of XMR outstanding, has decided to refocus the company's mission to be a Monero fund, with the objective of converting its BTC holdings to XMR, and issuing shares to select parties and use the proceeds to acquire more XMR.

Wow, that's awesome. I don't think any other crypto except BTC has a fund.

And how will this certain Finnish company acquire XMR for their fund - via exchange or directly from miners?

...And hopefully it is made a publically traded company later so that more money can be raised towards Monero (I am speaking now about hundreds of millions of euros).

I could not resist the urge to tell it when it happened. Now we have the sweet problem of how to acquire the considerable amount of XMR that we need. I got off the phone with the vice-chairman and we decided not to rock the markets and instead be cautious with the acquisitions. We will set up the capabilities to buy and sell OTC as well, against BTC and EUR. The company shares can be bought from the aftermarket, or new emissions, or if someone wants a sizable stake in XMR without the hassle of a BTC/XMR exchange, or the hassle of becoming owner of the company, we can sell directly at a markup and reacquire the position from the markets.

That's probably good both for the average buying price and the coin. In this way you give constant buying pressure for the coin without pumping it into an (unhealthy) bubble. If Monero gets to a publically traded company level in some major stock exchange (such as Helsinki Stock Exchange), it might find a buyer in some old money banking sector, and they can afford to buy Moneros worth of billions.

The global appeal of Monero is great which is why I have been so involved in trying to encourage translations into multiple languages while focusing primarily on my Chinese marketing plans behind the scenes. I fully expect the type of plan rpietila is describing to be repeated in other parts of the world (perhaps first by individuals or small groups before companies like the one he mentions) in the months and years to come. Unfortunately buying 1% of XMR may not be as easy for those who wait too long based on the slowing emission schedule

You might be interested in some of the recent commits to enable translation of the software, for example https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/pull/335That is one of the things moneromooo is doing now that he is funded to work on development by the forum crowdfunding system.

Haha nobody commenting everybody buying... Don't worry this intention was first announced here months ago, and the plan weeks ago, and now it has been decided, and some time in the future it will cause XMR to be bought. As long as the marketcap is a few million, XMR is like a free lottery ticket that has lofty prizes, daily draws, and never expires Every single initiative is just contributing to the whole... (I am happy because a long-term plan is now sealed and the wise know how to act)

Is the public listing of this company on a stock exchange something that may happen in the future? The reason I ask is that this could be attractive to people in Canada who wish to hold XMR in tax free or tax tax deferred accounts (TFSA, RRSP etc).

It's all downhill from there for the dumpers, and uphill for the price. Relative to BTC and LTC <--> fiat exchanges, there has never been a "high volume" day on Polo. Whale pods live in huge, deep oceans. Polo has whales like Sea World has whales, just the odd two or three kept in a tank to amuse the public with their antics. The hot money is nowhere near XMR. Even a hint of warm money would result in 10-100x more volume. I'm glad for that, as even the current amount of smart old money is keeping me from the CH33P C01NZ is so dearly covet.

The reason I ask is that this could be attractive to people in Canada who wish to hold XMR in tax free or tax tax deferred accounts (TFSA, RRSP etc). Public companies tend to have 10s of millions (minimum) in assets, so with a global marketcap of 4 million, XMR funds who own a fraction of it are not likely to go public due to the administrative costs. I think in Estonia about $1 million companies can go public, because one of my companies was contemplating it when it was even smaller. TL;DR: Let's see
