Sorry to hear about your account that sucks. I'm just perusing and haven't caught up on everything. I'm guessing you've been going back and forth with cryptios or someone.

You can always create an electrum wallet - sign a message with that wallet. Then send a small predetermined payment from the wallet you can't sign a message from to your new wallet then send it back.

This at the very least shows you are in control of that particular wallet - much the same as signing a message - just costs some TX fees.

Good luck

I'll check that LP mode tonight and see if it takes. I'll let you know how the power draw is as well, just have to convert the plug ends over. So far I've only hooked it up and let it run to confirm the hashrate, had to go out of town so no time to test anything yet.

Quick update: I have no working LP mode. Same as you noted you can select it but it doesn't work.

Code:
Power detect error, can not find power P20 in config

Power meter is hooked up this morning so far looks like 65 TH at 3180W. I'm going to give it a 24 hour run and I'll do a review write-up like I originally planned - considering it is a different spec machine.
1503  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer M20 is announced and available for pre-order on: July 05, 2019, 09:37:28 PM
Well I finally received some tracking info and see it as confirmed shipped. Just over a month late but should have it in hand Tuesday, and online that night if I'm lucky. Almost would prefer Wednesday so I'm home but I've found making any changes to my DHL deliveries is to confusing for the local people; at least it's not -30C outside this time around.  Grin

So I finally got my machine in been busy and couldn't do much more than get it hooked up and hashing yesterday. So far so good, I should have my power meter on it this weekend to get some results but the sound was easily dealt with, i'll take readings of that as well.

Things that aren't so good and need to be discussed with Pangolin, it appears they sent me a 65 TH model - little over 10% below advertised spec when i ordered (72) and 3 TH lower than the model I should have received.

Looks like their posts are already removed, but I wish you had quoted them in the OP. (No, I don't actually need to see them, I get the gist)
I think it's pretty clear now that anything obviously low-effort can just be reported and will be removed pretty quickly.
~snip~

Yeah I forgot to check back on them but I think I may just have to be more clear in the report itself. The one I originally reported got moved instead of trashed at first, but I'll use some of the suggested "guidelines" to quote in the report from now on.

I'd say this falls under "low effort posting" and is against the rules. Especially if they use more than one account to hide their link spam.

I'll use this as part of my reports in similar cases from now on.
If you report them to moderator they will very likely be banned / nuked.

Well it's good to know it can be reported and dealt with now. Can't tell if there was a temporary ban but all posts being removed is good enough for now.

1505  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WARNING you can NOT chargeback PayPal Friends and Family on: June 30, 2019, 01:26:11 AM
I will point something out here, as I was in a similar position to OP in mid 2017. I bought from a scammer using PP - I did not use F&F for this transaction, thinking this would be more legit and safe.  Roll Eyes

Dotted the i's and crossed my t's by confirming with PP that this was a covered transaction, several times. Asked them if the account had any suspicious activity, the whole 9. Then sure enough when I put through the transaction and didn't receive my coins their tune changed. PP turned around and said that an  "ingame currency" wasn't covered, so explained that's not the case. They then said they do not cover digital currency, and claimed that the recordings of my previous calls didn't show any guarantees being given to me.

Good thing I used the credit card through PP, they handled it all. Do I still take PP for BTC, only if I have to and I feel I can trust the person enough. I've been more inclined to use a different service lately in Canada as they are super convenient and the rates are reasonable.
1506  Other / Meta / Not against the rules/guidelines but feels like it should be - Clickbait Ads on: June 29, 2019, 12:30:06 PM
So I came across a couple posters who are clearly just posting to promote a cryptowebsite. They are not engaging the community or in a conversation, they are pasting part of a story and linking back to their site.

Here is the 4 profiles I found actively doing this appears they may have started small then added more accounts. -
Madhu10 -  June 25/19
Nimisha27 - June 26/19
Ankur21 -  June 27/19
Sakshi07 - June 25/19
zecoex - Earliest activity but all posts are still referencing the site - May 18/19

So at most all that can be done is reporting them to be moved to the appropriate section of the forum. Is there anything else that can be put in place, or am I just overthinking this. It just feels like more low quality spam that isn't adding anything. I wouldn't care if they were at least paraphrasing and trying to start a real conversation.
1507  Other / Meta / Re: Typical Spammerisms on: June 29, 2019, 09:35:10 AM
~snip~ Sorry bro but I gotta make posts.

No one is forcing you too. Except yourself apparently.
1508  Other / Meta / Re: What has changed in last 60 days to allow Yobit to have campaigns here ? on: June 29, 2019, 09:31:09 AM
In recent times, duckdices were prevented to host a campaign due to open scam accusations. Some years back when betcoin.ag were running a monthly sig. camp. both Lauda and Lutpin were warning people with the possibilities of negging participants.
I guess admin and mods may not do anything about yobit but it is time for DT people to take action against yobit promoters for supporting the scammers.

Do you have a link for the duckdice campaign not being allowed to have a Signature Campaign? All I could find was this refusal for a forum advertising spot based on multiple Negative Feedbacks being left in regards to the service. This is different from moderating forum scams or their advertising activities through campaigns.

I should have left the whole quote in the first place but seeing as we veered that way tagging isn't an appropriate response for spam. You can tag them if you believe they are promoting a scam exchange but yobit is a grey area for a lot of people. Most have had no problems, and people who have had problems in the past haven't brought proper evidence or more than a generic claim in most cases.

129 users who were wearing a yobit signature and had at least 1 good report against them in the last 14 days are banned for 14 days. All yobit signatures are wiped. Signatures containing "yobit.net" are banned for 60 days.

Some people were talking about neg-trusting spammers for spamming. This is not appropriate; report the posts, and if that doesn't seem to be working well, come to Meta with specific examples and suggestions.

1509  Other / Meta / Re: What has changed in last 60 days to allow Yobit to have campaigns here ? on: June 29, 2019, 09:16:00 AM
From what I've seen, they're not paying. So it's just some more free advertising until it dies out.

Wow that would be a whole new level of 0 fucks given. It does look like only 1 person has received a payment, hard to say how many people are actually wearing the Sig with no spreadsheet available. Guess we'll know in a day or 2 if payments start flowing. Assuming it doesn't all fall apart by then.
1510  Other / Meta / Re: What has changed in last 60 days to allow Yobit to have campaigns here ? on: June 29, 2019, 08:56:20 AM
The clock on their punishment ran out. I'm shocked they aren't actually using an onsight manager from what I can tell. If it turns into the same spamfest I imagine the punishment will be worse. In regards to the scam accusations the forum doesn't moderate that sort of thing.

~snip~ All yobit signatures are wiped. Signatures containing "yobit.net" are banned for 60 days.~snip~
1511  Other / Meta / Re: Help to recover the stolen account! on: June 29, 2019, 07:44:25 AM
Since the time of your hack this thread was created. Recovering hacked/lost accounts

Follow the instructions under hacked accounts. You'll probably have to provide proof again but the team in charge of recoveries moves pretty quickly now. Good Luck
1512  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining Questions II on: June 29, 2019, 03:01:17 AM
I’m curious about this proof of transfer thingy? What do you mean?

I believe they are just generalizing many of the past cloud mining and other scams that "prove" they are legitimate by paying out some rewards for a while to attract new investors before shutting down and running away. This could still be the case but at least for now they are still paying out a partial reward so your losses may not be complete if they do exit. This review here lays out all the concerns for each point and echoes a lot of the suspicion people have brought up. https://cloudminingz.com/iqmining-com-review.html

Just hope for the best and plan for the worst. Hold onto and get as much information as possible about them, and definitely don't refer any friends to their site. Side note I went to read up on them again and they are having a big sale with a 25% bonus to their already lowish fees; kinds lends to the bring in as many customers as they can theory.
1513  Other / Archival / Re: [Raffle] .1 BTC prize - 9/16 Spots @ .0068 BTC each on: June 27, 2019, 04:43:00 PM
Alright well I think I'll call this one dead. We've had plenty of views but no more spot takers. I'll be setting something up this weekend. Either same prize with 32 spots or half the prize at 16 spots. Maybe some other variation.

I'll post a link to the raffle here when it's set up in case anyone wants to join.

Avalon  821 or 841 easy to crack fan shroud when removing for cleaning

I might be fuzzy here, but I remember most of them being good, but I hated the little screws they used pretty sure it was the 741 I'm thinking as I had to replace the cracked shroud. Much prefer the ones using longer fasteners bolting to the frame, like the M10 and I believe most Bitmain fans.

I also hate unplugging those 6pins from the hash boards, when I do this on 10-20 gears my fingers start to hurt , I would say everything about mining is tiring but worth it.

I have to agree with this part; maybe not everything. I have so many mini moments in setting something up or planning it out to have had one minor oversight. I've probably done every stupid thing possible at one point or another, generally taking longer than I should to catch my mistake.  Embarrassed

As for the BM data cables, what works very well is a set of parallel pliers such as https://www.amazon.com/EURO-TOOL-Parallel-Pliers-PLR-866-00/dp/B009436GDO which will evenly squeeze the wide locking tab so ya can remove the cable.

Now if only I had been smart enough to ask back then lol. I did sort of Red Green it and used a pair of pliers or other similar tool not intended for this... carefully. I kind of want to expand on this a little, I know for me I had no previous experience with anything. Changing BB boards on the S5 were nerve racking lol funniest thing was trying to salvage a board off a dead one I bent a lot of Pins - Attempt #1. Never really got over that and am always a little more than nervous when little pins are involved. Anyone care to share their biggest F^*k up , or the general nerves of your first time.  Tongue
1515  Economy / Reputation / Re: DireWolfM14's Trust Setting and Tag Review on: June 27, 2019, 02:03:36 PM
I can't argue with that logic, and looking back my public behavior in that it thread I do feel some shame.  In my defense I did PM Csmiami 23 seconds after I made this post telling him that I would send the money back (minus tx fees.)  I should have been more responsible in public, and shouldn't have needed DarkStar_ to point out that out.

No, worries. You obviously take these things seriously and it's always a chance to learn adapt and improve. I would just take from this (and it's something I work on as well) to try and not let rank or a bias(good/bad or both) towards someone cloud your judgement with the totality of what's happening in any situation.

Quote
This is also a very good point, and I was putting things into a narrow minded perspective due to the amount.  Integrity shouldn't depend on amount; $3 is essentially one 24oz Coors Light to me (which my waistline will attest I can live without,) but could be someone else's daily wages.  Thank you for your feedback, Steamtyme, it is really helpful.

Always happy to help or lend an opinion, especially with those willing to listen or enlighten as well. I hear yah on the cans full of sweet sweet nectar, couldn't help but grab a couple of cold ones after reading that. All this talk of drinks and other peoples things made me think of that guy at the party who was always conveniently drinking whatever booze was least guarded.

I feel like I missed a reply in the threads from csmiami if so I'll post in my rep thread about it and my reasoning so as to not hijack this one, or continuously bump the original.

Did you not see the part about how you made an error in your stratum. It is not your USERNAME that you put there. It can be confusing going off the front page, as Kano goes in the stratum, but is also used as the example for Usernames.

The red needs to be replaced by kano

stratum+tcp://stratum.USERNAME.is:3333
USERNAME.001
x

Code:
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Pool1:             | stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333  |
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Worker:            | Kano.worker                         |
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Password:          | x                                   +
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
Of course replace 'Kano.worker' with your pool username.worker Smiley

If you have network issues using port 3333, you can also try any of:
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:80
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:81
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:443
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:8080

The stratum server is in West-USA
There are other nodes located around the world that you may be closer to:
stratum+tcp://or.kano.is:3333 (Oregon)
stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 (NewYork)
stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333 (Netherlands)
stratum+tcp://jp.kano.is:3333 (Japan)
stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:3333 (Singapore)

Did you first create an account on the kano.is site? Iirc you have to do that first then use that username.

In this part - replace username with kano as shown below
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333
1518  Economy / Lending / Re: INVESTMENT NEED CAPITAL BECASUE THE BANKSTERS DEALYED MY PAYMENT on: June 26, 2019, 12:48:40 AM
AFAIK you're in DT so it's active. I have opposed it because as I said in the other thread I don't see ill intent on Csmiami's part. DarkStar_'s neutral is probably fair although I disagree with its wording.

Fair enough. It's the system in action and that's good. Like I said in time I would review my own support of the flag if this is a 1 off. I agree with the neutral, as it paints the picture from beginning to end while also being a revision and de-escalation from negative; which can say more than words at times. A good reason not to handle the money of others while having a wobbly pops.
1519  Economy / Lending / Re: INVESTMENT NEED CAPITAL BECASUE THE BANKSTERS DEALYED MY PAYMENT on: June 26, 2019, 12:21:03 AM
Alright, this is now getting out of hand. I think I have explained the situation the best way I could and that everything has been sorted out, but creating a flag now seems a bit overkill to me ATM...
I think the flag was created before you responded. I know for sure that Steamtyme created it before you responded.

Yes I am in one of my more active days so I came across DirewolfM14's thread which included the snipit pointing me here. I didn't feel the need to duplicate the negatives I was already seeing but did feel the need to have a warning due to this behavior. I did wrestle with the "anyone" part of the flag but I feel that's to broad a statement to make someone would have to be some next level type of scammer to be able to scam anyone that crosses their path. So that was the judgement call I made in creating the flag. Edit:What I saw showed the potential of you having a few drinks and some newbie who looks like a scammer (unproven but prejudged) happened across your path; this may repeat if not for the actions condemning it. What I saw was an alarming way to treat a supposed scammer, and potentially benefit from scamming the supposed scammer. Who was to know if this could have been repeated should you have had a few drinks and again a newbie who looks like a scammer (unproven but prejudged) happened across your path.

I did see after I created the flag you have responded to everything but the urgency seemed to come from the negative implications it had for you. For now I will continue to support the flag I created - I honestly at this point am unsure if it needs others support or not - but it will still be there as an inactive flag that can be seen. Like anything I leave feedback related, I'll monitor for a while hoping to see no sign of this type of behavior in the future, and am always willing to unsupport a flag or revise feedback.

1520  Economy / Reputation / Re: DireWolfM14's Trust Setting and Tag Review on: June 25, 2019, 10:31:12 PM
I read into it a little and was trying to figure out more about how the fees worked into it but I've never used that service. Either way it was a gross overestimate in an attempt to withhold, as shown by Darkstar_  so the feedback makes sense. Whether you review it at a later time or they make amends it's up to you how to proceed in the future.

A few points for you to consider, or ignore that's fine to. Your earlier interaction didn't really seem to give off the vibe that you didn't approve. I know you've said you were joking and I believe you, but in an instance like this it may have been prudent to actually point it out. This seemed like after the fact csmiami was feeding off the jokes made at the newbies expense and the suggestions of what to do with the funds. In the end what they did was still untrustworthy and disrespectful.

It also would have been nice to see a negative come to mind here first once it was realized theft was involved. You have corrected that and owned up to the whole process so well done, and I'm sure with time you will have firmed up your lines on what feedback is deserved for what actions.

Edit: Should you be interested I created a newbie warning flag given the events and that this was a newbie involved.
