1861  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for August on: August 27, 2022, 07:56:29 PM
And so we all got it wrong again, we started very bullish in the first 2 weeks and then last week we have seen the price going down from $25k-$21k. And now it is still going down, the whole crypto market cap is way below the magic numbers of $1 Trillion. So I guess with the Fed and the Mt. Gox news, we are still going to continue with the pain of this bear market at least for the month, and who knows what is going to happen as we enter the last 4 months of this year.
1862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Jamaine Ortiz - October on: August 25, 2022, 09:50:17 PM
Seeing Loma and Haney in one ring would really be exciting though it will also be a big challenge for the both of them. Haney might really be the bettor favorite but I think Lomo would really show off his aggressiveness to beat down Haney. Loma vs Ortiz would be another opportunity for Loma to strengthen up his stamina in preparation for him to face Haney in the future.
This is my thoughts exactly. My money is on Lomachenko. For me, he possess the qualities of a good boxer. Unlike Ortiz, he has a better Boxing IQ and ring generalship. During the match, I expect that he’ll be able to pick up the pace to an intense level. This will in turn expose cracks in Ortiz ring IQ that should bring about mistakes in the ring. I see this match as a prep fight for Loma. The real deal is going to be with Haney.

But there might not be value in your money if you bet on ML for Loma in this fight. For sure Ortiz will be a huge underdog. So for me, better to wait for other betting options to get listed first and look for the best odds for our money.

But I do agree that even if Loma was quite away from boxing because of the war, he still got the boxing IQ and overall ring generalship that is very hard for Ortiz to overcome. I might be seeing Ortiz getting confused in some rounds when Loma started his aggressiveness and then his hi-tech style.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34457655/oklahoma-city-thunder-rookie-chet-holmgren-miss-2022-23-nba-season-foot-injury-suffered-pro-game

And there it is.  This has bust written all over it.  7 foot lanky children aren't meant for the bodying up on nba level players.  Chet is out for the season after a foot injury from guarding lebron.  This kid is going to be hurt every year.  They should have drafted jabari.

Let's just be positive about this kid. And looking at some great players who have missed their rookie season.

- Joel Embiid
- Blake Griffin
- Julius Randle

Those players turn out to be very good specially a prime Griffin with the Clippers. Joel has improved thru the years and almost won the MVP last year. Julius Randle found a home with the Knicks.

Maybe we are not there yet, but I think in the future , trying to avoid gambling platforms with KYC can be dangerous. Scammers will be trying to exploit this, almost irrational, fear of losing privacy, offering platforms with no KYC.
All require the process of implementing KYC regulations like in previous exchange platforms, everyone refuses to provide personal data but when the top exchange raises the status of the obligation to verify KYC to access deposits and withdrawals, the other alternative is to just trade on other lower volume exchanges. So gambling platforms must ensure that KYC is harmless and will not be misused for negative purposes, ensure that user data can be encrypted and stored in external data (not online) to increase the security system from hackers.

I think that is one of the main concerns of individuals who doesn't want to provide their KYC in any services. Just like what we have heard horror stories in the past years wherein KYC was asked by the exchanges and then they don't know how to protect it as the data has been stolen. EU for example have this one:

https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/data-protection-eu_en

But so far though, I haven't heard any crypto gambling platform being hacked or our data being leaked. And hopefully there are storing those data of their customers in a safe place and one of reach by anyone.
1865  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The EU is on the verge of creating a new AML regulator that will oversee crypto on: August 25, 2022, 09:00:36 PM
Under a package of legislation targeting anti-money laundering, the European Union is building a new regulator that will have direct oversight over crypto businesses

Nothing unexpected really. Of course, the reasons said would be to protect end users from scams. And that will partly get also achieved. This will make some scam businesses no longer have a chance to exist in EU. But of course, the result will be more stupid rules, more KYC, more things that will make bitcoin more appealing for companies and less appealing for the law abiding citizen.

True, that's what their reasons (or excuses?) to impose and mandate another set of KYC. Lol, protecting the consumers but at the back of our mind maybe they want to know everything what their citizens is doing.

But who knows, we as enthusiast did try our best to follow, but for those who are bent of protecting their privacies, maybe there will be another way, circumvent this rules to hide their personal information against the prying eyes of this regulators.
1866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Employers Screen Applicants for Problem Gambling Before Employment? on: August 24, 2022, 09:51:49 PM
This is another job for HR and probably will not take this seriously and since I’m close to our HR the company I’m working with is not looking for this kind of addiction, they are purely looking for the skills, experiences and educational background in hiring people, gambling history is not their priority because I believe it’s a personal matter though it can only be investigated once the employee is exposed to money transactions in the company, I believe they should be more strict to this one to avoid any problem like this.

Yes, skills matter to the hiring company, not if they have gambling addiction or not. But definitely if the job requires you to handle other people's money then there could be some additional test that you have to undergo to test you mentally if you are capable of handling it. However, there could be cases that the individual might be entice on gambling right after he got the job. So that is the tricky part for the company to know in the beginning as gamblers are known to be very good at hiding their addictions.
1867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: August 24, 2022, 09:32:07 PM
Any shared information on why Dmitry Bivol failed to secure a fight with Artur Beterbiev for the supposed undisputed match at the Light-Heavyweight Division?

Who do you think is responsible for that, no other than Bob Arum the villain of the Boxing world, he doesn't want his ward Beterbiev on any promotion only on ESPN

Boxing politics always deprived the hard core fans of this sport the fight we deserved to see when fighters are still in their prime. Bob Arum always want the big slice of the pie and we all know that Bivol's market value sky-rocketed when he beat Canelo so for sure he will have to receive more if he fight Beterbiev which i don't think old Bob will agree.

Bivol needs to dispose Zurdo in a convincing manner first so as to eliminate the doubt that he is just a one fight wonder and with that he deserve a shot of unifying the light heavy weight title.

We can't of course forget that this is a business after all but yeah, that's somehow unfair not just for the fans but for the boxers as well because they can't try and have that legacy they wanted even while they are still at the peak of their prime because there is some promoters like Bob Arum who just wants to milk every challenger that his fighter faces rather than give that chance to have a legacy.

But I think Bob Arum can still fight in the table and have a demand as he have the power to make it because Artur Beterbiev has 3 belts while Bivol or Zurdo if the latter will win have only 1 belt to share in the table. Bivol's name is just hyped but that doesn't take away the fact that Beterbiev holds the most belts.

Will we see Zurdo vs Beterviev in the future? maybe, if I'm not mistaken, Zurdo used to be managed by Top Rank. And then they separated and then he move to the higher weight class. Not sure if the settlement is amicable or the relationship has been strained. And Beterviev is with Top Rank. So chances are the negotiations might not be that issues assuming Zurdo's history with Top Rank, and somewhat Arum as a boxing manager might find it hard to let Zurdo fight is cash cow in the LHW division.
1868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Jamaine Ortiz - October on: August 24, 2022, 09:17:24 PM
Definitely a good tune up fight for  Loma just to clear things up on the issues about Loma ducking against Haney. Also, this would be a good preparation for Loma moving forward to the Haney fight to avoid any reasons if Haney wins because Loma has never stepped up in the boxing ring for quite some time.
Nevertheless, hope after their respective fight they'll finally face each other more prepared.
I don't think that Loma is ducking Haney, it was just that George Kambosos activated the rematch clause so there's nothing that Haney can do but to honor that. Besides, he has beaten Kambosos already so we might see him doing the same in the rematch.

And it's good for Loma to have a tune up fight first, maybe he is eager to comeback, but he should prepare for the bigger fight later. So Ortiz could be a test for him. This is also good for Ortiz as we might see how he fight and he will be exposed with his name.

Of course, after the rematch then maybe both can challenge each other for a big fight. Who knows, maybe it will happen this year and it will be one of the most anticipated fight. Loma vs Haney, it's hard to choose the winner but I have a feeling that Haney will be the favorite in the betting sites.

Not possible because both Haney-Kambosos and Lomachenko-Ortiz fight will happen in the same month of October and I think the resting time and preparation to make another fight this year is somehow impossible. Maybe Haney and Loma (if both will have a victory in their respective fight) can lock a fight this year then they can make the fight happen somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2023.

Yeah, as long as they won their respective bouts, negotiations are very easy since they are in the same stable, under Top Rank. So perhaps the best schedule will be 1st quarter of 2023, at least that time and hopefully the economy is better so that casual fans have some money to buy because I consider this a mega-fight as well.

Hopefully we can see how Loma trains for this fight, you can see a good video here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRweh8fT4M8.

^^ Yeah, it's too bad for Nick that his big mouth will bring him trouble with the fans. And he chooses the wrong fan to accused of as she is a lawyer. But I don't know, maybe Nick will not change his style despite someone suing him for attacking her verbally as a fan. Perhaps the organization will have to step up as well, but then again, what can they do to Nick that they haven't imposed before? ban him for playing?

I'm thinking though that this could be settled out of court. But let's see.

I would say that whether or not Nick changes something fully depends on the outcome of this potential lawsuit. If it costs him like 10k or 20k USD, he probably doesn't care.
But if this turns out to be a serious punch in the face financially, I think he might change for the better because he HAS to! Otherwise he would be punished even harder for being a repeat offender.

Nah, I don't think that Nick will change for the better, maybe he can control his temper from time to time. However, his comment was about Anna Palus could be heard and maybe she felt ashamed. But then again, Nick is somewhat assaulting verbally in the crowd, even his coach and girlfriend.

So I doubt that she will just pursue that kind of money, she is a laywer after all and could really drag Nick in this case and there could be courtroom drama.

Media reporting now that Durant has reached an agreement with Nets management and will be playing for the Brooklyn Nets this year. I imagine that means Kyrie is staying also so no LeBron Kyrie reunion. I think this is probably the best outcome for everyone, but I did want to see them stir up the league. Should be fun to watch anyway. Two more months…

It's funny to see how quickly Durant changes his mind. Let me remind you that he tried to put an ultimatum to the Nets' owner a couple of weeks ago, and now they somehow managed to reach some kind of agreement. Honestly, I think Durant has been acting a little weird this offseason, and he definitely deserves to get some boos from Nets fans during the first home game of the upcoming season. Smiley

Mind you, he will definitely be going to receive a lot of boos from the Nets fans for that egoistic action after all the Nets had done to him, especially that ultimatum, that was a risky move that by now he already realized that it was a huge mistake making Joe Tsai choose. He definitely thought hard after that action he made because he might have that contract as his last without re-sign as there's a chance that there's no team in the league that would want him.

Perhaps, but if he can turn the team around this year, for sure fans will forget everything. Similar to Lebron when he left the Cavs,  we know what the flash mob did, burning his jerseys in the street of Cleveland. And when he comes back and play for the first time there are boos. But when he brought the city a championship, everyone forget about it. So I'm thinking the same scenario for Durant here, that is if he plays good this season as if the whole saga didn't happen.
1871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 23, 2022, 10:00:39 PM
I think Joshua will be knocked out if he faces Wilder, I am very confident about that.

With the news Wilder is making a comeback and also Joshua thinking about fighting again in 4 months time there is a possibility they could meet next year after both have had a couple of warm up fights. I just cannot see any way Joshua can get past Wilder because when Wilder catches you with a ferocious right hand the opponent usually falls and does not get up.

Only Fury managed to get up several times over his trilogy and still defeat Wilder.

I agree, and even before when both of them have an unbeaten record and then face each other, I think Wilder will win by knock out. Joshua is known to have a so-so chin, Wladimir Klitschko knock him down, and then Ruiz exposed him. So just imagine if the Bronze Bomber landed perfectly on Joshua's chin, it will be night night for him.

Warm up fight is obviously needed for Joshua if he wanted to continue. Wilder is up next, let's see if he already "exorcised the demons" with his 2 defeats from Fury.
1872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: August 23, 2022, 09:16:24 PM
why should Bob Arum so concern about them, let the Russians fight each other forchristsake those guys loves boxing so much like the Mexicans. while these boxers are younger, allow them to make money since Arum is also making money thru them. i doubt Russians like Beterveiv nor Bivol will care in the end.

Bivol vs Ramirez fight will be explosive. we're all fedup with all the mismatch Arum is setting.

If only boxers have the "say" on who they would fight then Beterbiev vs Bivol will happen without a problem but they have promoters and some of the big names have contracts with tv networks which in this case have problems agreeing to terms. Bivol is under DAZN while Artur Beterbiev is under ESPN. If this fight is to happen, this should be under ESPN per Bob Arum so he can have the leverage on the sharing of revenues (just my thought as this is always the case lol).

Boxing nowadays really sucks because of this so called promoters that always intervene potential great matchup.

That has always been the case, although it just like goes off when DAZN enter the network picture (although HBO has disappeared), so there are a lot of competing networks, SHO with PBC, Arum with ESPN.

So it will take a lot of negotiations on both parties to come with terms just to make this fight. Unfortunately, Bivol will have to settle with Ramirez and the same thing with Beterviev, maybe he will fight a relatively unknown fighter next.
1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coming sooner: ETH devs move up the date for Merge on: August 23, 2022, 08:44:03 PM
This is going to be highly anticipated for sure. How I wish I still have my ETH right now in which I am so stupid enough not to move them to my hardware wallet sooner. If I did, I could have saved it from getting hacked. But back then, I was too complacent in making my ETH safe in my Trust Wallet but I was wrong after accidentally engaged with a fake PDF file that turns out to be a malware.

My sister, however, she still has her ETH but currently at a loss because she bought it when the price was at $2k. Hopefully this would really be big for ETH's price when the merge comes up.

True, there is a speculation that ETH will shoot to like $2k-$2200, but we will have to see.

I'm sorry to hear that mate, I saw your thread about your wallet being hack, feeling for your lost. But no worries, you can still recover back. Just tell your sister to hold on that ETH and again see how the merger will affect the price because we are seeing it as having a positive impact in short term. And I guess there are also a lot of ETH holders anticipating this big event.
1874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How would you prefer your casino reward? on: August 23, 2022, 08:28:07 PM
Quick question, on your first visit to a casino to play slots, you were offered a bonus reward as incentive for visiting, if you are given the option to either receive your rewards in form of free spins for you to try out your luck and maybe win more, or direct cash reward, which will you choose?

I'll prefer to try my luck with free spins, although it could depend on how much free spins you will get, others offer like 10-20 spins but there are some casinos that offer less spins if I'm not mistaken.

And I think it's good promotion because once the player experience a new slot games on them, they will definitely started to deposit to continue playing and that is one reasons why casino offer free spins in the first place. To get you hook and lose more money.

Honestly, I think Durant has been acting a little weird this offseason, and he definitely deserves to get some boos from Nets fans during the first home game of the upcoming season. Smiley

He's a bit of an emotional guy for someone who's getting paid millions of dollars per month.  I think he came to the conclusion that any team who trades for him was going to be left with not enough talent to win it all and Brooklyn is his best shot at winning.  This is going to be a tough year for him though.  He had the chance to sign anywhere and chose the Nets, so it's really his own fault for tangling himself up with Kyrie.  Nobody saw the pandemic coming (except Bill Gates) but with so much money on the line, I wouldn't be lumping myself in with someone like Kyrie.

That's why there are a lot of "what if" for Durant, live what if he didn't leave the Golden State. Anyways, he chooses Kyrie and it seems that Irving is the one that really brought some kind of jinx to the Nets or made them suffer for his decision not to get vaccinated and Durant was the only one carrying the team. So it's better for him to stay with the Nets and see how it goes, who knows, maybe he can build a chemistry with Ben Simmons and make it a fresh start for both of them.
1876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) Pump Once Again Indicates Collapse of Crypto Market ! on: August 21, 2022, 09:37:28 PM
Funny how the article made Dogecoin and Shib as the center of Crypto Market.  Honestly, I don't care how many times they pump and dump those memecoins since they are not the representation of the whole cryptocurrency market and they don't affect the ecosystem of other cryptocurrencies. The article is a personal view of the author and shouldn't be taken seriously as a fact.

And I'm thinking that they are subliminally sending some message for their readers to invest on those meme coins. And I agree that this is just a coincidence and we shouldn't treat this as like a good indication of what is going to happen next in the crypto market because they don't have any bearing. Bitcoin is still what we call prime movers to it calls everything. And so when it tanks, all crypto goes down very hard. But when it is on a massive bull run, everything is uplifted including meme coins. And just to reiterate, these are probably the works of some pump and dump group.
1877  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 21, 2022, 09:01:44 PM
Tsitsipas is an uninhibited and unpredictable player. Was still seen as the future number 1 in the world. He does have the talent, but at times seems to be very impatient. Of course, that could have everything to do with his age. He has not yet won a grand slam but was in the final of Roland Garros in 2021. As long as Nadal continues to play tennis, he can forget about Roland Garros for the time being. But Alcaraz also scores high on Gravel. I wonder how they will both do at the US open. And Djokovic can cry at home in front of the TV. Or should he be present as a spectator?  Roll Eyes

Well he was really great in the past two years, but seems to not passed when facing tough opponents like Djokovic, Nadal or even Medvedev, and he is best known to be a clay court player, and yeah very inconsistent in his year.

The game has started already, Tsitsipas has the lead in the first set. Let's see if this is the tournament that he can win against Boric. Boric though is a tough cookie to break. In the women's it was Caroline Garcia defeating Kvitova for the title.
1878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 21, 2022, 10:41:57 AM
Devin Haney trolling his rival Teofimo Lopez. His latest tweet was only a few minutes after Teofimo's win and many noticed it right away, especially ESPN's ringside commentators of the fight. I love it. Keep the heat going on. At least Haney walks the talk and is an undisputed champ, unlike Ryan Garcia who only owns social media belts. But Haney should not look past Kambosos though as that ex-champ has nothing to lose and might go all in their rematch.
Definitely Garcia only own social media belt lol, if Garcia didn't scared to face Tank, why did he move up to the next weight Huh?

Well it turn Lopez is still a big head person and I think he wouldn't change his character even if he suffer from the second losses, Lopez need to move on lol and not claiming anymore if he's the best on his previous weight division. It's already over and yeah, I believe Haney wouldn't lost against other good boxers since he have a fight style which would make him favor on the judges.
He is never going to change but this also means that the perception people have of him is never going to change either, this makes him seems as a sore loser, not only he lost fair and square he is still unable to accept the reality of it, and the worst part is that not only this affects his image but his potential as well, after all how is possible for him to correct his deficiencies in his fighting style if he actually believes he is the best of his generation?
In boxing, what matter is your style, if your style will help you sell your fights and would give you good money, then you continue with that. Besides, it's only your character in boxing, that doesn't mean it's the same in your personal life. In short, boxing is just a business for them, and for the fans, it's entertainment, we paid them to get entertained.

Just like what we've seen recently, Joshua can't accept his defeat on Usyk. So maybe that's what George felt and so they goes on a rematch. But if the same result is going to happen, will he accept the defeat or not? I highly doubt it.

Anyhow, and since Loma has declared his comeback, this two for sure have that at the back of their mind because the winner of this fight will challenge Loma in the next fight. Bob Arum has already set this plan in motion already.
1879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 21, 2022, 09:59:15 AM
It's hard to argue against.  Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.  He changes the game and requires the defense to pay special attention to him at all times.  This makes his teammates much better than they otherwise would be if the defense didn't have to focus on Step.  Offensively, Steph is hands down the best player in the NBA.

However, he is also a pretty big liability on defense.  You could make the case that his defense cost them the title in 2016 and that other teams target him.  So it's tough to say he's the best player in the world.  I'd rather call him the best shooter of all time.
Being the best player would really require balance stats for defense and offense. No doubt that Steph really has changed the shooting since he stepped up.

AFAIK, he's the one that I've seen that's really good in those threes and he has mastered it with his entire career. I guess on players like him, he don't have choice but only to master offense and let his teammates do the rest for defense.

I agree about him as the best shooter.

Yes, best shooter there is no debate about that, he really revolutionize the game with his shooting, going further and further away and even at the logo or 50 feet and beyond. For the defense argument, I somewhat agree but then again, we will go back to the eras. I'm not saying that this era or at least the last decade of the NBA didn't focus on defense. But with coaches like Phil Jackson,  Jerry Sloane retiring, and then we have coaches like Mike D'Antoni employing a run and gun, you need to score in less than 10 seconds or less, and playing without true center, the game has chance a lot that maybe the argument for Curry was the best player right now holds true as per Shaq.
1880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 21, 2022, 09:32:28 AM
Usyk fought like a wounded lion. He fought with a heavy heart.

From the first fight match, Usyk was just too aggressive, relentless and hungry for a victory. Joshua was really out of place, scared & lacked that killer instinct that most heavyweight champions have! I knew Usyk was once again going to outclass him. Usyk reminds me of Vladimir, tough, rugged and fast! I supported Joshua but the best fighter won though

He said post fight interview that he did want to change his style in this fight and you can see that sometimes it his effective, enough for 1 judges to sway the fight on his favor. But the 2 thinks otherwise, and that is what we saw, Usyk out landing Joshua in the most crucial rounds of 10-12. I just pity Joshua because he broke down and cry at the post fight. He really put himself in training and look forward to this fight in the last 11 months and yet he still fell short of it. I guess he can still continue to fight, maybe try to regain the hunger and motivation.
