2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: has bitcoin achieved its goal? on: December 31, 2021, 05:39:11 PM
Bitcoin has accomplished a lot over the last few years and deserves a lot of credit for it but has not achieved its goal yet.  Bitcoin is set to achieve global protection whereby everyone will accept its use in terms of payment methods and apply it to their business and transactions.

I think the purpose of why BTC was created was for financial freedom over our transactions. As long as there are countries who oppose to this kind of view, I doubt that we can say that it already has achieved its goal.

Another thing, like what some had mentioned, there is no actual 'pre-defined goal' for BTC. A goal and a purpose is relatively different and it will continue to achieve its goal for as long as countries adhere to its legality. But to give some credit, I do think that we already experienced its effects on our transactions- mostly it is overwhelmingly positive!
2642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: December 31, 2021, 05:11:51 PM

I think that no sport has a comparison in the equivalent, it is the science sport say out there, but some do not consider it a sport, although it is officially recognized as a sport.

When chess is played for entertainment or as a board game as such, it does not occur to anyone to call it a sport, but when you spend 10 hours sitting or more playing and the consequent mental effort it requires, then you end up understanding that it can be considered a sport, in the equivalent that we could usually tie to it is badminton, which has even been an Olympic sport.

totally makes sense since chess can be really demanding for the mind and even for the body, focusing 10h+ on a game is probably really tiresome

Chess is a strange one as regards calling it a sport. Every other sport involves a
degree of physical activity but Chess requires mental strength and agility.
I'm sure players physically work out to condition the body as well as their mind
because I'm sure it has been proven that a healthy body can benefit a healthy brain.

Aside from the skill levels required to play top level Chess there is no physical challenge.
The nearest sport I can think of which requires only skill and not a physical advantage
is Darts.

I think chess can be one of the most brutal sports compared to any other sport that is recognized.

While it does not involve any physical activity, the mental and psychological torture is beyond incomprehensible to us mere mortals. Imagine, playing 9-15 hours of straight chess which needs continuous concentration and focus where one mistake in your calculation can result to a loss. That is why it is definitely heartbreaking if a player lost a very long-game. That is also the reason on why classical chess is the pinnacle of any other chess mode (e.g. rapid, blitz, bullet, etc.).
2643  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin allows tax evaders, Please pay attention.... on: December 31, 2021, 02:59:44 PM
It is relatively difficult to draw the line whether what you receive is taxable or not, given that cryptocurrencies (or BTC to be specific) is taxable in the first place.

Unlike income, streams of revenues that are particularly categorized under the laws are taxable, cryptocurrencies have a league on their own in which a law must be passed in order for them to be taxable. Currently, most countries are silent on the status of BTC in their country (e.g. they chose to tolerate it, etc.). But once there is no law declaring it to be taxable, then I guess it is unfair to say that BTC allows tax evaders.
2644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why should Gambling be legalized ? on: December 31, 2021, 12:15:54 PM
....

There can be other social benefits during the time of Covid where people have to supposedly entertain themselves at their own homes and they won't have to visit casinos in person.

What else do you think could be the benefits ??

Other than financial advantages, legalizing gambling can bring so much revenue to a country.

By basing it purely on facts, in the Philippines, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) contributed 3rd in brining the most revenue in the country yearly. From this fact alone, it can be seen that gambling establishments can bring revenue which may in turn, benefit the society in the future. The problem is on how you draw the line between morality and acceptance.
2645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Biggest Gambling Win in 2021 on: December 27, 2021, 08:02:17 PM
Since, it's time to say goodbye to the year 2021, we may have good and bad memories with regard to gambling. Some may have lost a lot of money and others may have become millionaires in this year.
It will be good if we can share our highest win which we achieved in this year through gambling and also which gambling platform was lucky for you.

Thanks for creating this thread! This actually reminded me of my winnings in an online cockfighting scene where I started with only $100 and won roughly ~$400.

Online cockfighting has been going around in the Philippines given its widespread recognition and practice. Due to the pandemic, cockfighting games were migrated online where you had the option of betting (before the round begins) on two (2) chickens. I started with $100 and staked around $20 per fight (I mainly used the Martingale system).

I actually almost lost all of my winnings but the last bet that I made sealed the deal for me. Given that I only started with a small amount of money, I definitely walked out happy after cashing out those good $400 (roughly around 20-30 games) in my pocket.
2646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New in bitcointalk. Can i participate in Bounty campaign? on: December 27, 2021, 07:54:40 PM
I am brand new in bitcointalk.  I want to participate in bounty campaign. Can I?

As far as I know, you are free to join bounty campaigns as long as the manager allows brand new users to participate into such.

Be cautious, however, as most users who join bounty campaigns (not everyone) are also the ones who contribute to dozens of spams throughout the forum. Newbies also tend to create spam posts and over-asked questions that were answered a long time ago. If you do wanna earn alternative income, I highly suggest improving your knowledge in cryptocurrencies and share your insights on them by providing/creating useful threads.
2647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gary Russell vs Mark Magsayo WBC Featherweight Title on: December 27, 2021, 07:48:49 PM
<..>
Inoue vs Donaire is a good match if it will happen I think Donaire must focus on training so that he has a chance to win against the king of their division. Inoue must be careful also cause we all know that Donaire is a counter puncher.
Back to the topic about magsayo and Russell yes This is the big fight of Magsayo's career and they must be trained harder. In this fight I will bet magsayo too.

I remember watching Mark Magsayo's fight against Julio Ceja where the former landed a right hard punch on round 10 which sealed the deal and eventually won the entire fight. According to boxrec, Magsayo has an undefeated record of 23 wins. I do think that Gary Russell is a dangerous opponent given his destructive power, size, and speed on the ring.

There was this article that featured Magsayo, stating that this fight might be his biggest so far. Although I do fear for him, I am at full support towards this fight as I do believe that he will eventually come out as the winner at the end.
2021 on: December 27, 2021, 07:40:33 PM
Nag-pump kanina kabayan, $50,000 yata if I'm not mistaken.

The whole month of December, almost lahat ng cryptocurrencies bumagsak sa presyo.

I have this feeling na tataas nanaman ang price nito this 2022 kaya maganda na kung makabili kayo habang mababa pa price.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: December 27, 2021, 07:22:09 PM
And that is what they call this boxing match, exhibitions, because they can totally rigged the results. But at the end of the day, still up to the fans whether they are going to support this kind of fights or not because it's not that exciting to watch to be honest. Mike Tyson's previous fight with Roy Jones was obviously rigged as well so I'm expecting the same here.
It was just a showcase fight between two boxing veterans who were very respectful to each other. Many clinches, special large gloves, so that everything would be without unnecessary damage to boxers. It was more of a show than a fight, but this fight was watched by millions, therefore, such battles will continue to occur. This fight with Logan is not entirely appropriate, because there is a very large age difference, and this is no longer good. In any case, it will most likely be the same show.

To be honest, I do not blame them for engaging into such exhibition fights. If I were in their shoes and a lot of people are interested in watching me play in the field again, I would not hesitate especially if the price is right. Given that they earned millions in exhibition fights, I see no reason for them not to take the offer.

Like what you mentioned, exhibition fights are not serious fights. While trash-talking is present, once they step into the ring, they have this implied agreement to not take the fight seriously.
2650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Animal racing on: December 27, 2021, 06:28:57 PM
As the festivities get high in spirit a lot of players are now taking part in different games in my neighborhood I saw some individuals playing different games with animals from horse to bull and even cow racing all over the street and I stop to wonder if this kind of game healthy for those animals some people think that using animals for such games is being harsh on the animal well being.

I think this depends on the type of animal and the type of racing.

If such animals were forced to run (i.e. they are harmed during the process as to force them to run), then I think that would constitute animal abuse on the part of the players. But if the animals used in the marathon are the ones that are designed for running (i.e. horses, dogs, etc.), then I think that would pose no problem in the future in terms of animal abuse.

Remember that people are betting into most things and processes nowadays. As gambling is continuously being practiced, more and more activities are also being introduced in the system.
2651  Economy / Economics / Re: To be financially well and healty you need to find fund manager on: December 27, 2021, 06:14:16 PM
It is just my opinion. You don't need to entrust or find someone to manage your assets and investment. That's too risky! Don't trust anyone. You can manage your own assets and investment by your own. All you need to do is to acquire knowledge first about investing before jumping into it. Whatever kinds of investment, you need to learn first.

I somehow agree with your comment but it is, however, advisable to learn the basics of financial literacy from a fund manager as they are the ones who are experts on the said field.

Many celebrities and rich people hire fund managers as the former have the tendency of spending money in huge amounts, which may result to unpaid credit card balances, etc. Most common example are NBA players- once they receive their first check, some spend it outrageously purchasing luxury cars, etc. while it may be considered harmless, it will definitely affect them long-term.
2652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 27, 2021, 06:08:46 PM
The game between the Suns and the Warriors showed tremendous potential of being the conference finals in the playoffs. Both teams played their very best in such game as it was super entertaining to watch. But to be honest, Booker had an off-night while Curry dominated the field. Props for Otto Porter Jr. for coming in hot in the last quarter as he showed his shooting skills on the field.

Like what the commentators said, the game showed a glimpse in the future in the playoffs as it was tremendously neck and neck throughout the entire quarters.
2653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the point hodling, if you can't risk it all? on: December 26, 2021, 10:14:52 PM
Holding crypto coin is directly proportional to risk taking, once someone can be able to take risk, meaning he/she will be able to hold crypto token until a desire setpoint or desire price is attained.
I am really impressed because today I learn the meaning of HODL, I always refer to holding unknownly but I now know the exact meaning. This forum is indeed a great institution to learn and share ideas.

This is definitely well-putted. Like what I previously mentioned, every investor has their certain goal on their investments once it reaches a certain threshold of amount that they are willing to risk. The essence is, as long as the investor cashes out his/her investments that is above their initial deposit, then they have the freedom to cash them out depending on their liking or needs.

There is this misconception in HODLing that people should never cash out their investments until an ATH. While this advice may be practiced by most of the people, the truth still remains that a person can freely utilize their investments if they needed the money for something more essential than saving.
2654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump Says Crypto Is 'Very Dangerous' ... but ... on: December 26, 2021, 10:01:58 PM
If I could get a dollar for every comments, tweet and so one made my Donald trump that k didn't agree to I would have probably been a billionaire by now, Donald trump has never supported or agreed with crypto-currency or liked it in any way so I don't even take any of his comment concerning crypto-currency seriously, I believe he is learned and also has learned people surrounding him but it's clear he has made is a priority not to support crypto-currency or like it in any way.

To be completely honest, I do not think that Trump actually knows anything- like he reads and talks with his mouth rather than his mind. This lead to a series of contradicting claims in which his previous messages do not reflect his current actions. That is also the reason on why most Americans despise him as a President and as an individual also.

Again like you mentioned, I would not trust any of his statements given all the previous records he held. Even with his statement where he considered cryptocurrency as "dangerous", again, I doubt that he has an idea of what he is talking about.
2655  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ang crypto after ng isang super typhoon. on: December 26, 2021, 09:47:48 PM
Fiat padin talaga ang sakalam in terms of convenience sa bawat apektadong lugar.

2656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com & responsible gambling? on: December 26, 2021, 09:38:55 PM
I know its hard that they had poke out your gambling addiction but why you cant just let it pass and save up yourself on lots of hassle on trying to fight
out your rights?

Move on and stop gambling if you really wanted to and dont put up yourself into hassle and much effort to prove out that you are right.

To be honest, this is a lost-cause for OP's side where he still continues to believe that fighting this battle would yield him rewards. Again, I do think that stake somehow and impliedly acknowledged their fault in sending out any promotional email in their side. By blocking your accounts, that was the last step in order to secure the idea of any possibility of you coming back.

While you may show any evidence to prove to the contrary, I mean at the end of the day, what does it prove anyway? While I also fully support your decision of quitting, fighting this kind of battle relatively proves that the lingering feeling of gambling may soon convince you to do it again.
2657  Economy / Economics / Re: Introducing a state-issued cryptocurrency on: December 26, 2021, 09:26:11 PM
Union Finance Ministry has take a decision on a state-issued cryptocurrency soon but ban all private cryptocurrencies. The VHP leader had sought a ban on all cryptocurrencies alleging its usage to fund terrorism, drugs and other 'anti national activities'. As all private cryptocurrencies are still not considered as legal tender or coin in India, but the govt may introduce an official digital currency in India.

I think its a good decision by government.. What you guys think about it?

I think this completely destroys the idea of financial freedom- in why why BTC was created in the first place. The idea of having a "state-issued cryptocurrency" but banning any other cryptocurrency equates to the idea of forcing someone to use a specific cryptocurrency in a country. Bitcoin was created in order to avoid any third-party consensus in handling our transactions- so again, this completely shatters the dream of Satoshi of having to attain financial freedom.

I doubt that this is a good decision of the government given that it equates to no other than having to use fiat, where you are subjected to use a specific cryptocurrency while banning others.
2658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto gambling rating 2021 on: December 26, 2021, 06:22:43 PM
I'm supporting the casino I'm promoting Duelbits they have good feedback from the community so far no complaints or accusations until now, they have huge giveaways almost every month, and they have one of the longest signature campaigns 64 weeks with 72 participants it's everything that you're looking for a reputable casino, They set up a good standard.

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

From all the gambling sites that I have encountered and visited, duelbits seemed to be the most trustworthy (relatively) of all. No complaints, an active campaign signature being promoted in the forum, and an active staff make it truly a safe haven for aspiring gamblers who wish to try out their luck. In addition, I also recommend blackjack.fun as it is also being hosted and promoted in the forum with an active forum representative.
2659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When and how did you discover Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2021, 06:14:17 PM
One thing that kind of drives me crazy is I don't remember exactly when or how I discovered bitcoin.  I know that it was either late 2013 or early 2014, but I can't specifically remember when or how.  I have a few email records from late 2014 which prove that I knew of bitcoin from back then, but they do not provide any clues as to how I discovered it.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I was fortunate enough to discover BTC back in 2017 where its price was around ~$2,000ish. Unfortunately, I was not able to take advantage of its price since I almost withdrew most of the BTCs I earned from campaign signatures in order to pay for my educational materials.

While some may have doubts as to its existence, the best time to really discover BTC is when you actually discovered it the first time, whether it be today or the past week. What matters is that once you discover its existence, it is imperative that you purchase some for long-term investment due to its inflationary and volatile nature.
2660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: December 26, 2021, 04:10:26 PM
So after Barrios gets KO by Tank Davis, he decided to go up to the welterweight where in there's a lot of big puncher? The only reason I can think of is that he really is too big for 140 lbs and there's no way he can make that weight in his next fight.

For Thurman, it's been a long layoff away from boxing, but yes, probably this is a cherry pick fight for his comeback. Because admit it or not, Barrios can't take his punches so Thurman has all the advantages in this fight.

After the fight between Pacquiao and Thurman, I gained nothing but respect to the latter. He definitely handled the loss professionally- and his comments about the entire fight were really respectable on his part. After checking now the past records of Barrios, you are definitely right on your analysis.

As much as that I really prefer betting on the underdog on boxing, my bet would definitely lean towards Thurman due to his destructive power and hunger for a comeback. I really doubt that Barrios would be able to snatch the victory here but who knows!
