slush I am really sorry to hear about the hack, I have always been a big fan of yours and have nothing but the highest respect for you; but my brother...
I have to ask, wtf are you doing with $15k in bitcoins in an unencrypted wallet?

On mining behind a firewall. You can install DDWRT on a router you use at home. Then setup an SSH tunnel using putty to it via port 443 and use it as a proxy for your miners that are inside the firewall. You can also use it as a web browsing proxy so "they" cannot see what you are looking at with web traffic monitors like a procera appliance. I use such a setup for added security when RDP'n into my boxes at home.

cablepair, actually 3k BTC was not *so much* from the view of pool's turnover. There are still few hardcore miners who store tens or hundreds bitcoins on the account. Hot storage usually fluctuate between 1000-2200 BTC, sadly this time it was above average limit, because more people were near payout threshold. Decision "how much to store in wallet" is always hard, it's compromise between security and user comfort. I choose user comfort, because sometimes I'm out for many days. Yesterday I re-evaluated it and now I'll, of course, try to keep as low balance as possible, because I really cannot affort another issue like this. Unfortunately there's no reason to think that other providers, even non-VPS, are more safer that well-known and widely respected Linode...

I strongly recommend to change your password on the pool immediately.
I have tried many times now. The password reset page says: "Forgotten your password? Enter your e-mail address below, and I'll e-mail instructions for setting a new one." I input my email address ( and it isn't some gmail one or similar, and I have checked the trash folder to make sure it didn't get marked as spam and moved there ) and I have yet to receive anything to let me change my password. Or is it the worker password one sets on the Edit Worker page one needs to reset?

Portnoy, does it print some confirmation message, that email has been sent? If it just refresh page, you're using wrong email (and I'm sorry for stupid error message handling).

I have done the same, multiple times, with the message: Password reset successful
I've e-mailed you instructions for setting your password to the e-mail address you submitted. You should be receiving it shortly.
And yet email has yet to be received. Neither have I received payout notifications since October, although the box is checked and the payout is received. Thanks.

I like your honesty and thank you for a reliable service for 9 months now. Just sent a small donation. Will send some more BTCs from NMC exchanges in the near future. I heard crowd funding, no matter how small fractions it may be, can be a very powerful tool if there are enough people doing it. Hope many people will make small donations at least as a band aid for your losses. Would just regret to see you having worked for us for free for a couple months. Thank you everyone.
Donated 0.22 BTC and later 0.5 BTC, freshly mined btw.

Hi guys, we are mining namecoins here, so I thought I would let you know that I contacted mtgox to ask if they would add namecoin support for trading. The guy at helpdesk opened a feature request ticket for me. https://support.mtgox.com/entries/21098553-add-namecoinJust go there and click "Me too!".

I got a reply from mtgox to my support request: Hello Janek,
Our management group said that they are considering it as it is on our to-do list. However, we do not have an estimated time to implement it, but once we do, we will definitely announce it. Thank you for your patience in the process.
Thanks,
MtGox.com Team

I added my "Me Too" to the list, but it seems odd that you have to sign up again in order to do anything through the support interface. It initially turned me off to adding myself to the list, but ultimately decided the feature was worth the extra time in signing up for their support side of the website...

I read it somewhere in the forum and tried it out. Works like a charm. This way you could at least have a .bit webpage with whatever service or info and people will be able to view it redirected via that page. Now this might increase the namecoin price. I'd switch to a .bit domain and finally leave my overpriced 1&1 hoster if I knew I am not the only one being able to find my web presence.

I'm fixing one issue on the pool today. No downtime expected, just some pool restarts.
