1803  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lending money = DT Trust? on: May 11, 2019, 03:58:36 AM
Do not just get into lending if your end game is to have a high trust score, based on positive feedback, by targeting DT.

Now if you want to be a lender go for it. Learn to read peoples feedback, and take heed of the lessons many lenders have learned before you.

In regards to feedback in general. Figure out what works for you and run with it. I never banked on being any part of the DT network and maybe someday I won't be; who knows? I'm no high roller so if I have a deal that goes well with good communication and no sketchy shit, it's a positive experience for me and they will probably receive a positive feedback for this. If I get screwed over or attempted then it's a negative experience, you can probably see where I am going with this.

In this regard I say let the trust score not the amount of positive feedback received be the signal, as one needs time to cement it's legitimacy.

Pardon my preachy.  Tongue

So i found the premise if this thread annoying to say the least. Thankfully you didn't say "simon says" "local rule" so here's 10 topics started that I'd say qualify. That's right not posts as there would be more than enough.

I agree that once you've had your laugh you will find a list of long posts by CH. I think i interpreted that correctly.

That sucks. It's an expensive lesson but you should have listened to the warnings and red flags that went up. If you didn't pay with crypto i would start trying to get your money back.

Not sure why I found the use of the word "humans" in that sentence so funny. Only something non-human would refer to others as "the humans". I think the autonomous theymos AI needs more training data to better blend in with us lowly humans and avoid subtly revealing its true nature. Grin

Could learn a lot from the LoyceV model, barely gives itself away anymore.  Smiley

I thought I would point out that, the Locked account previously discussed was unlocked and for the user it was a rather painless experience. I'm still not on board with the idea of preemptively locking accounts, even if it is few and far between, but it appears to be something that is handled quickly. I am curious though if this happened over a weekend would someone get the same rapid support?

Glad to see you were able to restore your account in a timely fashion. If you don't mind sharing what steps did you have to go through to have the account unlocked? It's probably better to post here where the discussion moved in Meta.

Cryptios thread They are the company that handles account recovery and these types of instances.
I just mailed them initially asking for the reason for locking my account and informed about the situation to my signature manager and then i came to know what triggered the situation and i sent a detailed mail and provided my last used ISP and informed that i will provide my static IP if they require to unlock my account but then i informed that is against my privacy, but they responded in a timely manner saying that it was a temporary lock and Cyrus checked my account history and they found nothing and released instantly. First of breathe. Your freaking out over nothing. You should link the other thread if your going to bring it up so people don't have to look for it. Only theymos can remove merit, and it would have to be an extreme case of merit abuse - It's only happened on one occasion I believe.

In regards to them spamming your topics, use the report to moderator function. If they are off topic, spamming or breaking any other forum *rules the posts will be deleted.

*unofficial

I've got a funny feeling you will regret this post when the sleuths come out - the bloke is correct it was a total shitpost for 11 merits.

Not the worst post, but yeah 11 merit is like winning the lottery for that assistance.

1810  Other / Meta / Re: Paying someone for posting on ANN thread is against the forum rule or not? on: May 09, 2019, 02:15:32 PM
I read through the thread and I don't see anything wrong with it for a few reasons.

1) Is that they have a limit to how many times/members they will accept

-   All participants need to have Senior or higher rank (Hurry up! We will offer free testing opportunity ONLY for first twenty members who will write to us)

2) They are not allowing a free for all. 1 person per day can write a review, they do not proceed to the next reviewer until the previous one finished

Quote
Only one review per day can be published. So, the first who will write to us and will be approved as a participant will get 0,0015 BTC the same day. The next participant (the second one to write to us) will get money only after the first review will be published. In this regard we kindly ask all participants not to delay with publishing.

I would feel differently if they were requiring multiple reviews or mandatory replies about their experience, or multiple per day with no end. The reason other threads are trashed is they are telling people to just post there or comment on the project with no regard for quality or purpose. That encourages spam and shitposting, for visibility. This is a paid review which could be positive or negative, and is just looking for essentially a beta test with higher rank members and a quality review.
1811  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My "mini" mining farms , set up + wiring on: May 09, 2019, 01:33:36 PM
I'd say you made a good choice overall, nothing wrong with spreading it out a little in case we weren't in such a great situation right now, if only we could see the future. Good on you for not giving in to the temptation, it's tough when everything on paper says do it. Not going to lie, when you were talking about this I almost hit you up with a proposal to buy/host with you - essentially try and insert myself into your plan if you had space. Then I took a breath remembered I had just upgraded everything mining at the house and held off on asking. Finally starting to rebuild some of the reserves, which feels nice especially at these prices.

If you get a chance ever you should throw up a few pics of the "Gold Rush" setup.  - Get in and grab what you can fast.

I always forget about the Bot, and now realize why I couldn't find your thread - it moved.

I'm considering filling this for you. I just need some time to check a couple things out. I'm at work today but can fill the request during a break, if I'm satisfied with the requests below.

Your campaign has no definitive timeline but could end at any moment as per OP. How do you plan to repay if your campaign ends or you are removed?

I'll want a signed message, looks like the one in OP is your staked address, from February this year.

~snip~

Edit: Offer is rescinded at this time. OP has been online and hasn't communicated any interest.
1813  Other / Meta / Re: Cryptios on: May 08, 2019, 05:14:54 PM
Thanks for clarifying, I wasn't aware there was also a moderation aspect involved; apart from obviously anything you chose to do being Admin.

I can see some accounts causing worries and possibly warranting a preemptive lock for safety/security; such as Mods, Merit sources, "forum trusted escrow" etc. Again I don't see what you guys see, I'm just wondering what they would need to do in this case. Perhaps they bought the account - not that I encourage this - what would they have to post to regain the account.

I definitely understand needing the ability to lock accounts once the recovery process is started. It just seemed a slippery slope to me in this instance before anyone involved or potentially involved with the account raised a concern. As you said though you've been doing this for a while, I only noticed this as it was stated in the thread.

Thanks again for taking the time to clarify the role and stance of Cryptios
1814  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: choosing between S9J or Avalon 851 on: May 08, 2019, 04:38:31 PM
I tend to suggest Avalons personally. I've never had an issue with any that I bought new from distributor, and they have lasted me quite well. (741 and 841). They are also user friendly for repairs.

I never had/ran an 851, but they were much the same just poor efficiency and not as adjustable in the settings iirc. Bitmain has been given a poor name in quality, some out of the box some after running. It's hard to say how deserved it is, as they were the only show around for a while, so they obviously were the only ones getting trashed. That being said I have received a miner in less than ideal operating condition, and repairs weren't worth the extra cost.

I wanted to point out that it looks like you can buy 852's (never heard of the 852) good price for cheap electricity direct from Canaan . Normally there is a MOQ of 20 I believe for all their units but it doesn't show there at this time. Good luck with your venture.

Excellent, cables arrived, replaced a faulty breaker, and my third M10 is finally back online. Can't wait to bring the M20 monster to the pool hopefully by the end of the month. Let's get that Block cracked.

Edit: info regarding M20 reply was to a deleted post.

I ordered mine as a demo unit (full price paid) using pangolinminer.
I wouldn't trust that site. You can check the link below, under Microbt ( manufacturer) they use 2 distributors Pangolin and Whatsminer . I believe the first batch release isn't slated to ship until August.

Thanks for the reply. I did cross-post this in the Cryptios thread (before I saw your reply) to move the discussion into Meta. Just for the purposes of clarifying these things for everyone, with the new dynamic of the forum and your company working together.

Appreciate the work you guys do, have a good one.

Sorry for the Off-topic.

For a little on topic - Unless someone is legit begging for Merit " Please Murit me" "Murit is to hard, give me some" or "Can I have merit so I can rank up" Either through PM or as the only content of a post, it's not to bad.

On that note I would only tag someone begging for merit with a neutral, that's just me. They aren't going to get anywhere anyways until they stop the woe is me crap and just put in some legit effort.

Deleted from above. Quoted for reference only.

You're right. I'm going to post it in the cryptios thread, just got busy at work. Didn't want to come off aggressive and was waiting to see if they replied back here as well. Glad you liked my goodness with words. Cheesy
1817  Other / Meta / Re: Cryptios on: May 08, 2019, 03:37:48 PM
I came across something today, and I'd like to get further clarification on a couple of things.

1) Scope of the service Cryptios is offering to the forum. I was under the impression it was solely for account recoveries.
2) Forum policy regarding Locking accounts suspected to have been hacked, sold or otherwise changed hands.

I'm concerned about action being taken without the account recovery process being started by anyone claiming ownership of the account. I've quoted the post below, I can understand the reasoning behind taking action; if forum policies have changed. Currently though this seems to be an overreach, and has the potential to lock peoples accounts unnecessarily. I don't think an account should be locked without the recovery process being started.

Well spotted! It appears that this account has indeed changed hands as the email address was changed on July 22, 2017, alongside with posting and IP patterns. I've now locked it! In the meantime, DT members can go ahead and paint it red until (and if) we determine the real owner.

Thank you for bringing this up!
1818  Economy / Reputation / Re: This guy is asking for merit which should be earned and not asked. on: May 08, 2019, 02:14:03 PM
Wait I'm confused, I thought the scope of your companies roles was to handle account recoveries. I didn't realize you guys had the authority to also lock accounts prior to account recovery procedures being started, by someone with a claim to the account.

This is a little concerning, and somewhat invasive. I get that you have access to more data than the average person can see. I just don't think the "lock first and prove you own it" approach is best, without a claim being made by an "account owner". Just my opinion, and if forum policy has changed, sorry that I'm unaware.

Edit: Typos
1819  Economy / Reputation / Re: How legit Negative trusted user is on DT! on: May 08, 2019, 01:45:24 PM
I'm going to assume some of the statements lose a little meaning in translation, but will address your concerns non the less.

Iconefirm gave negative trust then I gave with a valid point and also removed that once another person told both people to remove negative trust then I did that immediately. So, how much wrong I did cant imagine and for that point you have excluded which is perfect?

Anyone can include/exclude anyone without any reason but as you have pointed a reason that point can't be right. Your point is baseless because you got the point when there was no negative trust by me. If you want to say it is a valid point to exclude me then I want to say if I make a mistake for giving negative trust which was removed before you saw the trust then you did a wrong for excluding base on the negative trust which was vanished before you saw the trust.
So this time 1 mistake and 1 wrong made a right.
Anyway, have a piece of good luck.

Yes, you did remove the feedback. That doesn't change the fact that you left it in the first place, the act in itself was what I had a problem with. You have also stated you removed it because someone told you to. From my point of view you need some more experience in leaving feedback, or how to handle receiving feedback. You can label it how you want but I feel I have a valid point and will move forward with that, for the time being. Again this is just for what I want to see in my trust network, and does not affect your trust score in anyway.

How I set up my list is right for me, you can label my actions as wrong and that's your point of view. I don't petition others to follow my reasoning or way of doing things. If someone likes my reasoning they can chose to do the same.

~snip~

That's some sound reasoning right there. Keep it up.

Do you still do EMT or strictly PP? Either is fine.
