841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: July 17, 2023, 10:36:54 AM
Someone who is successful at gambling would have to be incredibly smart. I would think that a successful gambler is less likely to have addiction issues. Addicts are motivated purely by greed and emotion and will ignore all logic. To be a successful gambler you need to think rationally. If you become so obsessed with winning more and more money that it leads to an unhealthy addiction then it will be difficult to remain successful.
The addiction thing is so bad I also agree that successful gamblers are not seen as addicts. Their knowledge and skills are high, greed does not touch them that's why they are successful. A successful gambler needs a lot of hard work and dedication also the first rule of online gambling here is low expectations. No, it is not to say that successful gamblers are not guaranteed to win instead they don't always expect to win no matter how small so gamble for fun and avoid any pressure to win.

I think there is a thin line between an addict against a successful gambler.

A successful gambler, like a professional player, can be observed that he is doing what he is being offered to. Basically, it is his job to gamble and to play various card games in order to entertain himself and the viewers. In comparison, gambling addicts can be categorized into two (2), namely the addicts who do it for fun; and the ones who do it for money.

Though they may be seen as different, I sometimes find it confusing on distinguishing the two given the nature of gambling. Maybe these professional players are being paid by advertising agencies, etc. as another stream of income.
842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has already campaign for itself on: July 16, 2023, 09:52:52 PM
Do you know that with the awareness of Bitcoin now you don't need to convince somebody to invest in bitcoin, why before you have to convince people to invest, bitcoin is now a choice of investment which anyone who invested will Google out the process of investing through internet direction, I love to say Bitcoin has plant itself with internet dispensation of information.

While Google searches may refer thousands of BTC articles, it is still somehow complex to fully understand this concept.

Like what some have mentioned, there is really no harm in providing continuous information to others ESPECIALLY when they themselves are the ones who asked about it. BTC is a technical and complex concept that requires patience in order to comprehend given the nature of the system. When kids are involved, it becomes a challenge to explain the system where they can at least grasp the concept of it, while maintaining interest to them.

Though I fully agree that forcing them to learn about BTC can only bring negative impacts to their interest on the subject, helping them understand may fully bring the potential and love in order for them to appreciate this topic further.

843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: July 16, 2023, 09:36:30 PM
it is difficult if someone is too comfortable in gambling which will end up being addicted it is difficult to stop and when they have the desire to stop and do more positive activities only their family can help. if we talk about addiction it will never end but how else sometimes many new people try gambling after that they are lucky to get big wins and from that someone will become addicted because they feel they are getting something big without realizing they will lose continuously when trying to bet and lose after that chasing losses.
Gamblers are desperate and willing to take any risk for the purpose to place wagers in the system. Loss is impossible to avoid; quantifying losses merely contributes to the instability of our emotions, regrets, and feelings of remorse for what we have done. Addiction is the most devastating incident that can happen to a gambler; it is one of the extreme levels that will undoubtedly result in losses and account liquidation. Gambling is simple to begin but extremely difficult to stop; I've come across numerous gamblers who tried everything they could to stop but couldn't, instead preferring to indulge in gambling further.

Unfortunately, gambling addicts resort to gambling as their way of coping mechanism. Instead of making their situation bearable, everything is just worse when this kind of event happens.

In order to fully address these concerns, we have to understand that gambling addiction is a mental disease that people are suffering. If we take it as a negative thing, this will just further complicate matters and we will only be selfishly helping ourselves rather than the persons affected.

I just hope that when dealing with a person suffering from gambling addiction, patience is the key in order to help them. They are suffering- we really have to extend our fullest concern and understanding in order to at least alleviate the situation.
844  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Retiring on bitcoin on: July 16, 2023, 04:53:48 PM
How many bitcoins does a person need to retire, what is the cashout plan and why?

This depends on several factors affecting the wealth of a person.

Generally if a person lives in a third-world or developing country, 1 BTC is enough to sustain them for at least years. Given that the standard of living in those said countries is relatively low, such amount would equate to at least a significant value. Probably around 10 BTCs would be enough for them for retirement.

Though this may be the case for developing countries, people who lived in a developed country has a different value. Obviously, the standard and cost of living are high which means that more than 10 BTCs would require them for retirement.

At the end of the day, it really depends on the status of the person on how they would perceive "retirement" as it is purely a subjective question. For me personally and as someone who is living in a third world country, 10-20 BTCs would definitely suffice as a retirement fund.
845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first experience with gambling? on: July 16, 2023, 04:30:41 PM
Gambling is a game that has an addictive effect. Most people who have joined gambling sites will find it difficult to get out of the gambling circle. It doesn't matter how much you lose at gambling, as long as we still have money, we will continue to gamble

Can you share your first experience playing gambling? and who told you about gambling sites?

I myself know gambling sites from my own friends. I idly and try to deposit. Starting from playing with a little money, after a while I didn't know how much money I had spent playing gambling

I remember my first experience in gambling and I was around fifteen (15) years old at that time.

My father and grandfather were notorious in cockfighting. They even constructed a farm solely on raising fighter chickens and they compete on national TV. I remember, my father brought us to this arena/stadium in our country where it was televised. In a cockpit, there were two (2) sides, either you choose A or B. Before the fight begins, lots of people watching on the stage betted against each other choosing either A or B.

During that time, I was confident enough and chose "A" but my father insisted on choosing "B" instead. It was also my birthday at that time and when the fight started, B lost resulting to all of my birthday cash gone!

From that experience, it really traumatized me as a kid which really compelled me to limit my gambling expenses. Whenever I feel like gambling, this core memory kicks-in and reminds me to stop and re-evaluate the situation.
846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling effects on LGBTQ+ People on: July 16, 2023, 03:33:34 PM
Recently research was held by Dr Reece Bush-Evans who told that online gambling could Hide the sexuality of the LGBTQ+ people and most of these people prefer online gambling as compared to physical gambling for obvious reasons.

The more important concern for the LGBTQ+ people is that they are being treated differently in a casino which may come under harassment. Also, the study says that people at the casino, the staff plus the public have shown discriminatory behavior towards these people.

New Research Explores Effect of Gambling on LGBTQ+ People

I am very curious- why is this issue being told in the first place? LGBTQ has nothing to do with gambling and its effects. In fact, gender should not be an issue to something that is purely for entertainment. I really find it difficult to comprehend the relevance of gender in associating it with casinos. Though this may differ in a physical setting but this varies from person to person.

Though this may be the case, discrimination may manifest in these scenarios but this is applicable in all settings and not just in gambling. I do hope that such discrimination be lessened given that we are living in the 21st century where gender should not be an issue to everything.
847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I avoid and identify scams? on: July 15, 2023, 09:06:49 PM
We know that scam coins are everywhere, mainly advertised on social media, I spent time trying to know the exact way to fish out scam coins but to no avail, despite how inquisitive we could be to generate more funds for ourselves through Cryptocurrency investments and to try new things, we should also be much aware of the scam coins and their possible pernicious damage.

I agree that there are a lot of choices to make regarding cryptocurrency but early dictation of this proposed scam needs to be checked.

Am not much familiar with cryptocurrency, and that's why I need more guidance so that if eventual I see one, I will know how to handle it, this will help me to have a good knowledge on the path to settle for.

The very first step is about knowing the website you are sharing your personal information to. Be wary of websites and giveaways where they are asking for your personal information upon registration. While KYC is normally asked in some gambling websites, but in normal websites, never share your personal information.

If a website is claiming to give free BTCs or any other type of freebies in that regard, never share your personal information without confirming if such website is genuine. Also, never believe that any website would give free BTCs or cryptocurrencies as these things typically never happen nowadays.
848  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where should I play? Asking for recommendations. on: July 15, 2023, 07:38:32 PM
Sorry to say but I don't think I'll ever be recommending any casino for a user here in the forum the best I can do is to recommend you go through their thread since you're no longer a newbie in the forum, I have seen your post in several threads.

The last time I recommended the casino I was using for sports betting for a user here in the forum when they encountered a problem that was caused by them, they PMed me reminding me that they took my recommendation and the casino was quite popular and also reputable in the forum, not some new junkie casino. But in the end, I heard nothing from the guy, I did expect a scam accusation but instead, he just left.

As someone who has represented and is continuing to represent Duel bits, I will strongly recommend this gambling website.

Not only does this gambling website have sports betting but your funds and security are guaranteed. It also has a designated signature campaign which implies that they have allocated a fund for their advertisement.

For slots, I would also recommend similar gambling websites that have an ongoing campaign signature. The fact that these gambling companies have allocated a budget means that they are genuine with all respects to safety and security.
849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: risk nothing, you're risking more on: July 15, 2023, 04:51:18 PM
First let me start by saying a big congratulations to you for realizing that,  and secondly this is a good starting point since you already have a bad experience and wrong idea of what bitcoin investment is from a scam or Ponzi that scammed you or your friends.,

But the most important aspect is that you are here on bitcointalk where you will have access to information that will change your entire understanding of the subject matters of bitcoin and how to properly guide yourself to always be in a better position in your bitcoin holding be it as investment or a daily transaction currency.

Like what I always mention to new investors in the cryptocurrency world, the next best time for you to invest is when you discovered about the latter's existence. The moment you learn about the fundamentals and basics of BTC or any other cryptocurrency, then that would be considered the best time to invest.

By basing it purely on the price history index of BTC, you would see that the price trend increases per year. Given that the next fork will happen in 2024, this will be considered as the next best time to invest before such fork happens.

Now that you have regretted it on the past and realized the missed opportunity, this is the sign to start again and continue investing on BTC. Best of luck, OP!
850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This is not Practical on: July 15, 2023, 04:22:55 PM
I have heard the advice that you should only use money you can afford to lose for gambling. I say that this is more theoretical than practical. Literally no one has money that they can afford to lose. I feel that money for gambling is a matter of opportunity cost. You either use the money for gambling or use it to meet a need. If using money one can afford to lose were practical there will be no need for articles on having a gambling budget or bank roll management. Hey gamblers my question is to you now is, the money you currently plan to use for gambling is it money that you can afford to lose?

Generally whenever I gamble, I always consider it as money loss on my part due to the nature of its circumstances. It is not about the money that I can afford to lose, but it is more of conditioning that every money that I enter in gambling is considered money lost.

In conclusion, gambling is a game of chance where it does not guarantee any absolute form of profit. In return, you experience the adrenaline of knowing whether you double your money or lose more in the process, which is a trade-off in itself. If you really want to limit yourself in gambling, then you should only bring only a handful amount of money at your disposal.
851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Thoughts On First Time Lottery Bettor Who Won Big Amount? on: July 15, 2023, 12:48:53 PM
Lottery here in our country is being run by our government and the majority of the citizen in our country are lottery bettors for many years, I personally know people who are betting for ten or more years but they still have not hit the jackpot I wonder what these people think or if you're a lottery bettor for many years and you read that one first time bettor hit a huge jackpot in a lottery.

Will you feel envious? Ok with it? or motivated?

Filipino first-time bettor wins 15 million Dirhams in Dubai lottery

I do think that once you do something over the years, it becomes part of your routine where you do not expect anything from it. Betting the lottery for years is something that is done routinely- people will not win this if they do not continuously try and attempt to do it.

While this may be the case, I would definitely envious if a first-time bettor tried the lottery and won the jackpot. But at the end of the day, those are the odds and numbers do not lie. Even if the chances of you winning the lottery is astronomically low, I would, still, do and try it!
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it Advisable joining Bitcoin signal group? on: July 14, 2023, 05:23:26 PM
Free signal group, you can join. If they later ask you to pay money or luring you to pay money, leave the group.

If it is a pay signal group, avoid them and do not join. If they can trade and make money from trading, they will not ask anyone to pay.

What people are doing is to look for victims of what they (the scammers ) are not professional at and use it to scam their victims.

Signal groups are created in order to at least teach beginner traders the basics of trading. They teach you the fundamentals in order to understand techniques and instruments to understand both the extrinsic and intrinsic factors in forecasting cryptocurrency prices on the market.

Though this may be the case, majority of these signal groups have been created in order to perpetuate fraud. They take advantage of the feeble minds of beginners by asking ridiculous amounts of prices and charge them weekly.

This is also the reason on why some signal groups are just not worth it given that there are free courses being offered on most social platforms and videos.
853  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever been scammed ? on: July 14, 2023, 04:22:17 PM
Has this happened to you or someone you know ?

Oh definitely and it brings back memories!

Last 2017, the infamous "USI TECH" visited our country (Philippines) in order to host an event where we were able to meet and greet the developers. Since my friend who owned around ~120 BTCs at that time convinced me to try this investment scheme (ponzi), I was influenced by it given the young spirited teen I was (19 years old). At that time, I invested around $100 worth of BTCs which was definitely expensive given my current financial condition at that time.

During the first month, I saw my BTCs actually in increasing in value by purchasing these so-called "packages." But after the third (3rd) month (they promised that our BTCs would mature at the sixth (6th) month), the website crashed and everything was gone!

From here, I learned a valuable lesson to never trust any ponzi-schemes as there is truly no safe way for you to secure your funds.
854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What could make you get into a fight with your fellow gambler? on: July 14, 2023, 03:31:26 PM
What could make you get into a fight with your fellow gambler?

At the end of the day, it boils down to basic attitude, moral compass, and decency as a human being. If a person is outright disrespectful in a gambling table where he does not observe the normal attitude, then that would actually compel me to at least correct him; if not, leave the table and switch to another dealer. If he still continues with this kind of attitude where he would still bug me, then that would actually force me to fight him.

Quote
And would you agree at anytime to double cash with your fellow gambler to place a bet using his account, on the notion of increasing the potential win.

Doubling the cash does not mean that there is a notion of increasing the win. It just gives the player more rewards at the end but the risk remains the same. Well, I would actually consider doubling the cash but this would only happen at least once or twice in the same period.
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You must do this if you want to QUIT or NOT on: July 14, 2023, 02:37:19 PM
Apart from the gambling budget it is also important to allocate a limited amount of time for your gambling activities. By setting a time limit, you can ensure that you don't spend excessive amounts of time gambling and prioritize other important aspects of your life.

Also Avoid chasing losses cause it is the beginning stage of getting addicted to gambling and Don't Use Gambling as an Escape from any of your problems especially when it related to your financial status.

I definitely agree with this suggestion.

Gambling is an entertainment activity where a person finds joy in feeling such adrenaline. By viewing it only as a mere entertainment, this would negate the effect of being addicted to it if only limited time was given and catered to this act. In addition, this would also make you feel less-invested, thereby decreasing the effect of you totally getting addicted to it.

I just really hope that if a person really wants to quit gambling, then he should commit to it. If he feels half motivated to do it, the chances of you recovering and gambling again would be much higher.

856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympic Games, but doping is allowed?! on: July 13, 2023, 09:40:36 PM

personally, as a person who likes sports, I am curious about what this new sporting event that allows the usage of performance-enhancement drugs could lead to.

I believe the organizer of this new olympic games is the real doped. I doubt world record will acknowledge a milestone achievement made by someone under the influence of synthetic strength booster. This kind of games is not healthy and promotes sports that will have a side effect on human body. I’m afraid that in worst case scenario, There might be some casualty here since people will do anything just to win even if they will take more drugs just get more strength without considering the risk to the body.

Very intriguing announcement but will they be acknowledge?

I agree with your statement.

Using drugs that temporarily boosts your performance is something that is artificial and synthetic- it does not feel genuine at all. With this, inconsistencies may happen which entirely defeats the purpose of sports-betting. Not to mention, if such were allowed, then teams would instead fund their development of these "drugs" instead of actually practicing their respective skills for the game.

While this may be the case, I am still curious, however, about these so called "enhanced games" and on how drugs can affect the performance of these athletes. I am just worried that ingesting too much of these pills may bring significant health impacts on the long-run.
857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Signs that indicate you are not addicted to gambling on: July 13, 2023, 09:25:21 PM
Don't self diagnose, it's bad.

When you're not an addict, you will search about signs of gambling addict and there are few signs that same like your habit, you will diagnose if you're an addict and vice versa. It's better for someone visit a doctor and ask them if you're an addict or not, so you will get a proper answer since they more know about your problem.

I think that a person who is more aware of his/her condition about gambling is less likely to be addicted on the said venture. Even if a person self-diagnoses, the fact that he/she thinks that he needs to do it is healthy for them.

I do think that a person who overthinks about their actions is less likely to fall into this addiction. While this somehow ruins the entertainment, this is the safer route given that lots of people fall and get addicted without them even knowing that they are addicted to gambling.
858  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is ahead is very dangerous on: July 10, 2023, 06:30:26 PM
I do recommend OP that you post this on the scam accusation website so everyone can be informed about this warning and threat to newbies about this.

While such project may have their official website, you can never be so sure due to the frequency that these scammers create these types of scams. They tend to almost rinse and repeat every aspect of airdrops, fake giveaways, and other similar acts in order to attract the attention of curious newbies. Even if this kind of act is not new, it is still recommended to post these kinds of warnings for everyone to know.

Remember that prevention is better than cure. Newbies, always be cautious whenever you see giveaways like these. If something is almost too good to be true, always doubt it and overthink it!
859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 10, 2023, 02:57:45 PM
Honestly am new here and with my little time that i have spent in this forum i have observed, and i wanna ask the forum mate if that is posible because i saw it happening amonge the forum mate and the person that invade this platform for me,people in this forum who are connected in one way or the other are trading on their sendable merit not only the their sndable merit but orher way of trading on merit is going on in this forum,so my question is,is it good and permitted to do such on the forum,

No- I do not think that buying merit is acceptable in this forum. Not only do you cheat the system but you are also engaging into a fraud activity.

Given that merits are discretionary acts, a person may freely merit any post/thread depending on the situation. But if you are planning on buying merits, be ready to face the consequences. While it may be relatively difficult to prove the degree of participation in buying merits, once enough proof has been compiled then your account may most likely be banned.

I guess OP would have thought of many ways on how he could get some merits if such could be allowed by the forum
Maybe his curious. Buying and selling of merits arent allowed, but doing for accounts is not advisable. This statement means its allow but dont discourage. If some of these guys wanted that merits badly, then they can just bought accounts with smerits. However without prohibiting the trading of accounts, this kind of modus wouldnt stop. So this rule must be created in order to avoid exchanging of merits.

It is highly discourage and once they are caught doing this act, they are facing severe consequence. There is also that fat chance of their accounts being banned by the moderators if overwhelming evidence has been proved that they indeed bought merits.
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my small investment on: July 10, 2023, 02:40:27 PM
I bought a $14.55 bitcoin a few days ago when it was at 22k. Again Bitcoin came to 19k. However, I did not sell bitcoins. I was convinced that the price of Bitcoin would rise again. I buy $50 worth of bitcoins again. Got some profit on this small investment. Looking at Bitcoin 24k today. I will keep it for a long time and will not sell it now. I think at some point bitcoin will pump a lot

Since I can't invest more dollars, I don't have that much money. Still will invest as much as possible.

Like what everyone has probably mentioned, only invest the money that you can afford to lose and earn at the same time. I do admire your persistence given that you put your extra money in investing in BTC. Normally, people would panic if they see their investments lose its value but you remain level-headed and kept your cool.

These are the signs that you indeed believe that the investments on BTC would reap in the future. Do not worry as these kinds of price changes happen in a daily basis given the volatility of cryptos. Once you understand this concept, you will definitely not be afraid to invest further! I wish you the best of luck, OP!
