@600watts

Eligius looked like they were getting ddos'd or had some server issues. Went down hard and slowly recovered. Should be back to full speed now.

As for KNC portal. I think when Eligius went down, everyone immediately jumped onto the portal to switch pools. And perhaps the database exploded lol.

So portal is pretty much dead at the moment.

edit: Just checked now. The portal is back up Roll Eyes

Now I want to know how a whole datacenter went down for knc hosted customers LOL.

Or is there some maint I'm not aware of.

Looking at mine. It's 0GH/s. Looking at bargraphics. He went from 4.5TH/s to 500GH/s. Which is pretty strange. He still has one miner up and running out of 10.

Mmm seems like he's slowly going down to 0GH/s now.

They should just get out of the data center business and stick to what they are good at.  Making miners and ignoring customers.

+1

The only thing that I don't understand is the ignoring customers. Feels like we're considered a nuisance and don't deserve to know where we are.
A little truth and regular updates would save a lot of grief. If it weren't for Bitcoinorama , we'd be almost completely in the dark. A good reason not to attack him personally even if you don't agree with what he says. He's made the effort. KnC haven't.

Dhenson and bargraphics. FYI, I'm having similar problems as you are. I brought up my unit on the semi private pool last night and it briefly hashed at 100GH/s with a 5-10% rejection rate before going to zero.

I know that KNC is working on it, but damn - this is really turning into a shit show for us and for them, if they have to keep compensating us and pulling their hair out to make it work.

Besides the actual problems our choices for monitoring the situation aren't good. If the customers leave the miners set to the knc pool, there is no way for us to monitor hashrate, payouts, rejection rates, etc and we have to trust that knc is doing this - which at this point I don't. If we run it on our own pool, then we can monitor it but we have no way of knowing if knc is paying attention to these units (perhaps through remote cgminer api) so that they'll tend to problems that occur.

I'm really not enjoying the hosted experience at all so far - I hope that the next few days that experience changes dramatically.

* update *

Since Friday at about 8PM, my hosted unit has finally been hashing at over 500GH/s and is running very well. Does it suck that I lost another ~ 3BTC between Wednesday and Friday? Yes. However, customer support and caring certainly is far above the competition and in the end KNC has delivered.

I'm also due to finally receive my replacement card for the defective Jupiter that would only run on 3 cards today. Although not perfectly, KNC has certainly delivered for me. Hopefully for everyone that's waiting, they'll ship all their remaining October units quickly!

With the volume of requests they get, unfortunately it's necessary to follow up every email with a phone call. I've gotten best results by calling around 5-6AM Eastern time or 11AM-12PM Stockholm time. They just don't have either the urgency or the bandwidth to properly reply to each email, but at least they do answer the phone.

(...)

The extra hash rate is great, for people who got the miners early (1st/2nd day received), but for the people that are getting it late, we are screwed. All that extra hashing rate is just raising the difficulty even higher for us. We are not likely to see ROI+. For all of our sake, I really hope the price of BTC raises a whole lot more (which it seems to be doing the past few days).

As you know I like to point out things getting lost. This time it will be pro KnC since 99% of all post are contra KnC.

Concerning your quoted statement, you did not consider the following:
Higher hashrate increases difficulty, but in the same moment have have more GH/s on your own, so your %-share does not suffer from it.
It's resulting in pushing older hardware faster out of the network while you still have your part, so it's actually an advantage against other manufacturer's customers as your %-share may increase. In addition, power consumption is decreasing, so you can run it way longer than though in first place.

With 550GH/s of your Jupiter, you still make 1 BTC a month when diff reaches 8.675,00M (equals more than 62PH/s).

In case you bought a mining device, because you had some money left and you have fun with running, monitoring and troubleshooting hardware&software 24/7 - great you will be very happy about your decision as it returns sth. instead of just consuming money.

In case you bought a money-printing machine making you rich in no time, no manufacturer will be able to satisfy you ever and you should sell your order.
Those unhappy with hosting should ask themselves whether there wouldn't be any downtime at all when running miners on your own - as well as whether you would have achieved a higher hasrate during this timeframe.

I can feel your anger as well as fear of loosing money.
I felt the same not long ago, but since they have achieved to run it with more than 500GH/s and at the same time with even less power consumption AND delivery close to original time frame: I'm very relaxed, confident and happy about my geek-porn investment. I cannot imagine that it works out that nice for Hashfast/Cointerra customers, too. Let's see.

In addition, first compensations had been passed to customers, show me another ASIC manufacturer doing so!
And if you're that unhappy about your order, what's about selling it with a profit margin so you can relax?

Yes, I know KnC has room for improvements, but I'd like you to ask yourselves how it would work out for us in case they decide 'those btc-miner ppl are too stressful, messy and rude, c'mon let's do sth. else.

That I admittedly haven't. Have emailed a few times, and finally got the stock response indicating they were targeting all orders to be shipped by Oct. 15. I'm roughly in the middle of the order list and even if they can pull it off, this is just a piss poor situation with difficulty exploding. I would have just as soon had a 400 GH/s device in-hand 7-14 days ago than for them to barely, just barely meet their obligation by shipping my order out at the last minute.

BTW, thanks for not accusing me of trolling.

I also invested a load of money, sure i want to do loads of money! But i see it as a middle to longtime investion! I believe strongly in Bitcoins and the Bitcoin-Economy! I want to Support the Network of BTC
Just remember, the Bitcoins you mine today, will be worth minimum 1000% more then today in a few years!
I'm deeply relaxed.....

Indeed it blows. One of their hosting package lists:

Quote
24/7 Monitoring by KnCMiner staff

I doubt that is the case at all Roll Eyes

And yes, their pool/portal page is still throwing PHP errors.

Just had a very positive conversation with Customer Support.  The guy I spoke with actually took notes of my symptoms and seemed to be taking the issue seriously.

Here's to hoping I wake up in the morning to a fully functional hosted Jupiter!

Frankly, from my experience, it feels like they hired a psychologist for one of the customer support positions.  Roll Eyes

I am happy of the work KnC did so far but I am very worry about the announced delivery date (15th of October) which is tomorrow.

I totally support Bitcoin and I did not buy KnC Saturn miner to make huge profit. But if I do not get at least a break even result, then I will stop any further mining activity with KnCMiner and I will consider my "cooperation" with KnC as a failure.  Angry

If KnC do not ship my purchase the 15th of October, then I will request a compensation of 0.7 BTC/delay day (this is the estimated daily mining production of a Saturn).  Angry

If KnC could not ship my purchase the 15th of October, then I would like to know what is KnC estimated delivery date? And, if so, what compensation do they agree?  Huh

I just received this as a response to a enquiry:

We are still on track with mid-October production and you will receive a UPS tracking number as soon as your order is ready.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here you go:

First I’m sorry you feel the need to send such messages.

Secondly I will add that you will not receive any compensation for what you consider late delivery. Under the terms of sale you  agreed to. It’s clearly stated that delivery dates are for information only and are non-binding. We are still going to deliver your miners as fast as we can but we are not going to give compensation for any loses you think you have incurred.
I may also draw your attention to the fact that you have agreed to a business to business purchase not a business to consumer purchase.

That is the gist of it.
