Orama,
There is nothing that you or I can say that will change the truth.  It is what it is.  The truth is that this thread is the primary conduit for the expression and resolution of issues in the KNC community.  While OrSoc's contribution to this endeavor has been an extreme success, KNC's contributions have been almost exclusively failiures.

Some of these are:
Sam's misguided estimation that 100% of us can't find our asses with both hands.  He imagines a market for those who want a turnkey, idiot proof mining machine no matter how long it takes.  Very few of us fit that profile.
Total ignorance of repeated requests to 'just ship the boards'.  We'll join in and help make them work.  (That pesky open source thing).

Then, there are the one's he might admit:
Shipping assembled top-heavy fans despite strong warnings.
Light crushed boxes save the machine theory.
Underpromise means maintain radio silence.
Over deliver means whatever you want it to mean, subject to change at will.
The only real value that he has to sell is the asics and controller boards.  He would have nothing but elated customers if he would just sell and support them.  Forget the cases, assembly, hosting, especially the pool.  These have all created nothing but ill will.
Most of all, he doesn't realize that the people in this forum are the source of his millions.  We put him in that spot and we can take him out.

My 2 cents

While I know this isn't the standard case, I did in fact receive my Jup on 10/4 and it has been running flawlessly ever since.  Right now, it is hashing at 540gh/s on average on bitminter.  Thats far over what I originally 'reserved' back in April...  Something like 2x the speed.  I would not hesitate to order from this company again in the future.  Mining is a zero sum game, any additional unit that is shipped results in me losing bitcoins.  Why do you think people aren't lining up to sing praise for the organization?
Thank you for asking.  I'm a little surprised that it's not obvious to you.  I would be perfectly happy to be in your shoes, but I'm not.  My hardware is sitting in a stack gathering dust while Sam et. al. feverishly work to solve all of the problems in the world.  All that I can do is sit on my hands or ask in every way imaginable that Sam just box up what he's got and SHIP IT.  I knew there would be bumps in the road, but never imagined that they would simply sit on the goods while they scratch their heads.

And there I was trying to warn ppl (over a few hundred pages) and being called a  troll... Wink

On the bright side, you should have a miner that's 30% faster (OK, if they ever make it work consistently at 550GH/s, for everyone - even if the tardiness of delivery has very much cancelled out any speed advantage). ORSoC is having fun with their project (I wonder who owns the assembly plant), KNCMINER customers a bit less (to misquote Sam, it's a business to business contract, not a business to consumer contract, so F U).

OTOH, the ppl that complain that their miners haven't arrived yet and that difficulty is going through the roof can't really blame KNCMINER for the complete loss of revenue. No one knew what the difficulty would have looked like today and no one knows what it will look like a month from now.

Most people are in the middle. If you have a system that rewards productivity (capitalism) then it pushes people in the middle to prosper. If you have a system that rewards laziness (socialism) then it encourages people in the middle to freeload.

Come on, that is just not true. Capitalism does not reward productivity. Where did you learn that?
Capitalism in it's pure form maybe, but then Sozialism in it's pure form works pretty well to for everyone involved, since everyone is middleclass.

Capitalsim in reality creates inequality on a large scale. Don't trust me? Look at all countries operating under that system. Even in Germany, where we have a sort of social capitalism here are jobs that pay less than 3€ an hour, and that will not change despite you being more productive; Middleclass is the class that gets squeezed out of money the hardest since, like you mentioned, the middle class prospers. The rich are the real winners because it does not hurt them one bit to have to pay 10% more in taxes (What are 500k if you earn a Million plus Bonuses); The lower class has to pay nearly no taxes because they have nearly nothing.

You know what Capitalism creates? Old people having to work until they are 67, and people standing at festivals with garbage bags begging for your trown away beer cans so they have a little more to live.

Off topic alert.

Most people are in the middle. If you have a system that rewards productivity greed (capitalism) then it pushes people in the middle to prosper the bottom. If you have a system that rewards laziness cooperation (socialism) then it encourages people in the middle to freeload not suck on a barrel of a gun.

they do have their own support forums. Which everybody has been real helpful. I've asked the bunch of questions and always got a good answer. I placed my order with the pre-order number of about 150 and order number of 1100. The Jupiter arrived on the 8th and has been working well. There have been some issues along the way. But they have been releasing newer firmware which has really helped with the energy usage and errors. At the same time not hurt the speed too much. I'm hashing at about 500 GH average and am using .95 firmware.

If you're not happy with your purchase, I would contact them and ask for a refund. Do not automatically file a charge back without first contacting them to resolve any issues you may have. As chargebacks can affect the merchant account negatively. It not only costs the company a chargeback fee but also it goes on your record.

still using btc guild and thinking should i change to Eligus
any idea?

idea - lets go to p2pool

Anyone mines on P2Pool?
many ones  Grin
have i have some suggestion of P2pool? i have about 1500ghs atm

find some suggestion here - http://elizium.name/faq.html

KNC products don't work well with p2pool.  They didn't design work restarts properly, you will lose a lot of work and money.  If you have a KNC product, and want to use p2pool, contact them and ask them to fix it.

you're referring to this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.msg3294238#msg3294238 right?

it is quite annoying also with normal pool that work with stratum. Everytime a block is found you got this on your cgminer:

Code:
[2013-10-09 19:42:36] Stratum from pool 0 detected new block
 [2013-10-09 19:42:36] KnC running flushwork
[2013-10-09 19:42:36] KnC: accepted by FPGA 1 works, but only 0 submitted
 [2013-10-09 19:42:36] Rejected 00815da7 Diff 506/326 KnC 0  (Job '26017' not found)

and your hashrate promptly decrease and it takes time to climb up again to normar rate.

it also happen with i use btc guild
but it wasnt decrease too many work i think

sure you're right it's not that the hashrate fall down to zero and stay there for 10 mins.

it's a lot less problematic than this.

the problem is that it happens not only when your pool find a block, but every time someone find a block, be it one of the million active pools or a solo miner. this happens quite frequently.

edit1: to get an idea on how frequently a block is mined look at https://blockchain.info/blocks

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Wait, day 2 is not a June 10 paid order, someone correct me?

I paid the 9th and am not a "day 2 order" - on top of that i'm still sitting "in progress".

"Shipping in order of payment my ass."  Roll Eyes

It has been said time and time again,

Day 1 and 2 are from the Original Queue, you get to hold your "Pre-Order" spots.

Everything after (and maybe some day 2 slots) are on shipped based on payment order.

This is not something new. Has been known for months now.

Actually this happens about every 10 mins, well more like 7 with the hashrates lately, on a regular pool or solo mining.  P2pool issues 30 sec work, so the effect is much greater.  It would still benefit all miners if they handled work restarts more efficiently, and every little bit helps with current hashrate increases.  I think it flushes when new diff work is sent also, so setting a static diff on the pool helps, instead of letting the pool adjust the diff.

Alright. So did Day 1 and Day 2 customers get more than 7 days to "hold their order" spot and pay later and still be ahead of others? (me)

This I am unsure of, I know they definitely had a set period of time to pay in order to hold that position. From what I recall there was a little drama over the way this was handled but that passed.

I believe it was only 7-10 days to make a payment (something about wire transfers etc...)

June 10th was the last day to pay and still hold your pre-order queue spot.  Once all "Day 2" orders are processed, it is strictly by pay date after that.  Order number are irrelevant btw.  People should be posting their "pay dates" as they get tracking numbers so we can see where KNC is at in the queue.

For the record:

Order #17XX - Paid on 6/9/13 - Status: In Progress (over a week)

With generic reply when asking about this (last week, reply recieved today)

Quote
We are working through the order queue as quickly as possible based on the payment dates of the orders. As soon as your order is fully produced and shipped a tracking number will be sent to the email address which was used to register for your account.

Regards,
Liam

They held off shipping to fix the "Caps blowing" issue. Your unit was likely getting assembled when they made this call.

Haven't heard many more stories about the caps blowing other than Anti-KnC people claiming the boxes blow up and cause nuclear fallout (lol) so shouldn't be much longer.

I paid June 25 and went to "In Progress" several days ago. My guess is that they just set all orders that were supposed to be shipped out by the 15th to "In Progress". Does anyone know what the pay date is of the orders that are being shipped out now?

It appears they are still working on the pre-order queue. Once they are finished with the day 2 orders they will start working by pay date. No one has confirmed a tracking number past a day 2 order yet.

I have orders that are supposed to be delivered by the 15th but they are not even in-progress yet.  My guess is that in-progress means they are building your unit. They are likely building them in order by pay date.
