Thanks to some glitch on blockexplorer, two rounds (10663, 10664) are marked as invalid, but they're fine. I'll fix it tomorrow...

5 invalids? That 14 hour block was bad enough, not to mention the bitcoin price dropping like a rock. I want to forget this week...

Any guesses as to how many of the 8 invalid blocks over the last day and a half are actually valid?

Interesting how the hash rate varies some days in the 100s gigahashes. Will GPUMAX involvement hurt the average (and incredibly loyal) miner in any way?

There's a lot of talk about GPUMax's supposed hashing power, does anyone have a figure of what they project to actually have?  Off the top of my head, their hash power (assuming it's of large magnitude) will drop a miner's payout per round, however the increased hashing will help complete blocks faster.  All you really have to do is compare mining at Slush vs Deepbit.  I find I get ~ 1/3 the payout at deepbit per round but they're on average completing 3x as many rounds than we are here.  Effectively it's pretty close to the same returns for a given time period.  I do better with Slush on good days, and on bad days at Slush I'd be better to mine at Deepbit.  With that said, I'm pretty loyal to Slush but the last couple of weeks have been a beating (As it has for everyone else).  So it's like any other variable in the variance game. It'll all balance out over time.

Note: I don't mine a deepbit, my backup is BTCGuild, but the numbers work for theoretical analysis.

Yeah, im curious as to how much hashing power they are actually going to be adding to the network.  From what I understand a lot of their power will be provided by existing miners who sign up and decide to route their rigs through them.

Im sure they will have to have their own farm, but how big it ends up being is anyone's guess at this point...

GPUMAX has it's own hashing power for load balancing purchases but its nothing like the hashing power we manage through the site.  We don't disclose how much power we manage but I can tell you that we rate limit the speed on some pools that seem to struggle with bursts of power.  We realize that it's hard on any pool to instantly take on an additional 100-300GH in bursts and we're working on balancing the speeds so they slowly climb over a period of time.  Slush is a popular pool for our customers and we look forward to making it as easy as possible for Slush to manage it.

Blockexplorer is still down, so I marked invalid blocks as valid manually. As a bonus I paid out also unconfirmed blocks (so you can see "0 BTC" in unconfirmed balance right now). As a side effect, last few namecoin rewards are zero. Nothing wrong happen, I'll fix it tomorrow, but I'm too tired right now so I'm affraid of some stupid mistake...
