Will be deleting any spam or flaming.

(Hopefully, Devtome isn't /dead. Probably either a minor system corruption, or a inexperienced hacker.)

South Park is on:

"I broke the dam" (was it really anyone's fault that Devtome went down?)
u barely afford food to eat how can u afford cable and internet?

This is not really a topic for this thread, but as I explained in the other thread, my family is not poor. Just me. So I get minimal help, but it comes with maximum complaining.

If everyone is thinking outside the box, there is a new box.

In the interest of something else to do with DVC and because I love the idea of combining books with writing ala DVC (thanks FinShaggy for the idea) I present a simple web-shop with Textbooks and Non-Fiction books for sale in DVC via CoinPayments.net:

https://andarazoroflove.org/shop/

Only a dozen or so up now, will be a few dozen more listed in the next couple days as I get busy doing. I work for a land-grant university so these kinds of knowledge books accumulate quite a bit. I'm also toying with the idea of PC components for DVC, but we'll see what happens.

I've added this to the front page under the "popular links" section.  (Buy Books With Devcoin)
Also, I've marked the newer links with the "New!" designation.

I also will delete any flame wars or spam as I have been frustrated reading all the meaningless posts!

Doing some work on the site, might bounce up / down. Gotta figure out whats causing the issues with the user DB.

Well the host finally came out and admitted its their issue. Makes a lot more sense considering nothing had been changed. Just waiting on them to correct it now.

I saw all this about Devtome being down... and decided tonight wasn't the best time to write Smiley

Thanks to everyone who is working on fixing it, and hopefully it will be back up and running very soon.

On another note, I registered for an account on MCXnow and did some trades, and I have to say so far I'm REALLY liking it.

FWIW, If you click on my Devtome article Fat Cats and Mercenaries, the most recent version just shows a bunch of gibberish.  However, one could read the article by going back to the revision histories.

I haven't tried to log in to the Devtome since all this trouble started.  I'm just mentioning the above in case it's helpful to those who are working on solving the problem.

Still broken for me, this shouldn't affect the next round's payouts, or will it?

The host has admitted fault, but I am awaiting them to complete tickets that are open to correct the issues. After that we are going to go clean up the havoc caused by the bots.

Is there a way to implement a captcha to access the registration page?

That might help!

There's really no reason to allow self-registration. It does no good since you need to end given the "okay" from an admin prior to any of your posts holding value. Doing manual registration also makes it easier to ensure that new writers are handled properly, rather than skipped over.

I have noticed there are a lot of accounts signed up that aren't writers.  Are those all bots?  Or, is there any benefit to having an account that just allows you to read stuff?

I think some of them are older accounts, maybe from the "teen" rounds (13-19) that dropped off later.

It really is just bots. About 36k accounts actually. But since registration requires approval,  they are just causing problems.
