Imo, this is a multi - pronged problem. Not only was the packaging inadequate but more importantly we have a design problem. going from 8 to 4 VRM was a mistake.  Double the phases means half the current, means smoother power, means more stability for over clocking, means less heat, means less blowing up.  I doubt it's just firmware.

0.93 on both, had 0.94 on them but found HW was higher.

Yes that seems to be the simplest solution at the present.

I will be swapping out the stock fans for 175cfm ones.

After a night of hashing I must report disappointing performances...

Given that the speed is between 450 and 500 GH/s, my Juliter draws more than 900w at the wall, with high temps and frequent Cgminer reboots.

It seems clear to me that where the first "batch" performed well, this second release (with half of the components on the board) has a lot of issues as many are reporting here and on KnC forums.

And YES I've upgraded the firmware, and YES it's getting proper cooling. And YES I had to remove the top.
And YES I tested the whole set of firmware sets, with 0.94 being the only that's working almost stable.

As a last note, I'm using a Seasonic Platinum PSU, not the Corsair that, assuming the rumors from KnC forums again, is giving some power issues (guess why, it's 860w certified and the Jupiter wants 900 watt!)

Should we do a meanwhile a PSU survey?

meeh, I'm scared to open this thread and read couple of pages back - it is getting worse day by day and it seems that nobody except KNC (maybe some hardcore fanboy) is happy with his miner.

almost everybody reporting packaging issue, huge amount of HW errors, unstable FW, overheating and there are also some photos of burned boards. guys with hosting still waiting and the luckier ones mining with 20% of promised performace.

lack of communication from KNC side still continue, lot of guys here waiting days and days for non-specific common mail, without any new information or added value.

I paid 86BTC and today it is 7 days, when I have my Jupiter at home. I should be lucky one..but honestly, If KNC offer me buy back of my jupiter for 70BTC, I will do it right now. sad. Situation of majority here really sucks. Strong nerver guys..

I hope that's right because it looks to me like they have a shitload of bad chips and only found out when they arrived and didn't perform, and are now having to test them as they go which is slowing them right down. They definitely didn't have time to test them before they announced that happy hashrate in the video and sent a bunch out. I remember people saying that rigs arrived with no activity on their pool accounts too, so maybe the first time they ran in anger was when they arrived at the customers?

People overvalue one or two weeks. In fact, your miner will make only slight return in two weeks.

Cant speak for others, but Im mainly curious how you will react when HF runs in to similar problems and delays. Their schedule is every bit as unbelievable as KnC's was. HF chips havent even made it through the fab yet and already they are running a week behind schedule making their october promise all but impossible.  The most tangible thing we've seen from HF so far is renderings and a FPGA simulation, not even running on their own PCB. Ie, about what we've seen from Cointerra which isnt due for another 2-3 months.

Time will tell if you turn out to be a hypocrite or not.

With the current difficulty increase rate, you can only mine 70% BTC if late for 10 days and 49% BTC if late for 20 days.

I've already said I'll eat my words if the f*ck up is a bad as this. I don't think being late is the issue here. It's mostly product design.

But I really don't think it will be this bad. We'll see though.

I hope that's right because it looks to me like they have a shitload of bad chips and only found out when they arrived and didn't perform, and are now having to test them as they go which is slowing them right down. Maybe they can make a firmware where cores become disabled, but then they are re-enabled quicker or something, or maybe a firmware where disabled cores are enabled, but at 80% of what they were trying to do , or something.
