921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ambivalent attitude to gambling on: June 18, 2023, 03:13:23 PM
Artificial intelligence is involved in the future even more people in the casino. The gambling industry cannot be stopped
About lotteries - I do not believe and do not buy tickets

Lotteries I do believe but I don't buy tickets as you need to play several years for every week or bi weekly when they held the draw of them and the chances to win after several years still remain slim.Of course the gambling industry cannot be stopped as they come up with all sort of new slot machines which greatly deceive you that they are not taking your money when in fact they are taking it,they operate with the "slow killing" mode of operation and we rarely are aware that our money is going away.Whatever attitude we have toward gambling we need to make sure to not cross the line as after that level only bad things are in serve for us.

When it comes to lottery, I do personally view it as an act of donation and I never expect anything as a return. Given that lottery tickets are relatively cheap, there is relatively little to no harm to just try your luck everyday for a chance of winning instant retirement from your lifestyle.

In my country, lottery tickets are cheap and almost everyone tries it. I have witnessed several people who won at least once a week and there is no harm to just try it, well at least on my end.

With regard with AIs, nothing can stop its revolutionary innovation in the future but I still doubt that it can affect the gambling industry significantly. Sure, it may help gamblers with data but that is its limitations.
922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: June 18, 2023, 12:04:57 PM
I take a very good advantages of using the information channels to make sure i stayed updated from whatever is going on in general sports activities, this is best used with the influence of my mobile device once am connected to the internet, the world has so advanced in technology whereby everything that we needed can be easily achieved through the use of the internet on social media, there are many platforms as well on areas that we best want to get information on, once we make research on them, we can get the required updates through their information channels.
As long as the information you get comes from a trusted source, it can allow you to choose a team with great potential to win. And the advancement of the internet today makes it easy for us to find reliable sources, and maybe we can get many of them. And I think trusted sources have more information than other places. But we also still research before placing a bet and ensure that our choice has a chance of winning.
There are reliable source and also there are fake source so we need to choose and read carefully before we click as we all know that not all the time internet gives us a good and accurate news and like in betting in sports we need to be updated what teams are now in series or who's fighters fighting. So we need to know it, I that we can put our bet and have the advance and high chances of winning .
Yes, because if we search for information from the internet, there are lots of websites that can provide the information we need, it's just that we don't know whether the source of the information is really valid or not because there are so many sources of information that provide false statements or are just back issues.
We gamble if betting on sports betting is better to seek information from official sources of a team such as the official Twitter Blog or other reliable sources.
Considering that many bookies spread incorrect information or predictions so that gamblers lose bets.

With this in mind, you have the responsibility to verify the resources that you encounter and read on the internet. Obviously, avoid any information that came from TikTok or other social media platforms without any references and sources mentioned. Even if a reputable website posts some information, you still have the responsibility to double-check all the information for your own benefit and security.

While social media and the internet is slowly taking over this space, everything is still prone for misinformation. Almost anyone can post something misleading on the internet with just a few convincing words, etc. That is why, double check all the resources and news that you encounter.
923  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How do I secure my wallet on: June 17, 2023, 11:47:54 PM
I wish to have more recommendation or articles to read concerning wallets and it's security values but during my research I was recommended to use electrum wallet but I was confused if electrum wallet is an exchange or a custodial wallet, therefore i need a good direction, clarification and update of suitable wallet from senior colleagues.

For security, avoid putting/investing your money inside exchanges. There are lots of scenarios where exchanges have been scammed and hacked in the past which puts an additional risks to your cryptocurrencies.

Non-custodial wallets generally are safer since you have complete control over your cryptocurrencies with all the security keys and features at your grasp. If I may, I also recommend hardware wallets where you can store your private key in a safety deposit box for maximum safety and less risks in the process.
924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does ranking not guarantee post quality? on: June 17, 2023, 11:30:27 PM
It's been a great day, I've read enough threads. I saw quite a lot of senior/hero/legendary rank discussions, but if I'm honest, I found a lot of comments that have no value, they just write nonsense. Maybe I did too

I realize that the quality of a post is based on the knowledge of the account owner. But stupid people are still needed to continue the discussion, if everyone is smart then there will be no more discussion. So both are needed.

I know for sure there will be a lot of comments that blaspheme me. I may be a newbie but I know that a post has value and a good argument. Maybe I haven't read all the threads, so I have to ask about my statement, that many high ranking members have low quality posts? talk nonsense and have no clear arguments. Is my statement correct?

Your statement is indeed correct. A high ranking user does not equate to a quality post being made. In all honesty, majority of these high-raking users post for the sake of completion in their signature campaign quota for the week. Some do not even bother to improve or make meaningful discussions with others which only contribute to the overall spam in the forum.

What I find truly remarkable is the number of brand-new users who create quality threads in the forum. Ever since the merit system was implemented, an influx of both spams and quality posters were made.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How the casino takes money from you with a deposit bonus on: June 17, 2023, 10:19:20 PM
Personally,  I try as much as possible to avoid deposit bonuses this is because of it accompanying conditions because as a gambler the hardest and most painful experience is when you see that you lost all that you have won trying to meet the conditions of the casino,  because of the usage of bonus code and the requirements that comes with it.

Deposit and any other type of bonuses always come with these conditions and if a gambler is not careful enough to read and properly understand these conditions it may become the failing pits because they may be confronted with high wager conditions to meet up with which may become difficult to do.

I do think that these casino bonuses that are being offered are somehow misleading in nature- there are lots of conditions that must be met in order to receive it. In addition, sometimes, I often experience difficulty in withdrawing my cash due to some internal issues that the gambling company must first determine.

As much as I appreciate the bonuses being offered by these gambling websites, nothing beats a reliable gambling website that offers superior security and reliability when it comes to disposing payments and cash in the process.

Sure, these casinos may offer higher rewards/bonuses but reliability is what makes me stay consistent and loyal at a certain casino even if they offer lower bonuses as rewards.
926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: June 17, 2023, 09:48:12 PM
Gambling have a simple rule. Gamble as long as you are having fun.

It's an entertainment. You pay to be entertained. But Things become difficult when a gambler no longer have the fun but starts chasing their losses. Houses are here for business. They are profiting when you are having fun, they are also profiting when you are chasing your losses. So, when people try to make gambling as their major income source they are just risking their own health, family members health, financial health. Very soon everything will be lost and they will find themselves homeless.

I definitely agree with the statements and points you raised.

Gambling is an activity that is meant to be fun to begin with. The adrenaline that kicks in whenever you are put in a situation where your resources are at stake is definitely gut wrenching but it feels very satisfying to win the match. This kind of adrenaline is sometimes the thing that most people aim for- and profit is only secondary in nature.

I truly believe that people who primarily gamble for profit are the ones who experience more losses in the process. They care too much about winning money for the sake of income though this kind of act is very risky to begin with.
927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: June 17, 2023, 03:50:29 PM
<snip>
Do you think the results of the research above are correct?

I know that the number of women involved in gambling is very small because in some countries, people's views of female gamblers are still very bad and they are considered dirty and unfit to be a wife. maybe the results of this research can be used by gambling business owners in developing their business.

I somehow disagree with the statements that were discussed.

Just to reiterate, everyone hates to see them lose in a gambling match. Regardless of the gender, whenever a person loses money, the initial reaction is they feel guilty about their decisions. Obviously, the first step that they would do is to try to recover their losses by betting once again.

The feeling of disbelief and guilty are gender-neutral reactions that is normal for any person who delves into this kind of activity. Regardless of the gender, everyone hates to lose. Though if there is one thing that I do agree, it is that women tend to control their emotions better compared to men which results to the former having more chances of success in dealing with addiction.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Be Badly Hurt if Binance Goes Down? on: June 16, 2023, 11:58:54 PM
I really am no fan of Binance because I found their KYC annoying. What is not in doubt is that CZ is supposedly one of the most credible faces of crypto. How much harm do you think a Binance implosion would cause Bitcoin? Is the US a big threat to the coin market?

https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/a-former-sec-official-said-the-binance-ceo-and-others-may-face-criminal-charges-soon/

Assuming that Binance indeed goes offline, lots of exchanges would now be affected by this kind of damage.

Binance is without a doubt one of the most trusted exchanges in the market due to its market cap and liquidity. At least almost a majority of cryptocurrency holders have used Binance once in their life as it is considered one of the pioneers of exchanges. It has built its name and reputation from countless of transactions as it is now trusted by almost all users.

If Binance goes offline, this would definitely affect most of the exchanges world-wide. Expect prices of cryptocurrencies to plummet as there would be no reliable exchange for users to transact their coins from users across the globe.
929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin unique? on: June 16, 2023, 11:36:29 PM
Bitcoin is unique because it's filled with surprises. The technology get everybody talking including the government. Bitcoin solves different kind of problem for people, provides jobs, stores and transmit data. It opened a door for people that don't trust the bank and they have never been a breakdown of the network. It's a masterpiece. Every transaction is recorded in a ledger without the need of third-parties. Lots of things happening around the existence of bitcoin shows that it's a surprise package to the world.

I definitely agree with your statement- what makes BTC unique is that it frees people from their transaction. This is also the reason on why others call it "financial freedom" where people can freely transfer products from anyone without any restrictions.

The problem with the modern world is that institutions and third-party programs always interfere with it. For example, you cannot freely transfer cash from one account to another since it has go through the screening process in order to prevent fraud. Though this kind of reason is acceptable, sometimes, government interference becomes too much to the point that it makes it restrictive.

This is the reason on why Satoshi envisioned BTC to be financial freedom- where everything is transparent and reflected in a public ledger (which can be accessed by anyone).
930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: would you play more on casino when your country plans to ban BTC? on: June 16, 2023, 11:23:35 PM
while your country plans to ban crypto trading but online gambling legal, you'll gonna to decide what to do with coins.  would you go play your coins to accumulate or just withdraw and wait for the government to change stance?  no other option.

If the government prohibits the utilization of BTC, I would very much attempt to use it in secret.

To be honest, this is one of the ways in making BTC obsolete- government prohibition by multiple countries can somehow destroy the reputation of BTC and its utilization. Remember when China prohibited mining cryptocurrencies in their country? This brought a significant impact to the cryptocurrency world in which its price in the market somehow lowered.

Personally, I would still attempt to use BTC and maximize the transactions but I would be careful due to its prohibition. If there are penal sanctions when caught, then I might actually wait for the government to change their view and actually allow for its usage in the country.
931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can One's Religion Compel A Compulsive Gambler To Quit Gambling on: June 16, 2023, 11:07:48 PM
I'm not specific to any religion and hopefully, no members here will mention any religion, the topic is in general and not specific to one's religion

Can a compulsive gambler that is newly converted to one religion, compel him to stop gambling?

When we talk about religion it's about changing our ways, ideas, and beliefs so when we successfully help one compulsive gambler to convert from an example to an atheist to one's religion can we compel him to stop gambling?

Is it possible that he will continue playing but secretly?

I think this is entirely possible especially if that person is devoted and dedicated in following the morals/lessons of his/her religion.

Remember that there are countries where religion is the main focus and drive of the country. Specifically, Muslim countries prohibit the use of any gambling activities as they deemed it unlawful. Following this kind of prohibition, it is but obvious that these countries would completely prohibit gambling which makes it almost impossible for the inhabitants to attempt it.

Though this may be the case, there are still people who gamble even if their religion prohibits. At the end of the day, it depends upon the person if they respect their religion which makes them avoid gambling at all cost.
932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think topics/discussion on gambling addictions is too much on: June 16, 2023, 10:52:40 PM
Well, I think it has become repetitive especially that it has been mixed with other variants. Though this may be the case, I am always welcomed whenever I read posts as such. The problem is that majority of the "gambling addiction" problem has been watered down, thereby making it obsolete in the long run. The purpose of such is to warn newbies whenever they see and visit this discussion board so they could engage into discussion.

In conclusion, though it may be repetitive, I somehow understand on why it is always brought up by others. The fact that every page there is a discussion about addiction makes it engaging for newbies so that they could see that the forum cares about dealing with this kind of problem.
933  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling addiction causes ear deafness? on: June 15, 2023, 11:52:33 PM
It's easier to get addicted to online gambling, but I recently met someone who said that he isn't even aware that he was an addict until his blood brother told him that he is going too deep into gambling.

He said that he screamed to him to wake up scarily, he said his brother is his savior, but I replied to him that he is someone who listened, most gambling addicts that I have came across have closed ears, they won't listen to you when you try to warn them or advice them.

Have you meet gamblers that are going way too deep into addiction and you try to stop them and they listen? I've never accomplished that before.

They always behaved deaf, like some spiritual power is in control.

Oh, so you meant ear deafness as a metaphor and not literally the actual physical disease?

Well, the problem with most addicts is that they only listen to themselves. They have their own logic that they try to rationalize in their heads. They also attempt to justify their actions even if they know that what they are doing is already detrimental to their mental and physical health, yet they still continue to feed their addiction by succumbing to eat.

I really believe that in order to combat any addiction, the person must be very determined to help himself/herself in order to get out of that kind of environment.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 12, 2023, 05:22:30 PM
Negative news creates panick and weak hands tend to easily give in and sell off their crypto assets The FTX debacle created FUD and some investors sold their Bitcoin as a result of fear and it crashed the market. SEC suing of Coinbase and Binance might be responsible for the downward movement of Bitcoin to the 25k price mark and sadly that's how the market works. But for some of us that have been around for some time and have seen this happened over again and again, we can say that it's nothing to lose your sleep over, and keep hodling your bitcoin.

Also just to note, remember the factors that affect the price of BTC in the market.

Generally, the price of cryptocurrencies can be affected by two (2) factors, namely: extrinsic and intrinsic factors. The FTX conflict is what we call an extrinsic factor where people would panic sell their cryptocurrencies, thereby increasing supply and ultimately lowering its price on the market.

These are nothing but normal occurrences that happen in this kind of investment. Since lots of factors decide the price of it, exchanges and other types of problems may affect the price of BTC and other cryptocurrencies in the market.
935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: June 12, 2023, 04:45:12 PM
What are your thoughts on Hikaru Nakamura winning Norway Chess 2023?

I heard that this is by far, the worst tournament that Magnus Carslen had participated in which he did not garner a single win in his classical matches. What do you guys think? Will this fuel and ignite the burning passion that he once had with chess and focus on winning on the next following tournaments?

Hikaru had a great game in which he was against Fabiano Caruana on the last game. Though I was really rooting for Fabi to win, it is nice to see other Super GMs winning tournaments other than Magnus.

EDIT:
I really do think that we need to create a separate board for future chess tournament discussions rather than having to reply in this thread, which is about FIDE Candidates that happened last 2022.

936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 12, 2023, 04:38:24 PM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I guess the answer to this question varies per person on the reason on why they gamble in the first place. Some might answer yes; if their purpose is purely for profit; while others may say no, if their purpose is for entertainment.

Quote
Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

I mean, it is fine to have that kind of perspective but this limits the scope on why people gamble in the first place.

For example, lots of celebrities gamble despite them being successful and having boatloads of cash at their disposal. You may ask why- maybe because they like the feeling of the adrenaline kicking, etc.

Quote
Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?

Unfortunately, majority of the money that I have won in gambling is recycled into other games in which I ultimately lost them. Looking back, I really hoped that I stopped and used my money in a much meaningful purpose rather than having to succumb to this endless cycle of winning-betting-losing-betting.
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 12, 2023, 04:22:49 PM
Upon all these allegations against gambling. People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind?

Nope- there is not a single mystery about gambling as everything is all about luck.

Let me ask you a question: have you ever dreamt of winning the lottery? Have you visualized yourself winning thousands of cash by betting only a small amount of money in the process?

Well then, those are just some of the questions in which a lot of people seek to answer. They see themselves winning and experiencing the luck that may yield/give money that can send them straight to retirement. Gambling is not just about entertainment, it is also about luck. The luck that we are talking about here involves cash; and everything in this world revolves around cash. Now, you see the reason on why people still gamble?

The argument that people steal and become parasite to the society is somehow true but this can be avoided with proper discipline and patience. Again, only a fraction of people profited in gambling; whereas a majority of these gamblers lost more than they gained in the process.
938  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take advantage of the price fall. on: June 12, 2023, 04:07:52 PM
Is been a hard knocked to everyone trading bitcoin this seasons especially investment, my friend was sore disappointed for the recent falling of price because he bought $1000 bitcoin but the truth is that we cannot foresees the future in today, this is not the first time the price is Reding down, we should take advantage of this time at least you can use a small to purchase high value bitcoin. I wish we've profound bitcoin price analyst here, many people really wants to know the cause of continues price deflected, if you've ideas please your comments will be very important here. We newbies this days fall victims a lot because of ignorance of cryptosystem. Let's talk as a family.

While this may be true, remember that one of your basis on forecasting the price of BTC in the future would always be the price history chart.

When I first started my journey in BTC, the price was roughly around ~$4,000. Currently, the price sits comfortably around $25,000 which is around a 650% increase where I initially started. By this fact alone, this should at least muster you the courage to invest your extra funds for long-term usage. Considering that the fork will happen in the year 2024, there is a relatively high chance that its price may skyrocket during that time.

At the end of the day, an investment is an investment regardless of the time-frame you have considered. Treat it as something that can yield profit in the near future depending on its price on the market.
939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful and don’t promote a scam campaign on: June 11, 2023, 07:36:24 PM
1xbit is a known scam company. Advertising or even applying in their thread will lead you to have a neg trusted account. What about companies that aren't labeled a scam yet? You left this out of your presentation. If a company is found to be a scam, the manager and the participants should cease all advertising for that company. This will save everyone from getting painted red for advertising that company.

The fact that people still apply and advertise a very well-known scam gambling website speak on how it is managed. All participants who are enrolled in 1xbit are either negatively tagged or blacklisted due to their decision on promoting an ongoing scam.

Unfortunately, I also observed that majority of the participants in the 1xbit campaign comment on threads that are very irrelevant- which has nothing to do with the thread posted by the OP. It is like, they are just posting for the sake of attempting to acquire traction. But they fail miserably since these participants also are either not paid or being trolled by 1xbit in the process.

At the end of the day, everything boils down to your decision on whether you want to promote a scam campaign or not. Sure, they may offer rates that are higher compared to other campaigns but be ready for the consequence when you commit to such decision.
940  Economy / Economics / Re: Quit borrowing on: June 11, 2023, 07:10:23 PM
Investing with borrowed money, especially in assets like Bitcoin, is actually more stupid than planned investing. While there have been cases where individuals have made substantial profits from investing in Bitcoin, it's really not that much, and I find it more fortunate than a well-intentioned scheme. Profit is not certain, so work, and once a case of loss occurs, I think life will turn into a very wonderful new chapter when debt is not paid.
not always what you plan will go accordingly. Some plans may fail leaving you in the middle of nowhere.
So better live within your means and don't borrow or dont take loan unnecessary - try to manage the funds you already have and invest when you have surplus and you can afford the loss too.

I am somehow guilty of this- there will be times where I mismanaged my expenses and at the end of the day, I would end up loaning money where I pay interest rates weekly.

While this kind of practice is considerably acceptable, when it becomes a habit, it can definitely take a toll on the expenses. The interest rates that you pay keep increasing and you would not notice on how much money is loss due to this. At the end of the day, you could pinpoint the exact reason on why this happened in the first place- which is mismanagement of expenses.

I do hope that I get to manage my resources and control my expenditures by avoiding ordering too much. This really has become a problem over the past years and I wish that I break this habit of exhausting my money and relying on loans every now and then.
