August sales were open for some time when I organized the GB. My bet is after 15 August. But don't worry. Difficulty will jump only ~5% so we are good  Cool

Good is a relative term...

Some relief in the BTC price be nice.

Every 3dB is a doubling in power. So it is half as loud.

For insurance purposes are these miners CE, FCC, CSA, UL approved? just in case of fire i wouldn't want to have insurance declined

As far as I know, computers do not have to be CSA and UL approved: otherwise you would not be able to add on cards. I think add-on cards are supposed to be FCC approved (don't think that has insurance implications).

However, when studying electronics, we were told that if a non-CSA/UL approved device is plugged in: insurance may be denied. Even it if was not the cause of any fire. The lesson was to unplug your projects when not in use.

Computers get around that by requiring approval for the power supply. The rails are then limited to something like 200VA (less power means less heat -> less risk of fire). I have noticed sometimes cheaper electronics lack UL approval (don't think they are actually supposed to be sold to consumers without it). I suspect that may be why some stuff is labeled "industrial use only".

Reputation is a wonderful thing. It seems worthless but actually worth the most.

Biggest take away after meeting Rockxie in Hong Kong was that reputation was the most important thing to him and his team. I am glad to see that even in tough times this remains the cornerstone of their business. Looking forward to 2015 I can only imagine what you will bring to the market will still be successful even as others have started to turn away from the fabrication of miners.
1184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 04, 2014, 02:35:21 PM
What price will SP-Tech be declaring on the invoice for Customs ( original purchased price or original minus compensation ).

The invoices will contain the adjusted price i.e. original minus compensation.
Gadi

This is another awesome news Smiley Thanks!

+1 Hoping Norway doesn't ding me too bad when they get shipped to the DC there. Fingers crossed.

I am hoping the compensation make for a shorter haul to breakeven land... come on BTC rise!
1185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 03, 2014, 06:26:52 AM
I don't think trolls will ever stop, because if you go to their message history you see that they are active on 1-3 HW manufacturers posts, trying to demotivate people, and that's all they do. And they didn't ever buy miners from us. For example, s1gs3 writes only in "Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now!" and in this thread, almost every day, and telling how great Antminers are. I don't have anything against antminer, but how often do you see us going to other vendors technical forums, disturbing operation?

And at this point EVERY new person coming to this thread asking relevant question about noise, voltage, rate, warranty, delivery  or whatever will get into conversation with a troll before I even wake up.

I will do my best to convince Guy to ban people who disturb operation from this thread - I think it will be less damaging for our clients then keeping them here. He thinks they will "settle" down, but I don't see think that people should be allowed here to disturb the operation.

And even after I blocked them, I see them in quoted boxes if someone replies to them :/

Meh... just ignore the quotes. Thanks again for stepping up and giving some reassurance about the PSUs etc. I am really keen on seeing my SP30s arrive in Norway and belt out some bitcoins. I am really keen on seeing the 3rd Gen Pick Axe as well when it comes out. Definitely something that DIY's that are still chugging along will want to get their hands on as soon as they drop.
1186  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Troll free thread about the facts of HashFast's bankruptcy on: August 02, 2014, 05:53:08 PM
Oh boy, another DeadTerra adventure in Bitcoin investment.  Sign me up please.

Gamma turned out well after tons of glorious drama.  I got my money back plus some, and have bragging rights for being an (indirect) ASICMINER OG.   Cool

At HashFast, we are excited to be working with Ice Drill and DigiMex. We are particularly pleased that their entry point is low enough for wide and diverse participation.

Please remember we got the ASICs just about 10 days ago and working around the clock to make the FW as good and stable as possible.

Regards`

Thanks for all the hard work. Can't wait to see what magic you can shake out of the box with the FW.

The thing is that I see a couple of idiots bitching, WITHOUT ever ordered or ever had any SP product.

Can you please remove their posts , and please go on with your recent updates?

+1 ...

Even though you said you wouldn't moderate a moderated thread it might be time. Or opt for SPTech forum for people who are customers.
1189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 02, 2014, 08:15:27 AM
Although Spontoolies Tech SP30 didn't meet their specs.
I want to congratulate Guy and his team for archieving this goal.
I have no doubt that they will improve the SP30 in later batches.

Thank you.

<snipped out the BS>

I am not sarcastic.
Have you ever took your miners apart and do some repair work on miners from other manufacturers?
I have.
Most of the competitors deliver unreliable gear and you have to know what you are doing to get it working again.
Spondoolies Tech deliver State of the Art technology
Although I don't have anything ordered yet from Spondoolies Tech, I will order in the near future, because
I know this is the end of the road for 28 nm technology, there won't be much gain in speed and effeciency unless you add more chips and undervolt it.

I praised Spondoolies before and I praised them again.
Thank you for letting me know you are the first to reach the limit of 28nm Sha256 engineering.
I know how to invest further thanks to you.

Depends on BTC price but yes that is fair assessment. They will provide the top end of the 28nm chip for sure and it will out perform pretty much everything else. ROI? Let us see what October and beyond brings. 3rd Gen is going to be the one to look at for DIY teams as well.
1190  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 02, 2014, 08:07:31 AM
Spondoolies can you estimate when the first August units will be shipped / hosted?

Yes and timeline for the August GB etc will be nice.

I assumed 20 something of August for my unit based on the original estimates that RoadStress and SPTech gave when we were ordering.
1191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 02, 2014, 08:03:30 AM
Nice and clean...after 6 (six) deleted posts...

Covering the failure to deliver on specs...

Good job, guys...

"Don't worry...be happy"... Grin

Until next failure...

Good luck and happy mining...

I am out of here...

ZiG

EDIT...:

Bicknellski...deleting posts will NOT help you with your projects...Wish you all the best... Wink

WTF you talking about?

The MODS moved the posts to politics.

Leave me out of your hate filled rants.

Ignored you. You are a fucking dipshit and there is a lot of unnecessary posts in this thread as it is. As a CUSTOMER with an actual ORDER I'd rather hear from SPTech than the you and those who are hell bent on this crap. Don't drag me into your shit start another thread and go whine and cry there.
1192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 02, 2014, 06:19:28 AM
Thank you for letting me know you are the first to reach the limit of 28nm Sha256 engineering.
Thank you again.

RockerBox is certainly not the limit of 28nm SHA256 engineering.
PickAxe our 3rd gen is also 28nm. The fact that we're using exactly the same process means one less production risk for us. We gained a lot from the issue we encountered with the first wafers lots of RockerBox.
I believe that there is still a lot room for improvement.

Yes... the 3rd gen... hmmmm speed less power.... dreams of BTC at 1000$ plus.
1193  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beastlymac - scammed me for 3.1 btc - gridseeds group buy on: August 02, 2014, 05:53:50 AM
I have dealt with Beastlymac in good and bad times and I know him to be honest and fair in all his dealings. This situation has strained the limits of how to handle complaints. First I think the party that is HARMED should be doing the speaking and directly communicating with Beastlymac and you will get a result that will be fair. Having someone speak for a brother or friend etc is not how this should be handled. All I know is I have risked 1000s of dollars with Beastlymac and in each case there has been a satisfactory resolution.

Unlike most scammers he is not lying, not trying to cover up he is trying to work through the problem and get a fair resolution. If you are being antagonistic and throwing misinformation and speaking for someone else when you are not involved then I wonder how you expect a resolution.

Suffice to say Beastlymac is not and never has been a scammer and given the effort he has put in here to resolve the issue with this person who isn't even the claimant I am amazed he remained as calm and focused on the resolution. There are some real bad eggs in bitcointalk Beastlymac is definitely a white hat in this. I think it is clearly a vindication of his moral and ethical compass. Communication via forum to resolve such a dispute is not ideal but inflaming the situation and name calling and threats were unnecessary given what I know of Beastlymac he would have worked on a resolution without the need of the injured party proxy starting a thread like this.

Hello, If someone would like to sell its SP30 groupby due to the latest news, I would be glad to buy it.

Waiting to set all the details with SP-Tech regarding this GB order transfers and compensation. Will post an update when I will have it.

Thanks RoadStress.

1196  Other / Politics & Society / Boycott Israel hardware was Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 01, 2014, 07:43:02 AM
Sorry i am unsure what my views on other vendors uhave to do with this vendor.his is apondoolies thread, i am talking about spondoolies.

I have always boycotted US based manufacturers in this mining game. Drops seeds not bombs...

Start a thread on BOYCOTTs then unless you are going to go into every fabricators thread and call for the same you are being a hypocrite and this is not the topic being discussed here anyhow. You are bringing political discourse into a hardware thread and that is off topic. I can dig up shit on pretty much most nations on their abuse of power and institutional violence towards segments of their own populations as well as outside their borders of control. That is another topic.

----

Edit: Start a topic on boycotting Spondoolies-Tech and I will join you there to debate the ineffectiveness of boycotts in general and what other local measures you should employ to see peace in our lifetime planet wide. Boycotts on Spondoolies Tech will never affect real political change inside Israel and their policies towards Palestine. Nor will it stop the death of more children in Gaza. Peace is a work in progress on a continuum of thousands of years not on weak gestures that have little or no effect. Education is the only weapon that works against institutional violence be it rockets and tunnels or F-16s and missiles.  You were RED TAGGED for tagging SPTech for no other reason than you don't like how they sell their equipment and yet you didn't do that to other fabricators who do pre-sales as well. You were a hypocrite then even more of hypocrite now and you sure seem to enjoy playing games with mining fabricators given your history with suppliers they should boycott you as a customer. Start a thread and let's debate the issues.
1197  Other / Politics & Society / Boycott Israel hardware was Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 01, 2014, 07:36:12 AM
I personally thought saying boycott Israel products and back EU sanctions was on topic? This is a Israel vased company no?

Hypocrisy.

If you are not boycotting US, Chinese or Russian based fabricators as well as those EU nations that sell weapons to Israel. http://www.democracynow.org/2014/7/2/despite_peaceful_reputation_sweden_a_major

I do not support Sweeden or their mining companies.  I dont even like Ikea.....

It is not about SUPPORT. It is about actively engaging in boycotts. Are you boycotting those nations that are engaged in disproportionate violence at the state level? This thread is not about boycotts start your own thread so we can debate the validity of that elsewhere. I would argue that boycotting one supplier in this fashion is hypocritical at best given the overwhelming evidence available about atrocities committed in the name of nationalism by the Chinese, US and Russian governments. Where were your boycotts on Bitmain, Bitfury and US based fabricators and suppliers or services in bitcoin?

Hi Darin ! Obviously I have touched a nerve. How is the Wasp project coming along ? Any closer to shipping something we can buy ?

*hugs*

I am sorry that we cannot do business together. You appear to have a good product that is priced beyond what the market will reasonably pay for.

Thought you stated that already.

I think we get it the first time and the second time. Shall there be a third and a fourth?

---

Ry... sorry was not scrolling back to read through everything been kind of lost since the training program I ran 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the update. Yes the fact that Bitmine.ch was less than forthright about things did make this build a nightmare for you and your team. Given what hiccups they caused then the fact they didn't really explain the deal they had with Innosilicon upfront sure made your initial premise for building these units change as soon as A1 chips flooded the market. Bitmine caused you considerable time and effort or your products would have been on mining a lot sooner than they were.

I hope things go better in the last part of 2014 and into 2015.

What you think you are doing and what you are actually doing have nothing to do with me or hitting nerves or anyone's soft spot or tender regions. I generally could careless what you imagine affects me and my posts. You might want to reflect on the number of times you post the same thing and then determine on whether it is edifying for others. In this case you are plainly grinding gears and making the same point 2x or 3x or 4x doesn't offer anyone solace. We all can easily check that anything over $1 GH/s is too high for ROI now and that is slipping to the high end given the fact that BTC has dropped $100 this month. Pissing on Ntek for sport?

I have purchased things too. I have talked with builders of these miners too. I have met with a number of people that build miners and you know what most of them are not complete assholes and in fact you bought some units off me so you know I am not asshole. Ry and Ntek are not the same douchebags that come on these forums and try and sell crap to an unwary public. They have tried to put out a product that they designed themselves and remarkably they have given a lot even though they were screwed by the chip providers in this case as well as some nefarious engineers that led them astray.

You might want actually talk to Ry in person and get his take on this unit and his company price aside he is good people and so is his company. All I see here is someone that doesn't know Ry being a bit less than polite to a team that has really fought to get something to market and who has tried to make his customers whole. Given the douchebags in this marketplace you might want to spend your observational time on those that continually scam or lie to their customers. Ntek in my view is fighting the good fight and those are the types of companies we want here in Bitcoinland ESPECIALLY when they are US based. Given what I have seen from the US this company is a bright spot for the US given the utter BS we have seen from the US fabs since 2011.
