Introductions
- New Shares on Sale
Is this to be an announcement of new shares available in the wild, or an availability to existing members? Will you be posting any details outside of the TS chat?

All shares always internal to the WPC members only. We have an interest in looking for angel investors possibly but they would have to discuss what level of commitment they have etc and see if the WPC plans for open source are of interest to them. Or possibly those looking to fab their own board then resell. The design we have won't be ready for that until later in the year. The current design we are working on is the prototype for the allied control datatank form factor below using Hammer Spondoolies chips, the other variants are still months away using the Minion or Rockerbox chips which would be viable as a commercial product in the 2-phase cooling market niche or the Hornet, a larger board which is an air cooled variant.

If you want to discuss it a bit more with me then drop me a PM with your email address.

He hasn't posted anything since April yet has logged on less than a week ago.

They probably don't want the hole to get any deeper when they can't control the conversation.

1.  Don't call Josh a hole.

2.  If you want to see Josh in his day job, watch #7 play RF for the Cleveland Indians.

They might be on holidays...

Due to Shavuot ("Feast of Weeks", Pentecost) holiday, shipments will be done on Saturday night, Monday and Thursday.

They can do larger orders and better rates I am pretty sure. Talk to Roadstress in PM he can help you.

Thanks for that. You lot are very helpful!

You are welcome. I hope to be.

I stupidly accepted the free Imperial upgrade (plus 600GHs Monarch at the end of the queue) for my August 17th 65nm conversion order for a 600GHs. So that order is trapped for 6 months from the time of the upgrade.

Step 1) Ask for a refund because they have not shipped the goods they sold you months ago
Step 2) Watch BFL refuse to refund your order
Step 3) File and appear in your local small claims court and explain to the judge that BFL sold you merchandise but never delivered it
Step 4) Judge rules in your favor for two reasons, first BFL did not show up, second the law is on your side
Step 5) Tell BFL you now have a court judgement mandating a refund, would they like to fight it or just give you your money
Step 6) Report back here with BFL's reponse.

1 small problem to your list:

Quote
Who Can Sue And Be Sued?
Any individual, business, partnership, or corporation (with a couple of exceptions) may bring a small claims suit for recovery of money only for an amount up to $5,000.
In general, the claim must be filed in the district court of the county in which the defendant(s) reside.

While the amount varies from state to state, the highlighted portion tends to remain the same.

That quote was from a document describing how residents of the state of Washington bring small claims.
http://www.courts.wa.gov/newsinfo/resources/brochure_scc/smallclaims.doc

From http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/small-claims-book/chapter21-7.html
If, however, the person or business regularly transacts with Internet customers in your state, then you should be able to bring your lawsuit in your local small claims court. In the context of Internet transactions, what does it mean to "regularly do business" in a state? The courts are actively discussing this issue, and different judges have different opinions, but here are some basic guidelines:

Does the website conduct direct sales over the Internet (versus referring customers to offline distributors, retail stores, or other resellers)? (yes)
At the time of the transaction, did the person or business know what state you were a resident of–for example, did you fill out a form with your address or have a package shipped to you? (almost certainly)
Does the person or business do a lot of business with state residents? (for large states, yes)
Does the person or business have any offices or employees in-state, even though its main "location" is on the Internet? (probably no)
Does the person or business send employees or agents into your state to conduct business? (yes to any state that has a convention or BTC meetup)
Does the person or business advertise or solicit business in your state? (yes via adwords)
Does the person or business have a registered agent for service of process in your state?  (probably not)

...

Example 2: James lives in California. He buys new gears for his brand new $3,000 bicycle from a bicycle parts distributor on eBay, Will Wheely. Will, who is based in Nevada, sells almost all his inventory via eBay. The gears are defective, and James crashes, ruining the bicycle. James finds out that Will Wheely bought the gears from Big Gear, Inc., a bicycle parts manufacturer in Florida that does occasional business in California. James later learns that both Will and Big Gear were aware that the gears had a defect. Can James sue either Will Wheely or Big Gear in California small claims court to get compensation for his busted bike?
Yes. James can sue both Will and Big Gear in California. Even though neither potential defendant is a California resident, they each purposefully caused an injury in the state by placing the gears in commerce in California.

Doesn't seem to be all problematic to do. Sad that BFL has sapped the strength out of people to fight back but that is their tactic. Here is hoping that there are enough people to make a stand and do what is necessary to end BFL and EclipseMC. Laughably even their biggest shill is now seeking a refund ça suffit!

1548  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who Are Your Heroes In Business? on: May 31, 2014, 12:03:45 PM
Here is my hero:

Muhammad Yunus

Code:
was born in 28th June, 1940 in the village of Bathua, in Hathazari, Chittagong,
the business centre of what was then Eastern Bengal. He was the third of 14 children
of whom five died in infancy. His father was a successful goldsmith who always
encouraged his sons to seek higher education. But his biggest influence was his
mother, Sufia Khatun, who always helped any poor that knocked on their door.
This inspired him to commit himself to eradication of poverty. His early childhood
years were spent in the village. In 1947, his family moved to the city of Chittagong,
where his father had the jewelery business.

In 1974, Professor Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi economist from Chittagong
University, led his students on a field trip to a poor village. They interviewed a
woman who made bamboo stools, and learnt that she had to borrow the equivalent
of 15p to buy raw bamboo for each stool made. After repaying the middleman,
sometimes at rates as high as 10% a week, she was left with a penny profit margin.
Had she been able to borrow at more advantageous rates, she would have been
able to amass an economic cushion and raise herself above subsistence level.

Realizing that there must be something terribly wrong with the economics he
was teaching, Yunus took matters into his own hands, and from his own pocket
lent the equivalent of ? 17 to 42 basket-weavers. He found that it was possible
with this tiny amount not only to help them survive, but also to create the spark
of personal initiative and enterprise necessary to pull themselves out of poverty.

Against the advice of banks and government, Yunus carried on giving out 'micro-loans',
and in 1983 formed the Grameen Bank, meaning 'village bank' founded on principles
of trust and solidarity. In Bangladesh today, Grameen has 2,564 branches, with
19,800 staff serving 8.29 million borrowers in 81,367 villages. On any working day
Grameen collects an average of $1.5 million in weekly installments. Of the borrowers,
97% are women and over 97% of the loans are paid back, a recovery rate higher
than any other banking system. Grameen methods are applied in projects in
58 countries, including the US, Canada, France, The Netherlands and Norway.

also a note to consider; when buying anything from abroad, make sure you anticipate paying the full customs charges applicable.

and avoid anything that comes out of china  Undecided

Definite good insight in that... as for China? I think the AVOID anything US built is much more in sync with reality.

US to Avoid

BFL always late
Hash Fast late and bankrupt
Cointerra late

Being 3 to avoid in the US. Those three companies in the US have done a lot of damage compared to most of the Chinese offerings like

China Ok

Bitmain on time shipping
ASICminer on time shipping
Clone A1 suppliers usually on time shipping.

In China I would avoid

Black Arrow very late
Avalon too many problems in the past to trust now in my opinion and from my own personal experience

Swiss to Avoid

Bitmine

Again read read and read again the group buy threads and see what the people who actually bought say Bitmain said... the problem with Bitmain is that their S2 units sometimes flop around in transit and boards fall out and get damaged. So be prepared for that. Any other fabricators from China or US or EU etc you need to really read and read about their pitfalls.

That is why I posted Dogie's thread to read that. He monitors fabricators closely and his call is right on most of the time on fabricators.

Learn a lot before investing anything please.

Start small. Read Lots. Good Luck.

and this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=456691.0

And keep asking questions. Find a mentor who has bought equipment and mined before. Given the difficulties now it not as simple as buying hardware there are ample numbers of opportunities and pitfalls beyond BTC mining with other cryptocurrencies. Do not put anything in unless you are ok with losing it all. That is not an idle warning. Many people have lost everything they have put into mining equipment waiting on delivery etc. It is not something you just want to dive into. You have to really find a mentor to guide you through it.
Thanks for the usefull information Smiley
Of course i am not going to put money on something i dont know. I am starting with a very succesful bussiness right now. I have the first hair salloon for kids in Bulgaria and i am accepting BTC ( i know what i am doing), but i want to invest a little in mining just as a hobby .

To get familiar with mining I would suggest starting with a small thumb driver miner or gridseed scrypt miner. Buy one or two of those and learn what is required to keep them mining. From that start exploring in Bulgaria other people who are mining Bitcoin / Cryptocoins and meet with them and learn about their operations. From that then you can look at what is required to purchase more mining power, the electrical costs and space required. As time goes on the main factors are the cost of the electricity and space as well as the efficiency of the miners themselves.

I do not know anyone I could say is a good mentor from Bulgaria but maybe other people here can... that be the easiest way to get into mining as you can learn a lot from others who have made all the mistakes before. Go slow at first until you understand the difficulty of mining. Most reasonable people will say there is little or nothing in mining that is "profitable" and there are certainly more ways to lose your investment than to grow your investment. I wish you luck and keep coming back and asking questions.

Have a look here at this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600368.0

He has 3 million dollars to invest supposedly... and this is what the community recommends.

If you are hobby miner then it is simple.

1. Get some small easy to operate miners for fun. Gridseed or some V3 open source thumb miners are decent.
2. Then move up to a single large miner like a Spondoolies Tech SP15 or SP30 or Bitmain S2s are ok I think as they are faily low priced.

That should be enough at that point to see if you want to bigger and get really invested or look at your losses and sell those units off and you won't have spent more than a few thousand USD on the whole thing.

1554  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Board Designs for BlackArrow's Minion Chips on: May 31, 2014, 09:15:59 AM
It seems to me this picture is version of Bitmine's open source 2 chip board for A1.
FW abd SW part was made by Zefir i think.
But may be I'm wrong, i did not look at it closely .
I tought this tread is about Minion
Wink

You are wrong, very wrong on all aspects about the WPC, and that board which is an A1 Wasp prototype and has nothing to do with Zefir or Bitmine. Go ask Zefir yourself on that and check the boards they are completely different configurations. Oh my are you really telling me you can't tell the difference?

This thread is about the Minion, nor is about you not paying people BTC you owe them from a group buy in 2013, and I was answering dropt direct question about the WPC Minion boards

Weren't you guys working on a universal system for all chips?  Didn't the WPC receive a variety of chips from a variety of manufacturers?  What happened to all of those and the cards WPC was working on to support them?  Are you going to follow through on the Hammer ASIC, or are you guys going to scrap that entirely as soon as another one comes along like you have for everything else?

and the development timeline, which you know nothing about so keep talking about your stuff and I will keep posting about our stuff.

The movie of the A1 Wasp blinking... shows the power is on and all the gremlins are worked out powerwise and clearly demonstrates a HUGE difference between the bitmine offering and our design. Completely different boards. How did you miss that? Really? I think you said that on purpose to give people the impression we are working off others designs. Why would you do that Marto?

vs.

March 21st, 2014 Email from the EE on the A1 Wasp.

1. 3.3V regulator working
2. JTAG interface to UC3C working
3. processor is initializing
4. ASF now working (took moving to Studio 6.2, since all UC3C was broken in 6.1)
5. 12MHz oscillator is working
6. can do one LED - all 3 colors are working

From this we will move to the Minion but not right now. I wish everyone luck on the Black Arrow stuff. I just hope they can get you a backplane so you don't spend 4 or 5 more weeks to get something from a 3rd party.

Our Hammer / Minion / Rockerbox / Pickaxe form factor for the Whiteface that goes into Novec 2 phase test system DataTank at Allied Control will look like this:

When we have that up in a Minion we will let you know but that is likely going to be in later 2014 unless you have a team of people that wants to share development from where we are now but even then we are looking at least few months end of summer.

Juan,

I picked up my UPS package today excited like a baby (as this was my 1st Rig), well it turned 180 degree so fast in a hurry. Sad Sad

1. All 10 cards were off and rattling around inside.
2. Capacitors fallen off the cards and missing
3. cables not connected
4. Solid capacitors missing of the main board
5. Bent FAN pins
6. Bent slots on the main board
7. Riser which holds the cards in place completely bent out of shape.

I have no clue how someone puts a QC passed sticker in the front of the box when clearly there was no QC done in my opinion.

After reseating all cards, cleaning up the mess I was able to turn on the unit.(after 3-4 attempts), the unit has 4 red lights on the main board, hashing at 400hGH/s - 575Gh/s, when I remember that this unit hashes at 1.4 Th/s .

I am really disappointed and look forward to how we are going to resolve this issue.

Posting some pictures for proof.

I remember you telling on this forum that you have spare parts in stock and would ship if needed. Looks like I would definitely need those spare parts.

Thanks

Sameer

I don't think your anger at the QC department is justified.  There's no way it left the manufacturer in that condition.  That is damage caused by the carrier.

I'm actually impressed that it works at all after seeing those pictures.

Let us please put this in perspective.

This is happening way too frequently. Meaning they HAVE TO FIX the packaging. It is the people boxing it up for shipment that need to get some cardboard to help hold the cards in place. This is a well known and repeated problem. You buy at your own risk from these guys because of this issue.
1559  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group buy] Avalon chips Escrow John K / Please check refund list until Sunday on: May 30, 2014, 07:21:30 AM
If you owe there is no window the rule of thumb is PAY the person if you owe them. See what Zefir does in the same situation is that he pays people back. What did I do? I paid people back. What did you do? You lied and didn't pay people back.

The only thing that happens after you play this silly game of ignore the people you rip off is you get more and more and more attention drawn to yourself as you dig a deeper hole eventually you ruin your good name and people stop buying your products.

My Goal.

Yes if he wants to keep picking fights with people who he owes money to he deserves to be run out of business.

Didn't a few people post in the SP30 GB that they anticipated up to 6.5THs on the SP30 with
good cold air intake and fine tune overclocking??

Zvisha?

Yes it was posted as potentially 6.5.

Was 5.4 now 6.0. Think that is good enough given the competition. And they haven't put chips to boards yet let us see what the Wizards do then they start testing them. August is still a few ticks away.
