Why the fucking shit did they cut the number of VRMs in half?  Why is half of my PCB assembly unpopulated?

Graned this thing runs cool as shit, like, not above 50C anywhere cool, but that only tells me the clock limit is due to the (lack) of VRMs and/or lack of decoupling capacitance.

What the fuck is going on here?

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

i think i am a lucky one , i put .95 on and i got 550ghs

glad for you, seems some miners come out ok.   My other one is still running .93 and avg 520Gh

Looks like I will now be a thorn in KNC's customer service over this.  I was content on tweaking my problem miner and getting it to run on .93 while cooling and 770 watts but with Bitcoinarama's incessent promotion of .95 for miners stuck with 4 VRM boards I made the switch to give relief to my psu...

He boasted and boasted that everyone is a fool to run pre .95 and cool their miner.   No matter that I was stable at 520 Gh for well over 24 hours.. nah.. fool he says.

sorry I will push this against KNC until they send me another miner over this.  I really have nothing better to do but bother them now

If I have corsair HX850 PSUs for my miners should I immidietly change them or should I wait for official info?

in a post a bit back from this thread (look for it sorry can't seem to find it)

there was a method to wait for a bit then unplug psu from miner ..then run psu alone w/o miner then shut it down and re plug in after

don't quote me but a few pages back in this thread

myself i'd send it back if you could

hope my seasonic 860 is ok and not the same mnfg or some such

Searing

What? I ran an HX850 for days on my Jupiter and nothing exploded although out of habit I wait till fans stop which is 10sec to turn back on. Have since swapped the HX for a TX I had already.

Edit: Guess I should add that my miner on HX drew 555wats on peak start, I have 8 vrm per module. Don't know if it was just the people who run 900watt that are vulnerable or what with the HX850.

Now imagine having no access to your miner, no return emails and having to wait until 4:30am to call their customer service to talk to someone that can't help you.  All the while mining ~400Gh (an admitted improvement over 150 from the last 2 days)...

I'm sure they will eventually make things right with me, but it will be too late.  After all, I've now been mining for 3 days for grand total of .8 BTC (yes that was a period before the Cool.

I really just want to talk to someone that has physical access to my miner and can troubleshoot it. In my opinion, people that paid an extra $2200 for hosting shouldn't be worse off than those that had them shipped.

and on a side note I gather if you do manage or need to send your psu back (again I have seasonic so prob safe) prob a person should jump it up from 860w seasonic or whatever to say a 1000 or more to be safe at this point in time (if you have to send you stuff back) would that be prudent?

Searing

Are you talking about the platinum seasonic? I have a corsair ax860 which is the same thing, but I did not get my miner yet. I am not really worried about this PSU, though. I would be concerned with the seasonic x-850 gold, but not the seasonic platinum ss-860. Our PSUs are made better with protection features or something.

check someone's post

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg3322663;topicseen#msg3322663p

thanks ok i'll just keep the seasonic 860 80plus platinum for the Jupiter and I have a 660w seasonic 80plus platinum for the Saturn

whew..i was like 1 click away from getting the corsairs....(better to be dumb and lucky I guess)

There's a very good chance the 8 VRM boards will be able to overclock / boost performance FAR beyond the 4 VRM boards.

These are not thermally limited as-is on 0.95.  If they are limited, they're limited by VRM current or perhaps decoupling capacitance or other

Prepare for further shitstorms, anyone with a 4 VRM board will be like a cripple trying to keep up against Usain bolt

Oh and those VRM modules have the board level connections as BGA-style underneath the PCB.  So you're not adding any components yourself!  So go fuck yourself, everyone who doesn't have a reflow oven

just asking so don't take my head off ..I know zip

but have you upgraded to .95 and if so does your cooling seem to improve on that as well (can't hurt imho)

anyway curious

Searing

the one miner that was roasting and I cooled it and ran .93 to get it stable at 520Gh was running 770watts on a 850psu

so.... I put .95 on it and it lowered everything.  300 less watts, 490Gh and 10 less degrees C on all boards...

but, soon it dropped to 470Gh so I switched back to .93 and had crap luck since.

I've done a lot of experimenting on this miner the past few hours and it is very odd to see that sometimes one module will be stuck turning off and turning on 12-24 cores and then sometimes another module will do it and the other wont... but atleast one does.  It is only the back right and front right that take turns doing this.  I put more cooling on those both (propped it right against an window a/c unit) and no luck with .95 or .94

worse is that going back to .93 will get the dreaded FPGA lock up loops now... so it seems I can't run the one firmware that was able to deal with whatever wack-a-core issue that is with this miner.

so I am back to .95 and it has dropped down to ~400Gh stable which is a joke.   KNC lives in a fantasy world where they just attack one issue and think they cured cancer each time.

I'll probably try to get .93 running again, it might just be luck of the roll with restarts

300 less watts...Huh??  holy crap!

If they don't ship in the next week, it makes sense to cancel your order. That is, assuming bitfury and hashfast are going to be shipping in the next week. They both are cheaper and match the performance of KNC so I see no reason in holding on to your KNC order. That is what I plan on doing, at least. I'm not angry at all. It's just the way that mining has to work these days. The downside of accepting customers for pre-orders is that they may cancel (and contest their credit card charges) at any moment if you miss your deadline. With BFL and Avalon the risk has been born 100% on the consumers. It's about time that mining companies step up and absorb some of the risk themselves. So far there has not been one company that has shipped on time. I'm not saying that KNC has failed, but they have 3 days to ship roughly 1,000 miners to keep their promise to their customers. If there is no guarantee, if there is no downside for a mining company if they break their promises, what is to stop them from just promising anything?

1) There are no more refunds.
2) Hash fast are nowhere near shipping in a week.  They won't have their chips for ~ 3 more weeks and the first device won't be made for 5 days after they start packaging.  Realistically, they will be tweaking the first miners the first week of November with a mid November first shipment. (2 weeks late)

Although the temps are signifigantly lower .095 slowed the speeds down by about 15-25 gh/s

So far so good for me with .95

Its stable for 1 hour now, 500ghz on the spot

Room temps are 22 degrees day and night.

Temps of asic slots are all arround 50 now.

I used to have 2 that where going up to 83 degrees.

I removed the casing yesterday and those two went down to 65 and now 50
Ill put the casing back on after the weekend

Hosting customer here. Yeah same. After they applied 0.95. It's been stable 500GH/s for almost 12 hours now (speed from Eligius).

Prior to that was... anywhere from 220GH/s to 270GH/s (max). So it's definitely a big improvement.

Yeah, seems like the biggest gains were in Jupiters that had com problems they mentioned. I don't mind a few gh/s for stability & efficiency, but I sure enjoyed watching my Saturn at over 300gh/s half the time better...hehe  Tongue

How do you figure ~ 3 weeks? and 2 weeks late?
