happiness is always a choice, because your perspective is also your choice. if you feel like nothing is ever enough, and you are money hungry, then you are probably not happy. if you feel that you don't need to live an opulent lifestyle, and just need the bare necessities, then you're happier.. because you don't demand the results from life to always be positive.

I do not agree, we cannot be happy if one of our loved ones dies. It is not always a choice

i know plenty people who have lose the people they hold near and dear, and they are still happy. what i am saying is that there are the circumstances, and then there is the way you process those circumstances. if you are cynical and think bad things, then that is the kind of experience you are creating.

why are rich people still so miserable? and why does it seem like the most happy people you know are not wealthy? because the way they look at life.
1942  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran hangs billionaire over bank fraud on: May 25, 2014, 09:40:45 PM
Apparently it's more than that, I think there treason involved in this, because there is no law being it Islamic or civil unless I missed something that give capital punishment for theft he would would have his hand cut.

I don't agree with capital punishment and I don't want this guy to be killed no matter what deed he've done, he should get 25 years of prison or even more, but if the guy is really guilty it is nice to see that some billionaires does get punishment and not getting away with it

as previously mentioned, this guy could have been singled out to take the fall.. which is fucked up, because in order for that kind of fraud to occur, multiple people have had to cooperate.. and those exact people get off scott free, also while ratting one guy out.
1943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Willy Report...What do you guys make of it? on: May 25, 2014, 09:35:55 PM
i don't think it has surprised anyone that the market was manipulated, especially considering the small market cap. you wouldn't even need that much $$$ to make big splashes, and someone is always willing to cross that line to make money.

i think murphy's law is very applicable to bitcoin's adoption. seems to me that bitcoin is both a good and bad thing.. and it just is what it is.

Let's see how we can make something so beautiful, then fuck it up, akin to sex being a beautiful things, but let's see if can fuck children in their asses to achieve the same jollies.

this is an issue that goes beyond bitcoin.. it has more to do with how every fucking thing in this world works. try to manipulate and squeeze every penny out, nevermind the aftermath of the destruction. the older i get, the more pessimistic and cynical i become.
1944  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Proof of massive fraudulent trading activity and how it has affected the price on: May 25, 2014, 09:32:58 PM
do you guys think if bitcoin reaches a very high market cap.. that it would still be heavily manipulated? i'd think so.. by then a lot of major players will enter the game and they will collude to swing hard.

interesting thing to me is that people with higher IQ tend to be more cynical/depressed. if you're so absolutely smart, then why do you choose to make yourself miserable?

Happiness is not always a choice, IQ helps you only so far in life - sometimes it can be a burden. Especially, if you feel like the people around you do not understand you.

Boardwalk Empire started off promising but I got a little bored of it now.

it's still one of my favorites, but the quality has dropped slightly.. i think it's mainly because they killed one of the most dynamic characters (jimmy). the only character left that people feel for also died this season.

it's still a great show, but they killed off two of the most likable characters. the only one left that i like is van alden.
1948  Economy / Speculation / Re: i just bought another bitcoin on: May 25, 2014, 08:53:08 PM
i haven't bought any in over a year.. bitcoin's too volatile for my blood. i guess i'm just conservative like that. i'm well aware that whatever amount i have, there's a good chance it will be worth nothing.

So, Jesus is an alien?

The idea that Jesus was an ET in human form has been around for decades (Yes... it's a pre-internet theory)
One detail I remember being told is that he healed seriously sick people by "laying his hands on them", when actually ET Jesus could have had a small high tech device to inject medicine into the patient.

I've never seen convincing proof, but it is an interesting idea.
Do you actually believe his mother Mary was a virgin?

there's a conspiracy theory for everything though. humans will believe anything and everything they want. i don't think i can get fazed by what people think anymore.

Alright. Thanks for telling me. Wink
That's sad but there are lots of competitors anyway!
I agree, but I am guessing that more competitors will turn up eventually. And they still have to compete against other, so that will help us as well.

PD is still increasing their rates at the end of the current period and changing to weekly pay out.

He didn't say anything definite about weekly payouts but that he was considering it. Weekly pays will require a hell of a lot of extra work unless he's going to start automating payouts.

yes, but it will protect him if BTC price rises exponentially.

or it could have the opposite effect.. if bitcoin makes a huge jump, then he'd have to pay less. it balances out.. but it's more stable to go with the 1 week payouts.
1951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible drawback on using Crypto currencies? on: May 25, 2014, 08:01:16 PM
what's the drawback of cryptos again? i don't really understand the point of this thread.

The fact that it's risky. If it does not get as big as we think it could be, the possibility is real that we'll lost money on them.
Of course, the risk is well worth it.

if people are investing in bitcoin thinking it's a surefire thing, then i think they deserve to lose their money. it's already obvious to most people that btc is risky and volatile.
1952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All aboard! Who have you convinced to step on the BTC Train? on: May 25, 2014, 06:58:00 PM
i have only converted one person, but he bought a miner and is getting his coins. he bought the miner when btc was worth $800 though, so it looks like he's down so far.
1953  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Proof of massive fraudulent trading activity and how it has affected the price on: May 25, 2014, 06:56:23 PM
i honestly think bitcon's biggest detriment is the immoral/unethical people who use it.. moreso than government. it can be used for both bad and good, just like the USD... but in a lot of ways, it's more convenient for thieves. if you steal cash from someone, it's not quite the same as bitcoin since you don't even need to reveal yourself. same goes with ransoming someone for money.
1954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Families Boycotting Overstock Due to Them Accepting Bitcoin on: May 25, 2014, 06:53:41 PM
I dont understand the significance behind the bitcoin foundation.  as an avid user of bitcoins, should I?  I Have never felt compelled to learn.

it's basically there to help its members get whatever the fuck they want, while publicly claiming that they were just there to serve bitcoin.. they are the politicians of cryptocurrency, except they are even less necessary.

wow, time to brace ourselves for the roller coaster ride  Shocked seems kinda unusual to see such a huge jump on a sunday.

that's what i said about obama. you don't know how they'll be until they are in office.

it would be cool if there were some rich billionaire who died and decided to donate all of his money to starting a 3rd party...

The Americans are stuck with the two-party system, and I don't foresee any chance of changing it, at least for the next few decades. The Libertarian Party is stuck at around 2% support nation-wide, while the Greens get even less nationally.

well the issue is that it's so pronounced that america, more than any other country, has tied money with politics. it's ridiculous how much money is spent on the campaign trails. in order for a 3 party system to work, the point of singularity needs to hit.. but they'd need billions of dollars "invested."

Although Rand Paul has some of the right kinds of instincts on some issues, he strikes me as someone who doesn't see things coming and doesn't really know what to do about things after they happen.  He seems kind of insulated and isolated in an Aspergers-ish sort of way.  After on of his aids tried to head-stomp some woman and Paul's reaction to it (or lack thereof) I feel that he just does not really have the kind of attention span or awareness or spine to be much of a leader.  I'm concerned that he would be immediately surrounded by fairly nasty people and would not have the capability of recognizing it or controlling them.  Just the opposite most likely.

I am not saying that Rand Paul is the ideal candidate for the POTUS. I would love to see someone like Jesse Ventura elected to the office. But we have to be realistic. Right now, Rand Paul is the lesser one among the evils.
