I sense a strong intensity of this community against Butterfly labs. I'm not quite sure why I'm I'm thinking about purchasing a low end mining rig from them what can I expect? and how long will it take for it to arrive?

Gotta say I'm impressed. It's been over a month since I first ordered one of these and then cancelled the order and with the ASICminer news that's out with 1TH at $1800 I'm saddened to see the Walmart effect take place here. It had to happen though, AM was the first ASIC mining rig available and they had a pretty great head start. Anyways I hope that you guys all end up
getting your stuff going! I just bought a 30 day hosted free 180gh Ant for 1 btc that I bought for $600 so I'm happy until the next best thing comes. Plus I'm hashing from day one. I would have only caused an issue here had I went through with this miner as I cannot stand waiting past deadlines. Cheers!
How is something you bought for $600 free? Also, I do not think you ever actually made any purchase with us. You may have placed an order but you did not actually pay for it. Because I bought a bitcoin at $15 which I have already made back in the first day of hashing. Also I did not actually buy it youre right. I won an auction on ebay with a 14 day promise of delivery back on January 7th and almost got strung along on this ride. I am glad I called bullshit and cancelled before the miner is not worth its weight. The next gen 28nm 950 watt 1 th are shipping on 3-14-14 for $5000 from a proven source. I hope you get these going but man ole man I wish you woulda got them done somewhere in line with the original dates because the poor guys that are being strung along still at $8500 are not going to be happy when 1 PH of new miners get delivered before they even see a satoshi from mining on the cherry piee 1Th miner. Sorry bud but this race is fast and it has to be NOW. That is exactly why I cancelled because I knew it wasnt going to be 14 days...which is like 6 months in the bitcoin world. I bought cheap Avalon Gen2 cloned ASIC chips in the past and those miners run very inconsistently. Bitmain and their Ants are definitely what all vendors should be aspiring to; good price performance and 100% legal. It goes to show that not all Chinese companies are the same and that one should be vigilant against companies like JT, JianTian, Dragon, etc who have no qualms with using stolen technology in their products.
Frankly I don't see any reason why anyone would want to purchase anything based on the A1 as currently it simply isn't a competitive option.
Lesson learned. Don't use Innosilicon ever. |

1.We have approved the 2nd review of the Minion substrate and it has been taped out. Chip packaging is on schedule.

Like the agenda  I have another idea that might be interesting for you. What about having Wasp ASIC store? Since in most cases you need to buy a lot of ASIC to get them or get close to good price. I'm ready to run it with minimal mangers for EU or whole world if that would need to be the case... Something we can also talk about if this is something you think your collective needs. We definitely want people open their own Wasp ASIC stores, that is fine and we are willing to support anyone interested in fabrication, as this project is not a one off and will be a long term prospect for anyone looking to retail or wholesale Wasps & Hives and potentially other accessories as we move forward. Note we are not fabricating Wasps or Hives directly as the WPC. The exception is for our own prototypes and proof of concept using A1s and BitFuryII chips currently. And future plans for the Minion and Asicminer chips due out next. At our last meeting we did discuss how our products could be marketed to those still looking to do the DIY kits and home mining particularly altcoins can as this is a modular system and massive mining operations looking for more control over their farms with the ability to tune each chip via the software along with the ability to upgrade / maintain Wasps without taking whole Hives offline. |

Lucko I did discuss with EE team about the board itself and it might be possible, should testing prove it out, that a standard board could be used, although overclocking an A1 Wasp might be less likely or desirable. Testing on this will take place once we have a fully populated board by this week hopefully. See you at the meeting Saturday.

Which first gen machine are you running? I was thinking the same thing, underclock it and see how much the power usage drops. Although it's probably more profitable to just sell it off on eBay or Craigslist.
BFL Singles and nitro jalapenos. They might be second generation, I don't know. But nice little boxes no doubt. The real fun would be to replace the chips with a Monarch chip. Yes I am thinking about this... :-) C When 2015? |

I will say at least they gave the customers a bunch of options for compensation. I have a hosting client that has a large order of these and he wasn't happy but was happy they gave him options. 5 week delay is major in ASIC-land.
How are you going to handle putting more than one card in a case if they require water cooling? Curious, not trying to troll. They are controlled by USB and don't need to be installed in a computer case. Apparently BFL are designing a stand that they can be mounted upon. How can you put enough of these units in stands or cases or racks to make it worth your while to mine and cool them. If you are not building something like the allied controlled / asicminer solution you are simply not playing to win. Crappy and seriously inefficient after market cooling water blocks are not going to keep pace with the density of the system in the videos. KnC got their 28nm rigs out last year, now they are finalizing 20nm rigs...
BFL are now a dead duck in the race, I will never order from them again as they have proven themselves to be unreliable and now well behind in technology. Unless there is a massive rise in the value of BTC these customers will not be acheiving ROI with these rigs. |
