just asking so don't take my head off ..I know zip

but have you upgraded to .95 and if so does your cooling seem to improve on that as well (can't hurt imho)

anyway curious

Searing

the one miner that was roasting and I cooled it and ran .93 to get it stable at 520Gh was running 770watts on a 850psu

so.... I put .95 on it and it lowered everything.  300 less watts, 490Gh and 10 less degrees C on all boards...

but, soon it dropped to 470Gh so I switched back to .93 and had crap luck since.

I've done a lot of experimenting on this miner the past few hours and it is very odd to see that sometimes one module will be stuck turning off and turning on 12-24 cores and then sometimes another module will do it and the other wont... but atleast one does.  It is only the back right and front right that take turns doing this.  I put more cooling on those both (propped it right against an window a/c unit) and no luck with .95 or .94

worse is that going back to .93 will get the dreaded FPGA lock up loops now... so it seems I can't run the one firmware that was able to deal with whatever wack-a-core issue that is with this miner.

so I am back to .95 and it has dropped down to ~400Gh stable which is a joke.   KNC lives in a fantasy world where they just attack one issue and think they cured cancer each time.

I'll probably try to get .93 running again, it might just be luck of the roll with restarts

300 less watts...Huh??  holy crap!

If they don't ship in the next week, it makes sense to cancel your order. That is, assuming bitfury and hashfast are going to be shipping in the next week. They both are cheaper and match the performance of KNC so I see no reason in holding on to your KNC order. That is what I plan on doing, at least. I'm not angry at all. It's just the way that mining has to work these days. The downside of accepting customers for pre-orders is that they may cancel (and contest their credit card charges) at any moment if you miss your deadline. With BFL and Avalon the risk has been born 100% on the consumers. It's about time that mining companies step up and absorb some of the risk themselves. So far there has not been one company that has shipped on time. I'm not saying that KNC has failed, but they have 3 days to ship roughly 1,000 miners to keep their promise to their customers. If there is no guarantee, if there is no downside for a mining company if they break their promises, what is to stop them from just promising anything?

Hosting customer here. Yeah same. After they applied 0.95. It's been stable 500GH/s for almost 12 hours now (speed from Eligius).

Prior to that was... anywhere from 220GH/s to 270GH/s (max). So it's definitely a big improvement.

Yeah, seems like the biggest gains were in Jupiters that had com problems they mentioned. I don't mind a few gh/s for stability & efficiency, but I sure enjoyed watching my Saturn at over 300gh/s half the time better...hehe  Tongue

Might be unrelated to 0.95 but after upgrading I have a wrong time on cgminer's start time:

cgminer version 3.4.0 - Started: [2000-01-05 09:05:03]

Of course this mixes up average performance and WU per minute.
The Unix time was correct when I checked (date). I think the timing between NTP (Internet time
synchronisation) and startup of cgminer did bring up this minor problem.
Please note: It will not have an effect on your miner performance. It's just a cosmetic issue what
might bring up wrong statistics!
I "d/z" zeroed out the statistics within cgminer to fix this.

BTW: I would be sooo rich if the startup time would be correct  Cheesy

Will work for BTC and DEM (eMark)   No joke!   Network, WiFi, IPv6

You would probably own 50-70%+ of all coins and nobody would end up using bitcoins because it would basically be, trepex coins. Tongue

Now imagine having no access to your miner, no return emails and having to wait until 4:30am to call their customer service to talk to someone that can't help you.  All the while mining ~400Gh (an admitted improvement over 150 from the last 2 days)...

I'm sure they will eventually make things right with me, but it will be too late.  After all, I've now been mining for 3 days for grand total of .8 BTC (yes that was a period before the Cool.

I really just want to talk to someone that has physical access to my miner and can troubleshoot it. In my opinion, people that paid an extra $2200 for hosting shouldn't be worse off than those that had them shipped.

Yes, I am in the same boat as you are, got 100 GH/s for days, finally reached 400 yesterday but by no means am I getting close to 550.
Plus I mined on their pools for a full day and a half and I haven't seen any coins and since they don't have stats (WFT!) who knows what that pool is doing.

I am emailing support every day, I am getting an answer every 2 days but the answer is always useless although polite.

I am hoping that hosted people like us, will have another round of compensation...

Quick report after ~8 hours of hashing: all is running fine, low temps and very low error rate.

I must say that now my Jupiter is running as expected.

Got my stuff in today.  One of my Jupiters was working for about an hour then shut itself down.  It refuses to power itself back on.  It will briefly attempt to turn on for about 3 seconds and then it shuts down again.  I thought maybe it was the PSU so I swapped it with another but that isn't the issue.

PSU's = OCZ ZX 1250

The other two run fine.

what does it look on the inside?

Some troubleshooting steps I've taken.  Nothing is consistent but I might be on the right track.  All the cases are off.

Attempt #1
~ Unplugging the ethernet cable allows it to boot up from a hard shut down, oddly enough.  After a few minutes then I plug it back in.  It mined for about 15 minutes and then shut itself down again.

Attempt #2
~ To answer your question about looks, the heat sinks inside lean back and are not level like the others.  Noticed one is sorta loose.  The other 3, while leaning back, are tight to their boards.  Unplugged the PCI-E from the loose one.  Turned it back on.  A red light is on the front instead of green but the other three boards are mining and have been for about 30 minutes.  Will update...

---------------------------------

Side note...the PSU connected to this particular machine that is having problems is very warm.  The other two machines aren't warm like this one.  Will test how warm it is in a while if things are still mining with only 3 of the 4 cards without shutting down.

Side note #2...One of other machines that have been running all night just fine, one of its case fans are running at a very low RPM and not emitting any cool air.  Maybe KnC can send me a replacement?

---------------------------------

UPS is throwing these things around rough.  Boxes were damaged.  No packing peanuts/balls of any kind still.  Just the piece of packing foam on each end.

Please try attaching a harddrive to the PSU to put some load on the 5V/3.3V rail.

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

PSU's = OCZ ZX 1250

Will that take some heat off the PSU to cool it down some?
