I'm of the opinion that btcguild pays out more because their collective hashrate is so high.  Better luck solving blocks.  Normally it all evens out but during these times of crazy rising difficulty you have to be with those that solves blocks the fastest.

Having said that I haven't compared 50btc or elgius.  I used to use Bitminter all the time until the difficulty went crazy.  I don't like 17 hour long blocks.  Mining on Bitminter feels like a lottery right now.

funny, i was on bitminter too prior to diff. craze, and went to btcguild for same reasons....hmmm....maybe i am not as dumb as i look....
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

next difficulty 230 (4days to go) estimate 260 (70 mill jump)
Saturn @ 260 Gh/s = .5024 coins per day

Best scenario I can see is 21 coins back (maybe a couple more in the months after) which leaves me with a probable loss of $1500
Saturn was $4800 incl VAT +shipping.

Anyone who is still waiting is worse off of course unless bitcoin price goes crazy

Edit: 2 Ph network hashrate now - 100% growth in 22 days  Cry

thanks fragout, you just pissed in my knc pool party....and i am of course WAITING for my IN PROGRESS SINCE MONDAY Saturn....

hear that KNC?Huh

Will that take some heat off the PSU to cool it down some?

Find out. Many (though mostly older) PSU's need a minimum load on the 5v or they dont regulate properly. This can cause severe issues, like high fluctuations on the 12V.
Just connect a cdrom drive, light bulb, hdd or whatever to put a minimum load on the 5V and see if it makes a difference. If it doesnt help, its not going to hurt either.

Steady the 3.3v Rail

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JUMP-START-EPS-ATX-24-PIN-POWER-SUPPLY-WITHOUT-A-MOTHERBOARD-MADE-IN-USA-/251029042274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a727f3462

what do you all think is this iittle add a 3.3v load device on  the power on your knc miner power supply really gonna help any?

or is it smoke/mirrors..?

need to get one anyway if this seems better then making my own ...what the heck I can spring 9 bucks for 2 of them

(alas I know zip about this just trying to cover my butt in that they sent me 11k of stuff with no SWITCHES.....jeez...I must be outta my frigging mind btc/asic endeavors!)

Searing

It won't do anything.

A little about how a power supply works.   It has to rectify AC power into DC power and it also has to step down the voltage to a level used by computers.  Namely that is 12V, 5V & 3.3V.

At one time power supplies did rectification and step down to all three voltages

So if you will excuse my horrible ASCII art

120/240VAC --------[AC to 12VDC conversion] ----->  12VDC out
                           |
                           |--[AC to 5VDC conversion] ------>  5VDC out
                           |
                           |--[AC to 3.3VDC conversion] ---> 3.3VDC out

This worked fine when load on all three rails was relatively balanced but efficiency is generally low and when the rails are out of balance efficiency suffers even more.

Two things occurs in roughly that last decade.  The first is that 3.3VDC and 5VDC isn't really used for any significant load.  At one time they were used to directly power CPU, memory, motherboard logic, etc.  However the operating voltage of modern components (including ASICS) is <1 VDC.  The power requirement for a motherboard also increased significantly.   A high end CPU, memory, and motherboard can pull 200W+.  On multi-CPU servers with large banks of memory this can be 500W or more.  500W @ 5VDC = 100A.  You would need a cable the size that connects to your car battery to handle that safely.    So motherboards contain their own DC to DC regulators.   The powersupply pumps in 12VDC the motherboard converts it to whatever it needs.

The second was the "80Plus" program and it became a big marketing campaign.   People began buying more efficient PSU and it became increasingly hard to design a PSU that
could deliver massive current on the 12V rail, operate with minimal or no load on 3.3V, and still remain very efficient.

Today almost all high end (500W+) PSU use a concept call direct DC conversion.   Since the majority of the load is on the 12V rail ALL the power is converted to 12VDC.  Then the small 3.3V and 5V loads are converted off the 12V rail.

120/240VAC ----->  [AC to 12VDC conversion] ------->  12VDC out
                                   |
                                   |-----[12VDC to 5VDC conversion] -------> 5VDC out
                                   |
                                   | ----[12VDC to 3.3VDC conversion] ------> 3.3VDC out

putting an extra load on 3.3VDC rail does nothing.  Absolutely nothing.

I love this guy!

Look, 1 day, 21 hours to deliver the final 1000 units. Let's not forget it took them 11 days of production to produce the first 700.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309391.0

No way they are going to make it. The question is will it be 1 or 2 more weeks after the 15th to clear all units?

How far can their "over-promise and under-deliver" stretch out? How worthless can they make the last few units off their production line? How close will they ship to the November orders, that people paid $2000 less for?

Will they even bother to update their waiting customers with a new delivery schedule? Or will they continue to totally ignore their customers, bury their heads in the sand and squeeze out 60 or 70 units a day for the next 20 days?

Lots of questions, but because it's KNC, no fucking answers.

I have pretty much made up my mind.  If i do not get shipping information on my order this week.  They will have two options,  ether offer some sort of compensation for delivering late, Or refund me if they do not, I will be contacting PayPal.  And if they do not let me refund.  then i will go straight to my credit cards.  Witch as Amex and discover.    And wont take no for a answer on a refund.    Witch I'm going to almost guarantee ill have to go this route unless they pull off a miracle .   Since my order was not placed until July 3rd.  So they got some ways to go to get to my order.   And i have already let KNC know this is my plans of last week.  Of course i have not received an e-mail back.  "First time they have never responded"   But shortly after my e-mail my order did go in to progress.  Along with everyone else.  Witch is another reason why i think this is a stall technique.

I think I will ask for a refund too if they don't ship by next Thursday. I could use the money to invest in another company, like Hashfast.

It hasn't reached the stage that buying BTC with the money is better?  ...like ROI immediately.

Come on KNC, turn my August Mercury into "In Progress" - 2 days left to meet your deadline Smiley

Edit: I'm going to be rather annoyed if they don't ship my Mercury until November, I could have bought a bigger unit for roughly the same price, some compensation is going to be wanted if that's the case. But I still have 2 days worth of faith.

Any normal company would be working shifts now, at least weekends. To save their good name.
They may think otherwise, but getting a unit running on Sept 30th and then missing the much more important deadline of Oct 15th is a massive fail.
Even the rigs delivered to date have mostly not been hashing as they should.

They told us that they had 30 assembly stations, and each unit took 6 minuted to assemble. I'd go for 20 minutes and still they should have been able to complete 12 hrs x 3 per hr x 30 a day. That's over 1000. Even if they only began properly yesterday they could have them all done by end of weekend. My bet is that there won't be 30 assemblers working and probably not at all over weekend.

If they told the truth we'll all have rigs in progress at least by Monday.

Is HashFast expected to release 2PH for batch 1, 2PH for batch 2, and 2PH for batch 3?  CoinTerra will add another 2PH from their batch 1.  When are the dates for all of these?  This isn't looking pretty at all.

1) There are no more refunds.

Not necessarily:

Refunds are offered up to the day of shipment of your order.

I thought people have called on this already...ie the oct 2013 RUN was locked down on no refunds...the nov RUN you likely could still get a refund on

others on here let me know if this is correct (I get my info from forums perhaps YOU CAN still get refunds on OCT orders..but I think not.
