There is something wrong with the default GUIminer engine (poclbm) for some reason.

Seems to have started in the last day or so, although I'm not sure what's so special about today that would cause it to change...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=62590.0 has other people having problems with guiminer on other pools as well

Oh, so it's guiminer's fault, not slush. What the hell?

And what the heck is my computer doing if it's not submitting shares anyhow? It's obviously still working...

I don't really know python, but after having a look through the source code and following it through to the point at which the error occurs it seems to be a problem with submitting a found result... But it does appear to keep looking even though it doesn't seem able to send them. Which is why the computers still seem to be busy.

I don't have an idea why GUI miner is failing, but the bug appear also on other pools and I didn't modified pool core in last few days. I think it is something strange in gui miner...

I got some user reports about this too.
At my end it looks just like poclbm suddenly stops submitting any shares.

Very sad to hear, poclbm was the best miner ever...

I was even suspecting some http-related library was automatically updated by Windows.
Or some updated antivirus software...

One of my systems that isn't working with guiminer doesn't have anti-virus or any windows updating stuff on it.

If I get the time I'll have a play with it tomorrow and see if I can work out what's broken in it... It must be something that happens at initialization because I have one machine here that's still happily running with guiminer using poclbm that's been going for over a week (and is still submitting shares as I type this)

-poclbm breaks after stopping and restarting miners.
-Problem occurs on all pools
- miners that were not restarted are working fine so far

Hmmm, I thought it was caused by Windows Update, but Ubuntu?

One out of my 3 Win7 has the error.

Is the pool server a Windows server?

The failure of GUIminer has forced me to switch to CGminer. That works fine, it's just ugly.

Same mistake with some miners over here. No updates were installed. What else has changed these past few days that could have an effect on guiminer? Some machines I will not be able to check up on for 2 weeks. So, if the problem continues, my hashrate will go down and stay down. Damn. And thank you for your tips considering solo mining. But 7 months is quite a long time sample I would say. Can't say that it was in the beginning only. In fact, I didn't find any blocks for the first 4 months. I will watch closely for the next few months, but my guess is I will have found considerably more blocks than being paid for.

GUIMiner v2011-07-01

GUIMiner wasn't working for me on win7 64. I switched back to v2011-07-01 and now it is. But my hash rate has dropped from ~440 down to ~422, so I hope someone finds a fix for the latest version of GUIMiner.

After the DDoS attack there was a 16 hour round. I've seen some other long ones during normal unlucky days.
