It's just such a pain in the ass to learn a new dictionary of commandlines
is thier a lovely noobfriendly guide? Or is it simple enough to figure out with the info provided on the front page

cgminer's command line was way easier for me to pickup than some of the other miners I tried.  You can also build the config completely inside the miner and not worry about flags. I highly recommend using a config over starting cgminer with a ton of flags.

Not necessarily implying your code is at fault, but a data point:  here, no seg fault with 2.0.8, seg fault with 2.1.0, no driver change.  Catalyst 11.6, Ubuntu 11.04.

Can you, in whatever command line window, set "ulimit -c unlimited", then execute a new instance of cgminer and quit that at once (it should print something like "segmentation violation: core dumped"). You can do that without stopping any other running cgminer instances you may have.
There should then be a file called "core" in whatever directory you're in.
After this, execute "gdb path/to/cgminer core" and in gdb first execute "bt" and then "bt full", and post the results here?

My suspicion is/was that cgminer now triggers some bug in the AMD opencl driver which it didn't before, but if it is only a catalyst problem, it should occur for ckolivas, too (assuming he still uses 11.6).

Start command prompt (Run -> cmd) and then type or paste in (right-click -> paste, Ctrl + V doesn't work) the filepath for cgminer.exe, then add all the tags (-o (for pool address and port), -u (for worker name), -p (worker password)). It shouldn't close even if something goes wrong, so you'll see what message it gives you.

Regarding the Q bug - it wasn't present on my system in version 2.0.8.

His miner isn't working at the moment so he can't get ANY OpenCL to run or crash.
I succeeded in getting it to crash today and yep it was in the ATI driver when it crashed - after all the shutdown code had completed also.

My last 6h 21m 45s (only 724.63MHs) of hashing = 3786 Shares Accepted, 1 Rejected
That's an all time low score record for me! (0.0264%)
I also have the option "--submit-stale" enabled so that makes that number truly amazing IMO.

I am experiencing the crash on Fedora 15 as well, and the only thing changed is the cgminer version.  I agree that it wouldn't matter if it always happened after the shutdown code completed, however, it happened before the shutdown code completed the second time I experienced it, so I couldn't see how many shares I had submitted.

During the above period, web browsing from another system on the LAN seemed normally snappy.  Last night, I couldn't find any evidence that Eclipse was down, but I added BitMinter as a backup.  That (based on above) indicates it's not a pool problem.

I (Q)uit cgminer, but that didn't yield me a console prompt.  Ctrl-C was merely echoed as ^C with no other effect.  So I rebooted and now all seems normal.

I get similar behavior when I load balance.  I also saw this with 2.0.8 when load balancing.

But pressing Q always worked for me, as well as it works in Windoze that is.

Anyone else had this problem with CGminer? I'd really like to use it, But it just keeps going Black

1) Be sure to open a command prompt window (don't try to launch from explorer) to see any error messages.
2) Try setting pool, username, password from the command line.  (example included in first post).
