1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 27, 2023, 11:57:30 PM
Do you think that government should have a rule or a law for election candidates not to have a franchise in any form of gambling, in fact, there are a lot of politicians who are operators of illegal small-town lotteries this is to accumulate funds they can use for election campaigns.

I do think that the country must have specific laws prohibiting the engagement of any running candidate in gambling.

E-sabong has been an issue in the country as many people have illegally operated this business without any license from the government. In addition, a politician must lead an example to the public by showing that they do not flaunt any of their richness. Since Teves admitted that he engaged in such activity before the country prohibited it, then I guess he is safe from such act.

Remember that ex post facto laws cannot be implemented to make him liable for the acts he had done in the past in which no law prohibited it.
1082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 27, 2023, 11:47:33 PM
This is one of many horror stories about gambling addiction, some are more worst.
Can’t imagine myself being addict, as much as possible control yourself not to get addict and understand that gambling is not good. If you know someone who are addicted in gambling and needs a professional help already, force them to consult because there’s still a way to get out of that addiction, they just need a help.

Being addicted to something comes in many forms- it can be anything like food, activity, or an act on itself. Being addicted is always almost dangerous for the reason that it can potentially hinder your judgement as focus is towards on the act itself.

Gambling addiction is one of those cases where once you get addicted, it can lead to a downfall of a person both financially and mentally. We have witnessed several stories about people who suffered gambling addiction and we have the duty to at least be reminded to not follow their example.

At the end of the day, gambling addiction must be cured by seeking help from your family and peers. Once you acknowledge that you indeed suffer from it, it is about time for you to venture into different activities in order to keep yourself busy.
1083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: April 27, 2023, 05:43:20 PM
Another draw, the third in a row (unexpected for this match, isn't it?) and Nepomniachtchi's chances are getting higher with each game. There are 3 games left (although two games for Nepomniachtchi will be played as black) and in order to become a champion it is enough for Nepomniachtchi to score 1.5 points in these games. I think that Din will have to take risks and in one of the games when he plays white we will see sharp positions that will be risky for white as well.

Yesterday Nepomniachtchi pissed me off so much that I didn't even have a comment. Having a won position, he was able to lose the game! Fucked up. It's good that today he drew - in fact, it would be quite logical if he lost again. He is often emotionally unstable and after one defeat can easily lose a second time. Hope he doesn't lose tomorrow. If this happens, we will see a tie-break.

Nepo indeed blundered in that final move where he pushed his pawn. He sacrificed three (3) pawns already and he worsen his position further with that move. The evaluation bar was swinging back and forth from Ding and Nepo's favour and it showed that they blitzed their moves on the final 20-30 minutes of the game.

It was definitely heartbreaking to see Nepo crumble when he made his last move. When he realized that he blundered, he spent the last 20 minutes thinking on how to proceed with the press conference especially when he deals with some weird questions asked by the reporters.
1084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: April 26, 2023, 11:02:00 PM
~snip~

The guy you told us about was too naive and arrogant, which is why his gambling experience was so bitter. The winnings clouded his mind and he showed you his true face. Do not do business with him, for such people cannot be loyal for long. If you want to help him, advise him to see a specialist and quit gambling for a while.
Exactly, its not easy to be partnered with a greedy person and even if you know that guy you can’t still trust him that much. There might be a good winnings to attract someone but you also need to remember that this is gambling, anything can happen and losing is inevitable. Better to gamble on your own, and if you want to help that guy out of that addiction, you still need a help from a professional.

Not just any greedy person but it is definitely a red flag if a person gambles too much to the point of losing their whole purpose and goal in mind.

I mean, I do understand that gambling is not an illegal activity per se, but if it clouds your judgement to the point that you prioritize it above anything else, then it should at least give you an idea about its potential danger. Personally speaking, I dealt with someone who frequently gambles in our family and let me tell you- they will always ask for loans, etc. to the point that they try to reason everything for the sake of having cash to gamble.

I just hope that this kind of thread creates a wake-up call to everyone who struggles limiting their gambling activity. Sure, gambling is fun especially when you experience that adrenaline but be careful not to exceed your limits.

1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will never own a whole Bitcoin and that's okay on: April 23, 2023, 11:57:32 PM
It's certainly true that most of us have missed the early days of bitcoin when it was still cheap because we ignore that opportunity. But then, as time passes by, we have understood that bitcoin's potential is endless and even if you're saying that you'll never own a single bitcoin but owning around 0.2BTC. You may quite that far from reaching half and its whole, don't doubt yourself. We just need to DCA until we reach that goal of having 1 bitcoin. And through accumulation in any means that you can, you're just enjoying the journey and no pressure at all. Even it might take a year or two or more, just be consistent on it and we're all gonna be there.

This is true- I also regret the time I failed to invest and purchase BTC when its price was barely noticeable. But this is the reason on why we invested in the first place- what if the price of 1 BTC today is considerably cheaper than it will be 5-10 years from now? Better invest now and HODL it for long-term. Do not lose hope as in this kind of venture, anything is possible as the sky is the limit in reaching prices.

Just think of this situation, in a few years from now, anything is possible. Just keep on investing even if it is a relatively small amount and focus on long-term HODLing.
1087  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SIM Registration: Anong Dapat Ipag-alala? on: April 23, 2023, 11:47:02 PM

I think regardless kung panakot or hindi, it is still a notice na kailangan na din talaga mag register sa SIM card. Again like what I also previously mentioned, wala naman siguro mawawala if we follow the mandate.

1088  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you sell because of situations? on: April 23, 2023, 11:38:44 PM
This story is pathetic, the man who introduce me to bitcoin, his kid sis was knapped 2 weeks now and the kidnappers are asking for a huge ransom of  N10 Million Nigeria currency but the whole thing looks like a plan work from some people close to him because many people know him to be crypto dealer. Now this money is never available anywhere, the man's only option is to sell his bitcoin and even if he does is not up to the amount. Do you advise he sells and bail his kid sister?  Everybody is confuse.

If it involves the safety of any of my family, I would do anything for a heartbeat. I would not think twice if it was a set-up as my first priority is to know that their presence is safe and secured. Thinking other things rather than their safety is the least of my concern and I would do every step just to see them alive.

Many things happens this days, putting you on a test! At what situations did you think you can sell your bitcoin and forget about bitcoin like it has never exist in your life. Knowing well the situation you're into many must have passed it and scale through without selling. What then will make you to sell even if the price is against you?

There is a reason on why my funds are on standby for emergency situations. In the event that I needed money to pay for any emergency medical bills that my fiat could not pay, I would definitely use my BTCs as alternative for cash in a heartbeat. What is the use of such BTCs if I could not use them for actual emergencies?
1089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keep hodling your Bitcoin on: April 23, 2023, 07:41:37 PM
What you should note is that you can't control everyone feelings and emotions towards their asset or investment. There are people who may endure seeing their investment losing 20 to 40 percent without fear but there are some people who may not endure seeing such in there investment and may decides to sell and secure their investment without knowing they are feeding the market.

At the end of the day, it is all relative- in which everything depends on the investment goal per person.

For example, a person who invests $1,000 may consider such investment as relatively small, while for others investing $1,000 is their peak for the moment. But the end goal remains the same- everyone wants to experience profit and receive huge returns in a given time.

Personally, I would categorize and divide my investments into two (2) parts: one for short; and one for long-term investment. If my short-term investment profited, I will use 70% of the profits as a reinvestment again for short-term usage and the remaining 30% for long-term HODLing.
1090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Thought On Gambling Strategies on: April 23, 2023, 07:20:52 PM
I think people don't understand that there is no strategy in gambling. Gamble but consider your spendings on it as an entertainment expense. Got luck on your side and won? Good. If you don't you still had fun.

Strategies can be applied in some certain games of gambling which does not entirely depend on luck.

Games such as slots who are completely dependent of luck do not kind any strategy at all since you just spin and pray that the results be favourable. But in some card games like poker, there are some certain strategies that you can employ in order to at least increase the chances of you winning in a given set.

For example, in poker, you can either bluff or employ some techniques in order to give you the advantage at the board. While it may not give you a guaranteed and absolute result, it at leasts increase the chances of you winning from time-to-time.
1091  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading is perfect work for jobless peoples on: April 22, 2023, 11:52:22 PM
In life there are many peoples wants freedom and this is available in day training and not any restrictions that whenever and wherever you want to doing work
If we thing about that are in enjoying with your family there you are also allow to work as well and also enjoy
Also freedom from your Boss.

I somehow disagree wih this statement.

Trading is highly recommended to someone who has prior experience in this kind of platform. Without any experience, a newbie/beginner would most likely experience loss due to the nature of trading which requires some technical skill.

If a person is jobless, then the best course of action is to look for a job that regularly pays and a portion of that income be allocated to his investments. Going in blindly in trading is like suicide to your resources.
1092  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sometimes a good explanation is all it takes. on: April 22, 2023, 11:17:39 PM
FTX issue brought skepticism to cryptocurrency aside from those who doubted it before, Some people who are into crypto  or just started will likely be skeptical about it now. But we all know there would be a bounce back and when that happens, People will trust cryptocurrency more.
For sure the Fxt problem caused shock wave and skepticism more for folk that were already being doubtful cryptocurrency to add to the skepticism, the whole year of 2022 was a totally bad year for crypto and it replicated badly and throughout of the year 2022 young and new investors were also been skeptical about the drastic fall of bitcoin to as low as 16k which spoked a lot of people that are coming into the crypto space.

This skepticism is what hinders new people from coming in the cryptocurrency world. Most of the time, social media and news mislead these people into thinking that cryptocurrencies are somewhat of a scam, which can be quite destructive for its image in the long-run.

Unfortunately, the only way to counter misinformation is by explaining it to them about the fundamentals and opportunity of BTC. Personally, I have seen more negative reviews and comments about cryptocurrencies than positive ones. In the eyes of a beginner, this kind of experience makes it difficult for them to trust and believe what they are investing on.

I just hope that there is some way to remedy this solution. Though this may be the case, I strongly believe that one good explanation is all it takes and this forum is the perfect platform to remove any doubt/skepticism about anyone who is planning to join this opportunity.
1093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 22, 2023, 11:01:49 PM
Although within this community Bitcoin is practically the only currency in which everyone believes, just look around a bit and we will find thousands of people who think otherwise.
At this point I wonder, what reasons should we give these people to make them realise that Bitcoin is a right choice? The first argument that comes to mind to convince a person who is sceptical about Bitcoin, is first of all that with Bitcoin you no longer need to delegate the custody of your money to a third party (banks, mutual funds, etc.): you are the master and you hold them. What else would you add?

The rule of thumb when you want to increase the awareness of BTC is by explaining the fundamentals behind it. Let me point it out- you should never convince or force anyone to invest in BTC especially if they know little-to-nothing about it.

When you convince or force someone, you are basically telling them to invest into something without them even understanding what they are delving in the first place.

The best way is for you to explain your idea on why investing is a good idea on BTC and you let them decide for themselves whether to invest or not. In this method, you are actually letting them think for themselves rather than spoon-feeding them with ideas.
1094  Local / Pamilihan / Re: PHLWIN Fraud/Scam nga ba? on: April 22, 2023, 10:39:10 PM

Kaya once they advertise a product, generally, sumusunod mga tao sa kanila at nagiging curious.

These advertisers should be held responsible in the event na legit na scam itong philwin. They should be responsible enough and to know yung mga bagay na inaadvertise nila sa kanilang channel. In the event na napatunayan na sobrang rigged ang rates dito sa platform ng philwin, then they should be at least held accountable dito sa ginagawa nila.

Lahat tayo may freedom and right to do anything but ang limitations nito is that we must do it accordingly within the bounds of law and morals. Kahit mukhang tama ginagawa nila, if they injured someone in the process, mananagot sila dito.
1095  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: April 22, 2023, 10:21:01 PM
As suggested only thing that can be done is through reducing the stake, because we can't be sure of the outcome. With the mentioned odd losing the bet is really unbelievable, but things happen for our bad luck. Maybe this bet loss could be a big learning for more other users who have the mentality to go for high stakes on low odds.
it's quite simple that all types of bets in gambling still depend on luck even though sports betting is famous for the greater luck that you get from analyzing one of the teams, but there will always be surprises in every match. so there's no need to be too greedy for betting large amounts at small odd.
and some people here must think that the guy bet 1.4 million dollars just because of greed.

Again, there is nothing absolute in gambling. Even if the odds are relatively low and you may consider it as a safe bet, no one is still safe in this kind of venture.

Personally, a person who gambles with 1.01 odds is just unlucky- he should have at least divided his bets and wagered a relatively small amount of money in the process. To reiterate, there is nothing absolute in gambling even if the odds are seemingly with you. You may think that this is a safe and guaranteed bet but this just explains on why gambling can be both brutal and rewarding at the same time.

Yes it is possible to avoid risk if one knows well about gambling before starting gambling. Many people get greedy and lose everything because they don't risk money you have to start the game with small bets first. If you start with big bad you are more likely to lose in the first round it will disappoint you. So start playing with small amount of bets first and choose a good quality casino platform which is very reliable.

I do think it is more on understanding on what you are betting your money on. Sure, 1.01 odds may seem like a safe bet that can give you a win 80-90% of the time but that hidden 1% may still cost you the game. Yup, the guy was very unlucky but he should know that this kind of outcome is definitely possible in this kind of activity.
1096  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: April 22, 2023, 10:04:51 PM
In my opinion.

Everything you do, activity and other think on the casino are gambling. You're not gambling now, but there has some chance you are gonna to gambling soon in the future. The temptation are high, If you are stay on gambling sector.

So, I call it gambling. It's promotion, you get free money soon you're losing then are gonna triggered you to deposit.

I agree with this- sometimes, gambling is not all about money. As long as there is a risk involved and you invested other than money, then it may be considered as "gambling" within this kind of definition.

Generally when we think about gambling, what comes into our mind is the wagering of money/resources in a casino, whether physical or online. But what most fail to realize that when you also decide to engage into something, you also gamble/wager your time in devoting something. It may not be considered as "gambling" in the traditional sense but it is considered as such within its definition.
1097  Economy / Economics / Re: Money hardly come this days! Why? on: April 21, 2023, 11:57:04 PM
The situation we are in right now is something that we should always ask ourselves what is really going on at first I thought I am the only person observing the error that is going on in our society today at first the youth were said to be lazy and even when you are interested in working there will be no job to apply then I will ask how will the money flow freely as expected or how will money come when there is not even a job to attach to
It will be very bad if things seems to be like this in the next coming years because the people will be confused of the kind of nation we are living in

It's not about the country we live in. The point is that there is now a constant reduction in earning opportunities (either because of the use of cheaper labor, or because of the acceleration of progress, which actually allows us to replace humans in many fields of activity, and because quite a few professions are disappearing). The solution to this problem is to colonize other planets, but humanity is not yet ready for this.

I do think that a country where you live in plays a huge factor in this aspect.

A person who lives in a first-world country may have opportunities and advantages available to the society. Compared to some third-world countries, you are basically lucky if you find yourself having a job even if it is far from your college degree.

For example, a person living in Japan can have the privilege of choosing any kind of job or their passion and they could at least make a living with it. In the Philippines, choosing any kind of job can get you nowhere as the bills are too expensive for the job to handle.
1098  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and Gambling on: April 21, 2023, 11:31:11 PM
Bitcoin is a currency while gambling is an activity, that's make both of them are completely different.

There's no relation because Bitcoin is Bitcoin and gambling is gambling, if you talking about what you can afford to lose and having knowledge, this include of anything of investment e.g. gold, real estate, stock, business, etc.

I don't see any fun and entertainment during or after invest in Bitcoin.

I agree with you- BTC and gambling are both two different worlds where they are entirely different from each other.

As the name suggests, gambling is an activity where you use a set of currencies depending on the mode of payment that is available. Generally, gambling can be very risky as there is no absolute result- you either win or lose big depending on the amount you wager.

On the other hand, BTC is considered as an alternative currency where many use it as an investment mechanism. While its price may be volatile, some use this as an opportunity to invest it either for short or long-term depending on their respective goals.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is $30 dollars worth starting bitcoin? on: April 21, 2023, 10:57:54 PM
...
What do you think about my advised to him?

Basically, any value is applicable when starting an investment in BTC. Due to its price volatility, its price may either skyrocket or drop depending on several factors both intrinsically and extrinsically. Though some investors prefer to HODL their BTCs in order to maximize the potential gain at the end.

If a person is starting with $30 worth of BTC investment, I do recommend investing it for short-term and cashing it out as soon as the price increases and he is able to recover his initial investment. From there, he can re-invest the amount and take advantage of its price for more gains in the future.
1100  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Gcash/Paymaya (Help & Concerns) on: April 21, 2023, 10:31:20 PM
Lately kasi ay may nakita ako sa FB reel na iminomungkahi nya na alisin yong laman ng pera natin sa Gcash kung meron man before April 26, 2023 dahil may chance daw na mawala to dahil sa mga glitches na mangyayari pagdating sa deadline ng registration of sim cards.

Though this may sound like a safety reminder to everyone or a must to do lalo na kung malaki-laki yong pera mo sa Gcash pero tanong ko pa rin lang dito kung ano thoughts nya sa babala nya.

As long as your SIM is registered, then you have nothing to fear. If ever na you fear for the amount of your funds inside your GCash account, then better take a screenshot as a way of security in the event na magkaroon ng bugs/glitches when the SIM registration date ends.

Honestly, I do doubt na mangyayare ito but expect some accounts to be disabled or yung privileges nila bababa if hindi naka register yung SIM mo. Pero as a way of security, screenshot mo na yung account mo with your funds para meron kang proof/evidence of your funds in the event na may mangyari dito.
