901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Important Points to Learn from Your Worst Sports Betting Losses! on: June 25, 2023, 05:42:05 PM
IMHO, even if we'll list as much as important factors for learning through our worst bets and losses is that we will still forget most of them. And with the lessons that we may learn from those, eventually they'll have no place in our minds when we're currently or actively gambling.

Because it gets into our minds that the most important thing is to win. And we only do realize these factors and lessons when we've lost and we've got nothing left.

The latter part of having nothing after we gamble is pushing us to the point that there must be something wrong and we do recognize that at the end. It's true that all of those points should be remembered but situation changes and we often forget it when our emotions are being mixed.

Like what I also mentioned to similar posts like these, experience will still be the best teacher. Even if a person reads tons of guides and information about a certain act, he/she will not fully grasp the whole situation until they experience it.

Just like in gambling, the best way to learn from one's experience is to personally experience the win/loss of your resources. Until you realized personally that you are guilty of your actions, that is when a person is more convinced that he/she will at least attempt to stop gambling.

Though this may be the case, I still appreciate people for compiling several lists about their techniques in order to avoid getting addicted. Obviously, they are the ones who have already walked this road and they are imparting the lessons that they have learned along the way to warn curious people about it.
902  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why do you still want to play fake web2 casinos? Why we choose web3 casinos on: June 25, 2023, 04:42:45 PM
Since we are blessed enough to have the opportunity to use either the web2 or web3 casino gambling, we cannot arrived at the conclusion that one is fake over the other because they both serve different aspects under same purpose for better gambling experience for it users, there's no doubt that many of them have already upgraded to the web 3 technology because they realizes that it's what people want more these current dispensation.

I doubt that the majority of the casino upgraded to web3 technology as in the real web which casino use smart contracts for a decentralized betting. Most of web3 application done by the casinos are just the application of web3 wallets to login on the casino but the rest of the experience is still web2 since they still offer same centralized game coming from 3rd party provider.

Web2 casino is still the best in terms of user experience because most of the providers is using wbe2 to have a better game design that is not limited to blockchain.
Let there be fun and people won't care where or which web the game is running on, I could decide to get rid of my PC for a PlayStation 5 to enjoy the games that are only available for PlayStation because they are more fun, if web 2.0 casino games are addictive enough, what else more do gamblers need? Will web 3 erase losses when gambling? Will web 3 introduce a way that gamblers can reduce losses? Who cares about all these? If I can gamble on a casino that gives me what I want I won't care if it's Web 1.2.3, it doesn't matter to me, the fun and experience is all I yearn for.
Yes web 2 or 3 no matter gambling requires high skill and prediction ability. But one thing should always be kept in mind that gambling should always be taken as fun and gambling should be done with a cool head. web 3 casino never guarantees profit to any gambler so why can anyone call web2 casino a scam? None can be called risk free because gambling is not gambling without financial risk.

Prior to replying on this post, I have no clue about the difference between a web 2 vs a web 3 casino. Upon doing some searches, I stumbled upon this definition provided by Google, which is as follows:

The main difference between Web 2.0 and Web3
Whereas Web 2.0 is based on centralisation and control of a few institutions, Web3 promises a virtual landscape based on decentralisation and peer-to-peer transactions, mainly facilitated through the integration of blockchain technology.
1

This is very interesting- it implies that web 2 casinos have ownership over the game assets; whereas web 3 casinos, it is centralized and players have ownership over the game assets. I agree, players should definitely avoid web 2 casinos even if they may provide higher bonuses and rewards. The fact that the players have no ownership means that the game operators have full control and disposal over its assets.

903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do gambling addicts bother about the consequences of their actions? on: June 24, 2023, 11:57:52 PM
Most of the gambling addicts were middle class people. This isn't known to the outer world, just because we belong to the same category we will be able to predict the reality happening around. Rich won't get addicted to gambling easily, because rich never think of the winning. When one thinks about win and making money, automatically it leads to gambling addiction. With the middle class category they somehow control within them, at very rare instances we'll be able to see those people disturbing the people around them.

I somehow disagree with your post.

Regardless of the status of a person, whether be rich, middle class, or poor, everyone is prone to gambling addiction due to its nature.

I also disagree with your statement that the rich will not be addicted to gambling. With almost endless capital at their disposal, they can certainly be addicted to gambling by betting almost everyday. With this kind of money, they are prone to gamble at least almost everyday to feel that adrenaline in a game. Sure, some might not focus on winning money but they get addicted with the feeling of adrenaline on their games.

Though this may be the case, if a person thinks about the satisfaction of gambling and not about the profits, they are less likely to get addicted to the act. Some gambling addicts are aware of the consequences of their actions but they still let their addiction cloud their judgement just to satisfy themselves with it.
904  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 24, 2023, 11:48:11 PM
This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.

Receiving a merit is a proof of your hard work- you see that people appreciate and acknowledged that you indeed contributed to the forum. It also gives you the feeling of confidence where your efforts are validated due to your contribution. I agree- receiving merits is one of those feelings of satisfaction and hunger where you want to contribute and create more threads for people to appreciate.

I applaud your purpose in this forum- you create posts in order to contribute to the betterment of this forum. While others are too busy to rank-up as they create spam threads, your focus and goal is toward creating a healthy environment for everyone to learn and accept.

Keep up the good work, OP. While you may be only scratching the surface, you are definitely doing it right and going on the right direction.
905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 11:37:31 PM
That's just an estimation.
Till now, 795767 blocks have been mined. This means that there are 44233 blocks until the next halving. Assuming these blocks will be mined at the rate of 1 per 10 minutes on average, the halving will be 442330 minutes or 307 days later.
This is exactly the time displayed on blockchair.com. Other websites may use different methods for predicting the halving date and that's why you may see different dats. For example, buybitcoinworldwide predicts halving to be 296 days later.

This is the answer- everything is based on estimation which is completely dependent on the mined blocks under the blockchain. If suddenly, people would not transact with BTC and miners would not confirm any transactions, the date of estimation on the halving would thus increase.

Though this may be the case, I seriously think that the coming halving will significantly impact the price of BTC in the market. By basing it purely on history, almost all halving increased the price of BTC, which makes this the perfect opportunity to HODL and/or invest for either short or long-term.
906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between futures trading and gambling on: June 24, 2023, 11:25:43 PM
would you prefer to gamble in a casino and make some money or learn about futures trading and make some money?

Which one do you actually find to be more easier and I believe that futures trading is also capable of giving someone life-changing money but which one do you believe is less risky than the other?

Interesting question- both trading and gambling are risky ventures on itself but they provide a possibility of getting significant high amounts of profit.

To answer your question, I would divide my answers into two (2), which are as follows:

Short-term: Gambling; and
Long-term:: Trading.

If you are chasing for profit, it is almost impossible to profit in gambling due to its nature. Sure, every now and then a person may experience a profitable day in gambling but the results cannot be consistent as you are dealing with odds.

In trading, while it may be risky, experience teaches you a long-way. The more you trade, the more knowledge and experience you gain from the process which makes a person expert in this field. There are lots of possibilities to lower the chances of a person failing on a trade as there are also devices for emergency purposes.
907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: June 24, 2023, 11:12:58 PM
The moment that I saw this post on Reddit, I knew that there will be a bet being posted here in this forum.

If this fight were to continue, I would definitely vote for Mark Zuckerberg to win. Again, this dude is a robot- he is designed to destroy any opponent without any sheer of emotions and empathy. As far as I know, Mark is a gold medalist in MMA where he also trained self-defense techniques with experts. If he is going to fight Elon, which is an obese fatty, he would definitely win. Not to mention, Mark is ten (10) years younger which puts him in a great advantage with speed and stamina.

I just really hope that this fight materializes in the future, though I really doubt that it would continue.
908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Casinos Go Bankrupt Because of Player Wins? on: June 23, 2023, 11:11:43 PM
Is it possible for a casino to go bankrupt because a player gets a very big win?

I think maybe that's hard to happen if we look at casinos that are already big and well known. But suppose there is a new casino, and there are some players who are very good at playing, so they can win continuously, can the casino go bankrupt? or do they already have an algorithm or a way so players can't keep winning?

Yes this is very possible and this kind of scenario typically happens in new established casinos.

I remember that there was a thread created where it provided a list of people who were intentionally kicked out of casinos for winning too much. Though these casinos did not go bankrupt, the fact that they recognized the winning spree of a person implies that their loss beginning to dominate over their profit. This explains on why some casinos ban other players for winning too much other than the reason of bad attitude, etc.

909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: June 23, 2023, 10:55:22 PM
Covid-19 pandemic fueled the rate of online gambling because most person were with their smartphone locked down idle at home. There was no way people will stay idle without having fun, this made so many people went into online gambling the more and after they saw the easy accessibility and company it gives, they never want to stop. The rate of which people gamble is increasing annually, so this information isn't a surprise to me. Smartphone has contributed a lot to the increase of online gambling because it is more convenient and can be accessible anywhere and  anytime, without showing concern of the person you are with. Gambling is part of the world daily activities and more people are getting involved in it everyday by day with the help of online casinos

I agree with your statement.

With the pandemic happening, it not only proved that jobs can be accessed in an online environment but also services. It pivoted and shifted the focus in an online and satellite scale where almost all businesses are attempting to create services available. The pandemic proved that online gambling is more convenient than visiting a physical casino, which poses more risk and problems with the gambler.

Though this may be the case, visiting a physical casino is still not obsolete despite the resurgence of online gambling. In fact, lots of physical casinos have been developing more and more games and improvements to their services in order to compete with this kind of platform.
910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top 40 Twitch accounts for gambling advertising on: June 23, 2023, 10:10:24 AM
After successfully earn two merits by creating this thread , now you want to create a similar thread in order to earn merit, correct? Roll Eyes

Well, I think we have to give him some props when he compiled this list. This is not only informative but it also provides data on how much viewership and traction gambling advertisements affect streaming websites. Instead of questioning his decision of creating another list, we should give him some credit for it.

Quote
Twitch has a rule to prohibit their streamers to stream gambling, I don't see any reason why anyone should know the top streamers who're stream gambling. Twitch isn't supporting them, so everyone who support those streamers are definitely don't care about terms of service, maybe this is why most people always complaint about KYC when they want to withdraw.

I think it is essential to know which streamers host gambling advertisements. There are lots of twitch streamers who conceal their true purpose and at the end, they tend to focus on gambling advertisements more. Though this is not an issue to many, there are still who are genuinely concerned by it.
911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you start your posting life as a newbie??? only for full mem, Sr and leg on: June 23, 2023, 09:55:59 AM
I think this post has been ringing in my head for a long time ago, so I said to myself to let it out, please on behalf of all the newbies we like you to recommend to us how you did the magic on your post count and also merit court and how to do things on the forum and also on how you  share your time table for the forum, I believe that all  the guidance may be of benefit to us as a newbie I know we still have a long way to go and also I believe that this forum is about United on together so please do well to help us
Note this
This topic is not for a newbie or jr member but asking questions is allowed

When I joined this forum last 2017, my first focus was to familiarize myself with all the internal rules and regulations in order to prevent any mistake from happening. I frequently asked our local boards for guidance and support and I also did my research about the forum.

When the merit system was implemented, this actually pushed me to further contribute to the forum. Despite my efforts, I realized that creating discussions and replying with an extensively-written reply did not equate to me earning merits. So, I shifted my focus to reporting scammers and hackers across the forum.

The beauty of doing this act is that you receive the best of both worlds- not only do you help cleanse the forum and warn users about hack/scam projects under the ANN board; but you also receive merits due to your hard work.

Again, let this not cloud your goal of contribution. When you actually think of contributing, merits become secondary to your purpose.
912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is legalized, a dream of mine would come true on: June 22, 2023, 11:43:42 PM
As a Bangladeshi I have a dream cherished inside my heart, but in reality it is not possible to realize my dream. My house is located near a popular bridge in Bangladesh and on both sides of the bridge there are parks and sightseeing spots for travelers. My father has organized a food hotel next to that sightseeing spot. I sometimes spend some time in that hotel between studies. I've been nursing a dream for as long as I've been on Bitcoin forums. If Bitcoin was legalized in Bangladesh, I would take a payment system through Bitcoin with a pizza restaurant.
But my dreams will remain dreams because Bitcoin will never be legalized by the government in my country.

Well for starters, I think you can fulfill this dream by earning enough cryptocurrency and convert it via p2p exchanges to your local currency. In this way, you indirectly used your BTC as a payment to the transaction of purchasing your pizza. Though I am not sure if what you want is to directly transact, this kind of way is the most plausible and convenient way given the current state of BTC.

Personally, my dream is to use my heard-earned BTC all the way to retirement. I hope that its price skyrockets and it will catapult my earnings to retirement plans as it would enable me to purchase my very first house and car in the process.
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who is to be blamed, the gambler or the betting agent on: June 22, 2023, 10:32:35 PM
By making installment adjustments in my opinion, how much is his ability in one installment and asking him to do it until it is paid off, if the player still cannot pay his debt then it is the fault of the betting agent because he is greedy enough to let his customer gamble more than the financial capacity that the customer has, it becomes the thing that can be when a person becomes greedy because it will benefit him so when the reality is the opposite then that is a risk he has to accept because it also leads someone to gamble more than their means.

When it comes to a complaint for a recovery for a sum of money, if the person cannot fulfill his obligation on time which is stipulated by the judge, then the sheriff can proceed against the personal or real property of the debtor in this case. If the person who gambled cannot fulfill his obligation of paying all of the sums required, then the judge may order for any of his properties to be sold in favor of the creditor-agent in this case.

At the end of the day, it depends on the ruling of the judge on how he would perceive the case depending on the stipulated facts. But the fact remains that the debtor has a debt that incurred during his gambling sprees.

No matter how high or low his monetary income is, he has the obligation of paying his obligation on the stipulated date and failure of such would make his personal/real properties liable for the debt.
914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: June 22, 2023, 10:16:26 PM
As a morally upright person that does not like to cheat people, but gambles and has lost a lot of money to gambling in a casino where you have sometimes been cheated even without your knowledge or betting on sports, will you take an opportunity you get and go against your moral standards to cheat a casino or sportsbetting place, just so you can win big at least even once.

Will you try a trick to win on casino game machines if you were told and it is a 100% working trick to cash out? Will you bet on fixed games if you get the tip early?

Nope- this is something that I see impossible for me to do no matter how the system neglects or cheats me. Remember that when the system fails a person, cheating or continue failing for them is not the answer. When this kind of scenario happens, the correct remedy is to change casinos given the number of available online casinos in the market nowadays.

Cheating is never the option no matter how difficult the situation may be. Contributing further damage and neglecting my morality for the sake of just winning money at the end is not worth it given on how I was raised in the first place.
915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 19, 2023, 04:43:22 PM
Many people find it difficult to accept who they are and the bad habits that they have, accepting a habit is the first step that will determine if any help offered to you will work. As a gambler, will you find it offensive if you are referred to as a gambling addict? will you easily accept it or try to give excuses like some other people do, saying that they are not addicted to gambling when the signs are clearly there. Do you think identifying as an addicted gambler will make people stereotype you. The answer is different for every gambler here.

The answer depends on the perspective of the person on how he views himself in this kind of entertainment.

If a person somehow denies that he is an addict but his actions say otherwise, then he would most likely get offended and he would justify his actions very well. If a person who is aware that he is indeed suffering from addiction, then most likely he would accept it as a sign for him to receive treatment and support for his actions.

Personally, I would get offended if someone calls me an addict just because I gamble once or twice a month. Maybe it depends on the gravity and the number of times I gamble. Obviously, if I do not gamble frequently and someone calls me an addict, I would get offended by it.
916  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 19, 2023, 04:20:12 PM
<..snip..>
This and many more is the reason behind my current confidence in Bitcoin's ability never to let me lose if I hold for a long time.
Indeed knowledge is power, because knowledge can save you when money failed, because knowledge failure is a lifetime problem but money failure in terms of investment is temporally and if I wait I will soon be in profit again very soon, that is what past records have shown and proven.

I must say, I admire your courage for purchasing BTC before you actually studied it. Normally. potential investors would first study and research the market before they commit to an investment. Though the price of BTC has went down and somehow stabilized, this should not discourage anyone from attempting to invest in this space due to its sheer potential in the future.

By basing it purely on its price history index, you would observe that the price of BTC increases over the years. Along with the upcoming 2024 fork, expect its prices to increase higher as the days passes by.
917  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 19, 2023, 03:13:20 PM
I see poverty as the inability to provide what you need. So when people assume that poverty is when you don't have money I don't agree. Now what if you have all you need and you don't require money to buy anything, are you poor? Some people live in communities where everyone lives agrarian life. They have all they need because everything they need to survive is available. Food is on the farm, water available and everybody is happy. Although it was hard during the Covid-19 lockdown many people lived without money. I have also seen many people leaving cities and moving to rural areas to live a natural life.

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?

Poverty is the lack of enough resources to sustain one's costs of living in a given country. In addition, poverty is also the lack of any sufficient means of livelihood that may cost the family to not meet their daily/monthly obligations.

There are other countries who are poor but that does not automatically equate to poverty. They may be poor but if they can sustain their lifestyle or eat at least three (3) times a day, then they are not considered in the poverty threshold but they are under the below-average income threshold.

Poor is a subjective term that can be applied to all kinds of aspects. It depends on how you would define poor and how you would apply it. One may be poor with love but have lots of resources; while others may be rich with comfort, but poor with resources.
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling, investment, stocks..... on: June 19, 2023, 12:33:40 PM
Since gambling companies are registered companies, is it possible that they have stocks? Is there anyway to invest in a gambling stock? Or let's say gambling related stocks? I am thinking that if this is possible then this could be one of the ways to get the best out of gambling and investment, I can't help but think that most gambling companies in the U.S are almost successful, only little to none run of out business in few years, gambling is a lucrative business, so I need answers if this is possible. Thanks

I think it depends on the gambling company but they have the power to issue stocks, as far as I know. If they indeed release some shares of stocks, then stockholders may purchase and expect regular dividends. But again, it is a risk and a gamble (no pun intended) in itself since investing is already risky- more alone if you invested stocks in a gambling company which is also risky.

I do believe that they have the power to register their corporate name and business in the SEC of each country for them to release stocks. But I do expect that only large gambling companies would do this who have different connections with other business conglomerates.
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you tired of waiting for the jump? Pls Hodl on: June 18, 2023, 11:42:53 PM
To answer this question- nope. I am not tired at all from waiting due to the significance of its value in the market. Just like the trend that happened a few years ago with cryptocurrency, there will become a day where its price would suddenly skyrocket and everyone would benefit from that jump.

I am anticipating that in the year 2024, a massive price increase would happen during the fork. Following the past trends, every fork increases its price on the market significantly. In addition, that is the purpose of HODLing- you wait until its price increases on your initial investment and you reap the rewards on your investment!

Remember that there is no easy way to earn money and to profit from your investments. We are already blessed to have this cryptocurrency earn relatively faster compared to any kind of investment available in the market currently.
920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Majority of investors are quitting, what are you doing? on: June 18, 2023, 03:45:31 PM
I know that some people are already losing their cool because of the crazy things going on with crypto lately, the SEC, and their security nonsense, I can't help but think that Gary Gensler is just manipulating the entire market for a good entry point, he was into crypto right from the start, I heard that he likes cardano and I am sure that he knows how to make money through crypto lows.

I do believe that he is just bluffing everyone around. Remember what happened to Doge Coin where its price exploded on the market after Elon Musk announced its advertisement? Probably, it is the same case even this year. With the influence of Gensler in the cryptocurrency world, for sure he is somehow trying to influence and manipulate the market since what derives the price of cryptocurrencies are the people who are willing to pay for it in the first place.

Quote
I believe Now is not the time to quit, now is the time to be bold enough, keep using dollar cost averaging, and don't wait till when things start turning around before you start taking a step.

I somehow disagree but everything depends on you. With the fork happening in 2024 and by basing it purely on price history index, the price of BTC may skyrocket once again in the coming months and/or years. Perhaps, you are also trying to manipulate everyone for your own gain.... kidding!
