thanks ok i'll just keep the seasonic 860 80plus platinum for the Jupiter and I have a 660w seasonic 80plus platinum for the Saturn

whew..i was like 1 click away from getting the corsairs....(better to be dumb and lucky I guess)

the corsair and seasonic psus are kind of exactly the same thing

ack..... i'll guess i'll just have to take my chances and hope it is the 'specfic' model of corsair they talk about the AX860 I think it was

if I find out diff i'll just plain have to go get another one in town someplace

Searing

It is a totally different class PSU. i wouldn't worry about it.

I think the AX860 is _based_ on the Seasonic 860XP, the one you have. However, you still have a more reliable brand because Corsair does their own work and asks Seasonic to make modifications, for better or worse. I should have gotten a Seasonic, but mine is kind of an copy or so, so i guess it doesn't matter.

However, the Corsair HX series appears to be made by Channel Well rather than Seasonic, so it is totally different, I think.

Will that take some heat off the PSU to cool it down some?

Find out. Many (though mostly older) PSU's need a minimum load on the 5v or they dont regulate properly. This can cause severe issues, like high fluctuations on the 12V.
Just connect a cdrom drive, light bulb, hdd or whatever to put a minimum load on the 5V and see if it makes a difference. If it doesnt help, its not going to hurt either.

HARD RESET
The miner is equipped with a hard reset button. This is located next to the power
input on the controller board. To perform a hard reset on the miner you must
press the button 5 times consecutively
,
wait 5 seconds
, and then
press the button a
further 5 times
. Please note that the miner will not restart

I just ordered a replacement intake fan, I think it should do the trick.

you were never instructed to unplug the pci plugs before resetting...thats why its not working...  lol... it's supposed to be done with the power ON
I just hope you didnt unplug the pci plugs with the unit on, you could easily fry a cap

Welp! I just posted my Unboxing and First Look video. I also made a post, but I thought it would be good to post it here too! Review coming soon!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkZfXzsHWTo

P.S. It cam with a fan knocked off, but other than that, it's fine. Hashing at a stable 530 Gh/s on firmware 0.95. Enjoy the video!

Well done to (I'm guessing) our youngest Jupiter owner!

Fan knocked off and front intake fan dead, but good to see you got it up and running  Smiley

Nice work goosoodude.

http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/psu_manufacturers

I can't speak to the performance of the entire HX series, but my HX1000 has been running pretty much 24/7 on my main computer (the one I'm typing on right now), and ran 3X7970's for the last ? however long since they first came out until I shut them down when I got my avalon, but I still got one 7970 in there for games and litecoin, and the PSU is still kicking ass.

Also, more than once, I had a pile-up of laundry or other debris blocking the exhaust of the PSU (I have a case where the PSU is on the bottom) and it got very hot, it ran pretty hot mostly all the time, but when the exhaust would get blocked it was totally roasting, and still, not one hiccup or complaint.

of course, your mileage may vary, and I am very impressed with the efficiency of the Seasonic 1000 platinum, the thing barely gets warm, but I haven't nearly put it through the kind of torture that old HX1000's been through..

the only thing I worry about (and the main reason I chose the seasonic) is that the HX1000 is not a single-rail design, and I wonder if some of the problems we've seen aren't due to imbalanced loading on a multi-rail device??? But I'm not an engineer, I just played one in university. Wink

i called knc yesterday asking why there is no payout for my knc hosted jupiters. the said they are all running very bad, none over 100 Gh/s. this morning i changed to eligius to check how the are doing:

average of 536 Gh/s . someone must have been busy there.  Smiley

eligius started paying out after 90 min. why didn´t kncpool ever ? did anyone of the knc hosted customers get regular payout, or -like in my case - compensation only ?

That is great news. Hopefully they have the firmware thing under control. And perhaps the PS "issue" as well...

Yeah the knc pool so far is pretty bad. No stats no nothing. No pay-outs also (well none for me).

Better to change pool like Eligius or something else with actual stats and.... pay-outs Cheesy

I'd rather stick to the pools that actually know what they're doing.

KNC are still new in the pool game. It would've been a miracle if they actually had a pool up and running completely fault free/feature complete on their first attempt.

There is just one simple conclusion on this HF vs KNC vs (include any ASIC producer here) debate: we, the buyers put and (most likely) will continue to put nice wealth into the bank accounts of those companies. The rest of the debate is pointless from a financial point of view Smiley

hey most of us here I think hope it all works out with hashfast..but I too think you will get a visit from "Murphy" don't ya know....(hey I lost money to bfl and put money into knc...only so much $$$ I can throw at this stuff) ...anyway hope hashfast follows thru at a high level .....the more that get their crap together customer service/output on time wise the better...I swear if there are too many more BFL's out there..we will all run to Litecoin...more noise...more $$ from gpu stuff but heck of a lot less drama imho...

Careful what you wish for. If hashfast delivers on spec, in time and in volume, the impact on difficulty will make it about as painful as getting BFL'ed. Thats the whole point with these preorder asic miners, either you get screwed because the vendors do deliver, or you get screwed because they dont. The simple reality is that the money already plunged on preorders in all likely hood exceeds total mining revenue for the next 6 months.  The only way to have any hope of breaking even is buying from a company that does deliver, while the rest doesnt.

I have not bought any asic, nor do I intend to, but if I were a KnC customer, I would sure wish for HF's chip to come out with a major unfixable flaw in its design.

So, in your opinion the money "plunged" into preorders exceeds 127 million usd? Are you stupid or did you not do the math before posting that?
