Digital currency works for me....lets make it official.

Here's a very small, very obvious problem:
What do you think of when you hear the words crypto-currency ?
Crypt as in tomb/grave, cryptic as in complex/overcomplicated, encrypt as in encode/hide something....see where I'm going here?
The very phrase that we use to describe our alternative currency movement is full of bad associations for Joe Public.
I strongly suggest that no-one ever uses the word crypto ever again....at least not where Joe Public can hear you.

1.2 million in BTC for vaporware given to a charity with no legal comebacks......I really need to run an IPO. Anyone want some EvilCoin?
I'm starting to smell an approaching IPO........

I have tried but too much of a hassle
I don't wanna send bitcoins to some shady exchange that launched same day as the coin itself and only deals with 2 currencies (btc + othercoin). That's just not for me.
Like BTER or Cryptsy ? +1 to lucky88888, btw. NXT: love your money

The coming features of NXT will drop like bombs on the cryptoworld.
for example: Decentralized Alias System, Decentralized DNS, Arbitrary Messaging, Distributed Storage, Voting System, Reputation System, Smart Contracts
Tell me just one coin which has just ONE innovation.
Then why is Mastercoin price so high and NXT price keeps falling and falling? NXT price is sliding, like all pretty much all crypto. BTC is also on the fall, so no surprise there. In the last couple of months NXT has been amazingly stable, it's held steady at #6-#7 (on market cap) for a very long time. In this time, NXT has been getting some very cool stuff together and making sure that it works properly. Once the Asset Exchange in in place on mainnet.......NXT is going to start becoming the one crypto to rule them all. NXT is nowhere near finished yet, what you see right now is only NXT's first generation feature set. (btw, dont forget that NXT will include pretty much all of MaidSafe's functionality)

SCAM or not? Maybe we will have the answer within 1 or 2 years.
You have the answer now: NXT is not a scam. Really. It is genuine, innovative and backed by a real dev team and community. Like all coins so far, some fat bastards who don't deserve it will get rich, but there a lot of other guys who will also make money out of it. You could, if you have the sense to buy in now..... BTW: HarryPotterCoin ? Can I have some.... http://www.buysilver.org/blog/harry-potter-bullion-coins/

Bitcoin and NXT
Yep, BTC for the solid (ish) backbone to your portfolio, NXT for the innovative gamble. (tho I don't really see NXT as a gamble any more, I know whats coming up.....) NEM looks good for the founders, nice distro, but I don't know if has serious long-term potential. Time will tell, I'm fairly certain NEM will go nuclear when it launches. My prediction for 2014 is the death of LTC. I got out 3/4 months ago and haven't regretted it yet. For the rest: look for something with at least a little bit of innovation, make sure that there is a real dev team and community backing in place. Maybe half (or more) of the alts on conmarketcap are just backed up by one sweaty dude in a basement somewhere. (or a raving lunatic...check Marinecoin.) A coin won't get anywhere these days without a supportive community at least, see Doge for a perfect example.

Damn, 2Kool4Skewl, I'm so jealous. I had to set fire to my G-IV last week, cos one of the tires was flat. I miss that plane.....

At just over 2 cents a piece I think there's still plenty of time and upside for NXT if you're a fan.
Nobody wants to buy something where the 'founders' have a pocket full of them just waiting to sell and buy a new Mercedes. Don't worry about it. I already bought my new Mercedes this year from my other crypto investments. I got 5 Mercs, bee-atch, and a nice new Beemer to go with. I really can't believe peeps are still whining about NXT distribution. The distribution is currently better/fairer than BTC or a lot better than most of the other alts around here. So, some guys got rich....boohoo, why wasn't it me, mummy? It's not too late to get into NXT, btw, price is low, BTC is low and u can get 20,000 NXT per BTC. Many of NXTs 2nd gen features are going to be coming on line in the next few months. That's when you're going to see NXT really taking off, right now it's very quiet on the surface but theres a lot going on under the water, in terms of dev work. Just to finish, many of the 73 NXT founders have been throwing their NXT back into the NXT economy, paying for devs, promotion, infrastructure, conferences...etc, they are not all greedy whales sitting on their fat arses..... Think i've made up my mind about investing in Marinecoin. *kof* nutter *kof* Why can both of the MC guys not use the quote feature properly?

This was so cool, from: I cant seem to find much writing about marinecoin on this forum. If anyone has any links to threads or thoughts on the subject, id love to hear em.
to this: The market cap is not 'faked'. It is actually 100% accurate based on total and available supply amounts and value. And yes, every coin has a tactic on driving up the price of the coin. That is the game. By controlling the influx of coins in the market and having the availability to supply rare mineable coins to the public, it actually creates a brilliant plan for a constant state of growth. As far as intimidation/bullying/evil monsters? Sorry is there any examples of this? I have definitely seen it before with other coins developers being ripped to shreds on forums and going back to cry in their hole.. but again i have seen little activity about marine coin other then short unexplained subjective quotes. Thanks for any info!
Inside less than a page. Guy really should learn how to get the sock off his hand consistently. The more I hear about Marine, the more facepalm.....I'm used to some lunacy in the alt-world, but this is next level.

because NXT does not make money anymore for them
Might be hard to get the point here, but NAS is not supported or created by the NXT community or dev team. I have no frigging idea who is running NAS, but they are not helping NXT in the least.
NAS has (almost) bugger all to do with the NXT community. The NAS guys have upset plenty of people within NXT, to say the least. And that distribution.......
TBH: A lot of NXT guys/girls/whatevers signed up for a free share of NAS, like a lot of other people, but NAS is in no way affiliated with the NXT core community.
As for my own personal position, I signed up for a free share, then received an insane amount of NAS from the founders. So if NAS goes large, I will make a fortune. But I still can't/won't give my total support to NAS. If the NAS guys start to do something serious with it and actually give me the feeling that this is more than a get-rich-quick scheme, then I'll get on board. Right now, I'm on the fence, despite my large NAS pile.
TLDR version: NAS is not NXT, really. Give NAS some time, see what the NAS crew actually do with it.
Even I've been persuaded to get on the NAS bandwagon......I feel I should resist and moan a bit about NXT clones, but I can't stay away from freebies.
Good luck to NAS, anyhow, theres plenty of room in crypto world for all of us.
Traps in the code have all been found, afaik, and the code has been completely open source for a while, but the NXT code is totally innovative stuff and finding good Java devs who are prepared to work on a get-rich-quick clone isn't all that easy. And NXT has grabbed all the good/available Java devs we can find.
NXT has a fairly serious dev team, (and a dedicated community) and even with them on board we are still not hitting targets for getting features out as quickly as we'd like.
And there is the elephant in the room: the combination of NXT Asset Exchange and the ability to issue colored coins over the NXT blockchain will make cloning NXT in the old-fashioned way completely pointless.
Why go to the trouble of setting up a clone, when u can just do the same thing from within the NXT system?
If you like NAS...try the original. NXT has had it's issues in the past, but it is packed full of innovative features, not just another pump 'n' dump clone of BTC/LTC Just take a look at the insane number of NXT clones springing up....if NXT is so awful, why clone it? These guys all know that NXT is going to be a serious contender for the #2 (or maybe even #1) spot in the not-so-distant future, and are trying to get in on the action, by setting up a clone-coin to put themselves in the position of the semi-mythical NXT founders/early adopters. Problem is that they don't quite understand how NXT works: when u can issue any electronic asset u like to create thru the NXT Asset Exchange, why bother setting up a clone ? When AE goes live, I'll be able to create and distribute EvilCoin inside an afternoon........with a long coffee + cigarette break. TLDR: Get into NXT, forget the clones, most of them are already dead. The new NXT forum: https://nxtforum.org/Intro site: http://www.nxtcrypto.org/
