Q: GUI version?
A: No. The RPC interface makes it possible for someone else to write one though.
GOD, please NO....NO GUI.

Considering I am (for the most part) Window's brainwashed and anti-cmd-line (read: LAZY), I couldn't imagine using CGMiner any other way.

I am a Win7 x64 Miner and use BAT files to launch CGMiner on all of my rigs.
I found it actually took LESS TIME to configure and maintain a decent BAT file for CGMiner control than it took to configure GUIminer, with it's GUI none the less.

With the available Flags, anything is possible and creating 1 BAT file, then copying over to like-machines is a snap.

Web Monitoring/RPC Interface...GREAT. Main CGMiner GUI ? P L E A S E  N O !

I don't even bother using the new Config file, as I use the BAT files to also set CPU affinity to a single core (as my band-aid for the Windows 100% CPU bug).

Switching settings for me is as simple as commenting IN & OUT of a line in the BAT file, depending on what I want CGMiner to do for me, at a given time/room temp etc.

It's safe to say that, I love CGMiner....LOL

Don't worry.  The developer has expressed no interest in a cgminer gui.  The point of the answer is that RPC allows a GUI to be developed.

For example you could have an android app which monitors an entire 20GH, 50 GPU farm.  Someone else could design a web server front end possibly w/ SMS notification on critical failures (GPU not responding so you get a text message).

Even if you offered him money I think the chance that a GUI is integrated into cgminer is <0%.  The good news is that w/ RPC there is no need to have a GUI integrated into the miner.

Can you, in whatever command line window, set "ulimit -c unlimited", then execute a new instance of cgminer and quit that at once (it should print something like "segmentation violation: core dumped"). You can do that without stopping any other running cgminer instances you may have.
There should then be a file called "core" in whatever directory you're in.
After this, execute "gdb path/to/cgminer core" and in gdb first execute "bt" and then "bt full", and post the results here?

My suspicion is/was that cgminer now triggers some bug in the AMD opencl driver which it didn't before, but if it is only a catalyst problem, it should occur for ckolivas, too (assuming he still uses 11.6).

This is not what you wanted; gdb complains about the core file; something's missing:

Check the directory, it will be called core.something where something is a number. It will not be called just core.

Check the directory, it will be called core.something where something is a number. It will not be called just core.

Hmm?  The complaint was:
"/home/brec/miners/cgminer/core": not in executable format: File format not recognized

rather than not found.  And:

Code:
brec@ubuntu:~/miners/cgminer$ ll core

Again, died in the ATI driver.

Well without hardware to reproduce it here, I'm kinda stuck for now. Unless someone has the knowhow to do a git bisect and find when the problem started happening, then I'm at a loss. My GPU based mining hardware may not be online for weeks again Sad

Again, died in the ATI driver.

Well without hardware to reproduce it here, I'm kinda stuck for now. Unless someone has the knowhow to do a git bisect and find when the problem started happening, then I'm at a loss. My GPU based mining hardware may not be online for weeks again Sad

Fantastic, thanks very much. All I need to do is not pthread_join then.

Sweet, thanks!

I don't know what to make of the other reports of connectivity issues since none of that code was actually changed... Unless something changed indirectly by addition of the API code?

Are you referring to the connection problems with the donation pool?
My guess about those is either spam/botnet protection by the pool or some sort of location-based misconfiguration by the ISP or whatever (IOW network problems). I doubt it's in the code, but it would be nice if the code somehow didn't wait for a successful connection to the donation pool and simply background the whole donation pool connection process. That way it won't interrupt mining and still give the pool a chance to be used.
I can try doing some protocol debugging when that happens and I have the time, but I'm kinda booked for the next few days...

I don't know about the others but I have seen this all the way back to 2.0.0, only have logs in 2.0.7 though. Restarting the machine solves it for anywhere from an hour to a month.  Figured it was just my router, it's more frequent with more miners on the same router.

I'd suggest this is a known old problem and not cgminer either.
A few months back I had issues connecting to one pool and it worked fine on all other pools.
The problem occurred when my network link included my PowerLine link from my garage to my unit over the electrical cables - it's a low quality connection and somehow that affected connecting to a single pool but worked fine with others.
Redirecting the link via an ssh tunnel over the PowerLine also resolved it for that pool.
So, basically, network issues seem to affect mining even when other network access seems to be OK. (curl+json sux)
I guess it's valid to blame the network link (as was the pool decision back then) so I'd also suggest such current problems are network related also.

I had to lower the clocks on 5 cards (2 separate rigs) with 2.1.0 because they were locking up, and they were not previously, but they are more stable at I 9 now where I was using I 7 and 8.  But my rejects are down. Maybe SAC is seeing 2 different issues...drop the clocks and see what happens.

My hash rate dropped from 84 to 61 without making any changes to the system (upon a simple shut down and power on). Great.

I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions?
