I have a bunch of modminers running on ubuntu and on the new version 2.10.0 the display is showing each fpga individually and I can't see all of them. Also the accept share display isn't showing due to the fact that there is to many devices. Is there anyway to fix this. Thanks.
compact mode, or use more remote monitoring with something like miner.php How do you run compact mode? I never had to use this option before. |

I'm saw the same thing today, simultaneous crash on all rigs upon Stratum detection of a new block.
Thought it was Windo'hs Update at first, but that's disabled on rigs that still crashed.
Putting half the farm on 2.9.6 and half on 2.9.7-1 until it's sorted.
Yeah I noticed the same. All of mine crashed at the same time upon detection of a new block. BTW, thanks ckolivas for the debugger. I'll be sure to give that a go in case any of my rigs crash again. |

From the command line: --compact Use compact display without per device statistics Or from the menu while it's running, press D for display and you'll see it there. It does get rid of all the device stats tho. |

Thanks for all this effort to find out ....
anyway, as GPU mining is not profitable anymore, I'm using my rig to heat my office room with "zero profit mining" ...... until summer ... then it will be time to shut off this nice hobby... until coin price jumps.

As a windows (BFL) miner and the issues described I'm curious as to the difficulty to set up the following configuration....
Win OS running Virtual Box which runs a Linux OS, running CGminer?
Thoughts? Easy to configure COM ports etc.? Performance Concerns?
I might give it a go in any case but it could be a "work around" of sorts for windows based miners for the time being?

BFL is the next one (MMQ already done) I'm going to switch over to USB (i.e. not Serial-USB) so COM ports won't mean anything The Serial-USB sux (especially on windows) and obviously I need that to perform very well if people are going to be plugging ASIC devices into their computers ... so BFL is next ... From a VM point of view - that will add more latency and I've no idea what problems that might cause. I guess we just gotta find this bug  Sooner or later. |

Windows has its problems ... but its biggest one is most of the users are technologically clueless. Linux's biggest problem is how difficult it is to use. KDE is easier to use than Windows, at least. The problem is really the "hehe I know the control panel, so I'm not clueless!" type. |

M Actually the correct argument about windows is that computer software is in effect 10 years behind where it would have been had MS not been the dominant provider of computer OSes. Mac, Amiga and Atari provided functional well used GUI based OSs long before Windows 95 appeared. (Windows 3 is not an OS) The Amiga had a full colour, GUI, good sound pre-emtive OS 10 years before that, used by everyone who bought the hardware. Windows 3 was simply a program running on top of a that POS MSDos and was being used long after even Windows 95 appeared. Even with high performance graphics, it wasn't until DirectX was in common use many years later that games were actually using the OS rather than taking over the computer coz the OS sucked so badly. Meanwhile look at Windows 8 - lets turn Windows into an iPad - damn I am so glad I am not dependent of that trash that MS puts out. In fact I'd go as far as to say that I hate MS for the fact that they try to dumb things down so that the average idiot can use it. Seriously, let the average idiot go buy iPads and such and be happy with that mind numbingly simple and limited device. Meanwhile, the other 5% (that's a guess) of people who know how to use computers shouldn't have to be given an interface even a 2 year old can use easily to stop them from clicking on the wrong damn button. I'm not talking about geeks, I'm even referring to your typical office worker who has to use computers in everyday life and has gotten used to being able to do more than click on a big square that says 'click here' The worst part of all this is that I see it happening sometimes even in the Linux world now. Idiots who think like MS trying to dumb things down, but not only dumbing them down, restricting what can be done. |

I am using Gentoo Linux, and I have nvidia-cuda libraries installed.
I see my Geforce 8800GT (yes I know it's as much use as a fart in a spacesuit) has 100 odd cuda cores.
How do I know if cgminer is seeing / using them?
I have O/Cd the card and I am getting around 26Mh/s.

I've tried removing anything having to do with a GPU from my config file, and I realized that while I was using ozcoin's servers, one of my backkup pools was a direct IP for the ozcoin server. They had dns issues a while back, so I set this. Could having a backup pool be the same pool as your main pool cause any issues, if one is set to a typical name, and the other is a direct IP?
It's been ~36 hour and 12k+ (diff 2) shares, and no crashes. 2.9.7-1 on Win8x64 on 1 BFL Single. |
