2241  Economy / Gambling / Re: Slot Games' RTP, variable?? on: April 10, 2022, 08:53:48 AM
I'm not sure but I remember reading a similar discussion back then as the player tried to point out there was one casino that had a slightly higher payout compared to another casino even though the game is the same.

I think one of the slot providers that lets you do this is Booming or Betsoft, not sure if it's both of them but i'm sure that the name of the provider is starting with the letter "B" since these are the providers that most casinos have back then.

This is interesting- was the discussion backed with evidence and facts? In addition, did the gambling websites disclose such information to the public or was it purely based on his gathered data and information? I am curious as to how the methodology of such research went as this can either make or break a gambling website's profit in the long-run.

As regards to OP's question, I really doubt that a gambling website would disclose such important piece of information to the public. Preferably, slot machines that have high RTP are the ones to be preferred if you plan on gambling long-term. But this could definitely hurt the gambling business as this would be prejudicial on their part.
2242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin's price stabilize someday? on: April 09, 2022, 06:11:15 PM
Bitcoin has achieved a lot nearly 13 years since its inception. Ever since mainstream adoption skyrocketed like crazy, prices have never been the same as they were before. As it's been proven over time, Bitcoin outperforms Gold, Silver, and nearly every other asset on Earth. Despite widespread adoption of Bitcoin by mainstream businesses, companies, and governments alike, prices relative to Fiat haven't stabilized yet. It's something that I find odd, since institutional investors are already in the game. Not only that but some ETFs have been approved by the SEC. If Gold's price is relatively stable, why can't Bitcoin be the same?

Why do you think Bitcoin's price hasn't stabilized yet? Is there a possibility they will stabilize in the future? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

I don't think so, but this heavily depends on government implementations and laws surrounding a particular country. What makes BTC price volatile is its inflationary nature and being decentralized. While gold may be inflationary, its heavily regulated by institutions when it comes to its price.

With BTC in the picture, if governments from around the world would implement prohibitions and/or strict regulations, we can at least expect its price to be somehow regulated and stable in the future. Though if this happens, I think that this would go totally against the vision of what Satoshi imagine- which is to have a decentralized currency which is free from any control of the government.
2243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dormant Address Containing 100 BTC Activated After 12.4 Years When BTC Was $0.08 on: April 09, 2022, 12:21:58 PM
A 50 million percent gain. At the time around 2010, Bitcoin value was about $0.08 which worth more than 53.7M at 43k levels

Man, I wonder what the person is feeling right now. Does he perhaps forgot that he invested and HODLed around 100 BTCs currently; or was he waiting for the perfect opportunity to sell and activate such coins? A whopping 50 million percent gain is just unreal- these things only happen to cryptocurrencies which are just extremely volatile.

It makes you think- what would happen in a few years from now? Will we experience the same gain (or at least relative to) if we HODL our coins let's say 10-20 years from now? Well one thing is for sure, better to HODL at least some of your coins and treat them as long-term investments for your children or family to use.
2244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are getting stronger, how are you contributing? on: April 09, 2022, 10:48:58 AM
Just a quick question, how do you reach out to these individuals? Since most of them did not come from this forum, are they your regular customers in your business who just happened to be curious on cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, to be specific) as well?

This is very surprising as the widespread knowledge of cryptocurrencies is indeed increasing. Over the past years, there is this stigma attached to cryptocurrencies flagging them as something that cannot be trusted on due to its decentralization. With its active and growing popularity, people are now joining this movement in advocating its use, which is very beneficial in the long-run.

Out of curiosity, are you willing to ship your orders overseas and what are the price range of your products, OP?
2245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: April 08, 2022, 11:54:02 PM
didn't even know about Karakajin's situation so went to google it

Russia’s Sergey Karjakin banned from chess for supporting invasion of Ukraine

idk, even though I disagree with him I don't like the cancellation culture, I don't think a GM should be banned from playing because he supports the war and the president of his country, his ideology won't affect the way he plays and has no relation to chess so what is the point?

everything turned into politics lately.
Us vs them taken to the extreme.

Along with any other sport, there are certain ethical standards that a player must follow. While people might have conflicting views regarding a certain topic, they must say so in a way that will not be disrespectful to anyone.

The problem with Karjakin is that he made statements that are very disrespectful in this bloody and unnecessary war, in which judgement was served upon him. Russia has been using sport as a form of propaganda, stating that the war was necessary.

Just to give you a concrete example, Sergei Shipov also made statements regarding the war. But compared to Karjakin, Shipov's statements were less provocative and different in character. As a caliber of a player Karjakin is, he must uphold himself with high status and responsibility as always.
2246  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you prefer lots of promotions over better RTP? on: April 08, 2022, 11:42:52 PM
Now my question is this... do you prefer that a casino offer loads of promotions and campaigns and sponsorships and sacrifice RTP in favor of that.... or will you rather have a decent gambling experience with a better RTP?

Personally, I would choose a gambling website that offers the best return-to-player profit for the best possible scenario.

Gambling in itself is already risky- profits are not guaranteed and you suffer absolute loss of the money you wagered if you lost the bet. Assuming that the risk associated in one gambling site that has better RTP is the same with another gambling site that has tons of promotions, then I think it is obvious that you would choose the former.

Better to maximize all the profits since the risks associated with the two are the same. Though marketing in a gambling website gives you the sense of security that they are genuine, again, profits wise, best RTPs still win by a long shot.
2247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is crypto becoming centralized? on: April 08, 2022, 11:31:49 PM

Do you think ever-increasing centralization is a cause of concern? What would be the impact of tightening regulations over the entire crypto/Blockchain space? Will it still be able to survive? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
I'm considering the fact that the regulations will help to stop non-profitable investments, scams, and fake projects. I'm in favor to have such regulations for this it helps people to put an investment as they can assure that their fund is safe...well, this is a positive side

But if we talk about the negative impact on the user and investor's ends, these things we possibly get,
 * taxes
 * high fees
 * controlled market price
 * they can freeze our accounts and seize our money

There are always some negative impact if we were to embrace centralization from cryptocurrencies. But to be honest, centralization goes against the vision of what Satoshi imagined as it somehow defeats the purpose of creating a decentralized currency.

The question is, is centralization essential in order to combat the aforementioned issues of scams, hacks, etc. ? I do not think so. While there may be scams and fake projects, a diligent person may be able to overcome it by being responsible. Though one thing that he cannot control are the hacking of exchanges, but this can be resolved if you were to move your coins to your respective hardware wallet.

Though centralization of some coins may sound feasible, this would disrupt the balance and vision of having a decentralized currency which is free from any control.
2248  Economy / Economics / Re: Methods of Coping with Food Shortages and High Prices on: April 08, 2022, 11:17:42 PM
Most of those suggestions are just not what everybody can do. If you got a large family and live in an apartment, where are you going to grow all those vegetables? And even if you got the space you probably won’t be able to grow it fast enough.

I agree with stock piling with bulk on some certain food groups. During covid many people bought tons of rice and flour and most are probably going to do that soon.

Making people eat less is not a good solution because even if someone is over weight and can eat less they will suffer in the process.

This only works if the person has sufficient landscape to produce those bearing fruits- but yea, unfortunately not all people has the necessary land space for this. Though the suggestions are feasible, like you mentioned, the best possible thing to do to cope with food shortages is to purchase bulk orders and stock them as soon as possible. With high prices come high demand, it is but necessary but to purchase more before prices do increase further in the future.

Personally, this is a problem that the government must addressed to its citizens. They must come up with a mechanism that combat food shortages and high prices as inflation is increasing.
2249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Putin at risk of being stopped by his own military Generals on: April 08, 2022, 03:35:08 PM
In wars like this there will certainly come a point  where personal interest will surpass the collective aim of the country.  Following  the closeness of this two countries it won't  be surprising  to find Russian soldiers whose origin is of Ukraine and will want to secure the lives of their loved ones.

Gradually Putin is losing his safety because despite  how much he puts in place to monitor his generals he will not have an accurate  statistics of Ukrainian intels working  against  him in the Russian military

I think I read somewhere that there were Russian troops defecting and intentionally not following the orders of Putin, as they really realized the consequence of this war.

Unfortunately, lots of unnecessary bloodshed happened in the past weeks due to this far. Infrastructures were destroyed; residential areas are now unhabitable; and other medical facilities are absolutely desecrated. Not to mention, the economy and finances of Russia have been slowly deteriorating due to the recent pull-out of Western influences and businesses in their country. It is just about time that Putin's own army, generals, and military would turn agains him due to this massacre.

I just really hope that there may be some sort of agreement that can end this war.
2250  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which would be better ? on: April 08, 2022, 12:12:03 PM
Which would be better for gambling casinos or sports games?
I've seen both but sports seem a lot easier to me and casinos are hard for me.

Again, this depends on your preference as a gambler. Generally, gamblers who just really want to gamble pick casinos as there are various card games that end relatively fast. On the other hand, sports games are for gamblers who at least are knowledgeable about the certain sport/s they are betting on. With more knowledge and information, the risks are mitigated to the point that you can comfortably bet on the team which has the better odds.

Quote
What do I need to know to play casino?

Well, you at least have to know the basics of the card game in the casino. If you do not know the card game that you are playing, then better read some information on the internet but generally, they are quick and easy to understand.

Quote
Which is a more profitable casino or sports game?

This depends but generally sports games have lower risks of winning. Again, your knowledge on a certain sport can lower the risks and odds of you. If you are betting on a team which has a good winning streak and/or record, then chances are that the latter would win the next game.

Quote
And Which Platform should take as a newbie gambler, casino or sports?

As a newbie gambler, I would personally suggest betting into sports as this will inquire about your information on a certain sport. If you do not regularly watch sports, then I suggest betting in card games inside a casino.
2251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin Charity Work on: April 08, 2022, 11:31:10 AM
For your second charity work, the challenge here is to capture the attention of your participants especially that the topic of cryptocurrencies is relatively complicated and complex.

Given that your actual participants are the so-called "youth" like you mentioned, you have to at least use layman's terms in order for them to understand it completely. I applaud your initiative as this topic is hardly touched upon by most people but you really have to prepare and explain it in detail in order not to bore your participants.

Nonetheless, I am wishing you all the best for your discussion. Kindly update us with pictures and give us any feedback after your discussion on how everything went, OP.
2252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FFDroider Stealer: New malware stealer on: April 08, 2022, 08:53:19 AM
Almost all hacks and scams start from somewhere and some external action made by a person- like downloading stuff from risky websites such as torrents, etc.

If a person downloads something on the internet, he/she runs into the risks of injecting malware to his laptop/PC. That is why, everyone must truly exercise caution in surfing the web. Another thing, it is also advisable that you keep a separate repository of your coins to the laptop/PC that you are using in the event that you get hacked. That is why, almost everyone has a hardware wallet to keep their respective coins safe.

Nonetheless, this is really informative, OP. Everyone should be careful on what you download on the internet given that scams nowadays are very rampant.
2253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin traders are denied bank accounts globally by the banks- Satoshi Nakamoto on: April 08, 2022, 05:46:47 AM
The solution to this problem is 'we' need to setup a bank, let's discuss and support me, I on the way to set up a Commercial Crypto Bank.
Does bitcoin community globally need a bank ?

I do not think that by setting-up a decentralized bank would solve the issue- in fact, it can be resolved relatively easier depending on the exchange regulations per country.

The problem with banks is that they seem to doubt the authenticity of the funds coming from your wallet. They often flag or at least question the veracity of the funds coming from them as they are heavily regulated. Fortunately, there are local exchanges that offer services in order to get your cash. In addition, I think you can also submit extra KYC documents in order to bypass such regulation.
2254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The reason people join bitcointalk forum on: April 08, 2022, 02:02:17 AM
Either ways, the motive of joining the forum has made many to still achieve the primary aim of why the group is created. To learn about the basics of bitcoin and how the market works plus mining.

I remember back in 2017, my friend convinced me to join this forum so I could learn more about cryptocurrencies as it is a topic which was touched upon in one of our subjects. I became quickly curious about its development and process- which somehow introduced an innovative idea behind our transactions under the so-called "blockchain."

I do realize that learning and knowing about cryptocurrencies is an edge and is something that I considered vital to the future. It just so happened that campaign signatures were a trend which gave an opportunity to people to be rewarded with BTC or any altcoins available, depending on the campaign.

Unfortunately, lots of newbies nowadays plague the forum spamming and creating threads which purport to be scams. In addition, lots of bounty campaigns have surfaced creating an influx of newbies joining bounty campaigns which somehow degrades the overall integrity of the forum.

Though I do understand that we have all our financial needs (especially to people living in third-world countries, including myself), it's just that people scamming one another is just truly unacceptable.
2255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elizabeth Warren hatred for crypto is like no other on: April 08, 2022, 12:34:48 AM
Don't tell me you have nothing to say about Elizabeth Warren, she is yet again throwing stones at crypto claiming that Russia can use crypto to evade sanctions, FUD? But it's said that Ukraine got up to 20million in crypto donations, why can't see just support this instead of FUD?
Cant really control what others would say regarding crypto. First and foremost, bitcoin is decentralized and if Russia using dex which has no jusirdiction by thr government cant really intervene on their thing if they wanted to use btc or crypto for that matter. Its just a simple gesture which should be ignore actually.

Exactly, given that cryptocurrencies are decentralized, it is under no jurisdiction by any countries unless there is a law to the contrary. With regard to the situation in Russia, as far as I know, the country is accepting and heavily considering making cryptocurrencies as an alternative mode of payment in order to address their economic and financial downfall.

Again, this is how cryptocurrencies operate in the first place. With no regulation or authority, cryptos can be transacted from one place to another without worrying too much on how and who sent it.
2256  Other / Meta / Re: My Thoughts about the Intelligent Quotient Questions! on: April 07, 2022, 11:57:01 PM
Just a quick question, wouldn't it be better if we have some kind of implementation where it teaches newbies the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies? For example, instead of having random trivia questions, would it be beneficial if we have some kind of questions relating to cryptocurrencies and a hyperlink directing it to a discussion of a thread created in the forum?

I somehow think that this kind of implementation goes with the spirit of this forum- where we teach and inform everyone about its history and other related discussion. I hope theymos considers the potential of having those questions and its impact as a whole in the long-run for both new and old users.
2257  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is safe heaven not against volatility but as store value on: April 07, 2022, 11:47:44 PM
If military attacking ur home ur gold or silver even house will be gone most likely the bank building gone all the local structures gone only thing is left crypto its in the internet it does not have o ne speficic location
So in chaos crypto is only way to keep wealth u might have.
But only thing is ....those btc wallets must have some servers physical locations or they cloud based ??

While I do agree with you, it is still advisable if you could keep your assets focused into multiple locations as having physical cash/assets are still better. The problem with cryptocurrencies is that its price could be extremely volatile in the face of war and crisis. Exchanges run also the risk of having scammed/hacked by hackers given that they exists primarily in the internet. Everything is at risk and that is why it is essential to keep and have a contingency.

Lastly, physical assets always have value regardless of the current situation. While BTC may be a good store of value due to its high price in the market, lots of things could escalate that could effect its price in the market.
2258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: April 07, 2022, 11:30:22 PM
I've seen them pop up all around me, in small convenience stores and even restaurants. I was wondering if it's a good option to buy a gift for someone else, or are the fees too high and it's not worth it? Also I'm not sure how it works but figuring they give you a private key, and how safe is that?

I do not think so given that our local exchange (here in the Philippines) already offers services that suit my convenience.

Unlike international exchanges like Binance, our local exchange (coins.ph) offer services that are very convenient on our part. For example, we have an instant conversion of BTC to our local currency; and we can pay our monthly bills using such money. In addition, we can also purchase any products/services under our desired need and we can also directly transfer our funds to our bank accounts.

The only downside is, the transaction fees and conversion rates are relatively high; and KYC documents are somehow strict which requires us to send our monthly ITRs, etc.
2259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does staking even make any sense on: April 07, 2022, 03:37:53 PM
How do people even enjoy staking their coins and tokens? I'm confused, yesterday I tried to stake some amount of stable coin aka USDT on Binance Exchange and it is worth 1000$ but the return on this in a year is 95$ lol, I laughed so hard that I almost flipped my laptop, why the heck people doing this?.

People have more than money than you imagine people with million dollar and staking it without doing anything and get 9.5% in return. Also it is important to look at the APY not all coins have the same APY so you should consider that too.

Imagine a scenario where you have $100 on your bank and you attempted to invest it. Unfortunately, the legal interest rate (as far as I know in the Philippines) is around 6% annually and you would receive merely $6 by the end of this year. The investment you made may sound relatively small but imagine if you were some rich millionaire who has millions of funds stored without any use.

Applying the example above, the more money you stake the higher the returns would be. It is just a matter on how much capital you are willing to risk in a given exchange for staking.
2260  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you want to be an admin of an online casino? on: April 07, 2022, 02:54:17 PM
<snip>
I also thought you are just looking for an admin for your site.
I looked around your site, it is not good, just pure honesty. I think you have to be more serious on the development of your gambling site before you look for your investors. I believe you will have a hard time looking for any investor if your site is like that. Can't even log in, create an account, play anything. Regardless, goodluck Smiley

I visited the gambling website and noticed on how incomplete the website is. Like what most have also pointed out, the part where you are asking for a "manager" for administration does not equate to your thread, as you are looking for an investor. When you mean by a manager, it somehow implies that he/she will manage or be under the administration of managing the affairs of some gamblers.

One last thing to point out, what you need is an investor and a web-designer. Though I acknowledge your effort in creating this self-made website, it still needs a lot of work in order to compete with the titans of gambling websites available in the internet. Good luck, OP.
