Simplemining just implemented Rxboost on linux  Cool

It's rather simple adjustment that I discovered a few days ago, so it's easy to clone it Smiley It works for old AMD cards too, so "-rxboost" option will also support old cards in next update.
The real magic is to apply straps on latest Nvidia (Turing), Nvidia protected these cards from such tricks, I have a solution for it too, but need some time to implement it properly before including into miner.
What rxboost actually doing?

It increases refresh interval: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_refresh
This setting is not included in AMD straps so you cannot change it with straps.
-rxboost 2-100 means 100 - max, 2 - min?

Any idea about low hashrate? Rxboot and strap no used, card are bios modded. Compute mode is on. Driver is 19.5.1. Claymore is 14.5.  6*rx480, aprx 4.8 Mh/s each. On claymore 12.0 and old blockchain driver was 30 Mh/s

I think nvidia part of the miner is really beta Cheesy,
multiple gpus crash with strap 0 intensity 0, +0 mem while before took +700 mem with ethminer or phoenix
some gpus with straps crash after 46hours of mining - this I think might indeed be to much OC, but still I would expect it to crash sooner
but really I think it is some driver (DCH on rigs with most issues) or even just NVML issue (again DCH seems to have differences in NVML) - well thinking of it now, issues on rigs without DCH drivers are kinda manageable and be indeed cause by straps or too much OC, but on rigs with DCH it seems to just not work correctly
Of all the nvidia rigs only one just works after applying straps, while mostly nvidia gpus are same with same memory in all of the rigs.

I dunno maybe i just don't know how to do things, but my amd rigs use straps (in bios) and work 100% stable. Some autotune for nvidia or something would be nice.

Maybe a way to know memory errors like hwinfo does on AMD? But AFAIK NVML does not report it for consumer cards, so some hack possible?

Please don't get me wrong - I'm glad that you are doing actual improvements after so long (timing straps for gddr5 nvidia)! Just as it is such a new thing for general public it may need more ... support? Smiley

Who achieved what speed on the claymore 14.5 on maps 1060 6gg (Samsung, micron).
I have Samsung GPU0 26.806 Mh / s, GPU1 27.239 Mh / s, GPU2 26.377 Mh / s, GPU3 27.224 Mh / s, GPU4 27.171 Mh / s, micron GPU5 26.300 Mh / s, -strap 1 -sintensity 80
PO, core 1480, memory 4644-4706-4551-4704-4698 micron 4532, curvia 812v, PL80, firewood 391.24. (On new ones, the speed is 1-1.5 Mh / s lower). Who will share their settings.

Microns strap 1,100 - 25.6 on best cards (+640mem), while keeping <70w per card (by undervolting, but I guess it is now equal to PL70).  Drivers: somee recent ones, i think 430something
Did not get to samsung jet as I still have lot of stability problems.

Do you think, that maybe using PL instead of UV there is better stability with straps?

VFL is always better than powerlimit.

Simplemining just implemented Rxboost on linux  Cool

I am running Rxboost on ethOS (Linux), RX474 32.1mh/s , before 31.4mh/s

Finally got 33 mh/s with RX470 - with rxboost

Ubuntu 18.04, 19.10 - linux driver, use claymore 12.0. I prefer use bios modded cards and not see why realtime straps better, its only additional load time and crash risks on my mind.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5123724.0 -  AMD Mem Tweak - tool, which give same result, as rxboost (see --ref parameter), but i can test result in realtime, without restart miner. I`ve recieve ~+0.4 MH/card (rx480/580) with 10...15 value.

Claymore - best miner for me, for exammle, ethminer take +5 watt on Core (from 65W) with little low HR, but i`m change straps, overclock, underclock and downvolt with scripts, now tune memory. Change straps from miner for save some time with less control and understanding

HiveOs, SimpleMiningOs - just ubuntu based distros, which using tools and scripts, created by other peoples, but have nothing unique. It costs some money, i think only reason - their web interface, but i prefer email and telegram notification (easy create with scripts), remote management via ssh.

Hi everyone!

Correct  me if Im wrong. If i have already modded cards ( modded-straped BIOS), then i should use only -rxboost 1 option, and dont need to use -strap ?

And if Ill use  -strap i will crush the system ?

Best regards.

UPD. How mych speed do you get with rx 474 ?

So what about my question ? Any advice ?

it does not crush, it depends on you, you can use your own straps or claymore's

i am using claymore's. it has a little bit more hashrates

Thanks for info!
Important thing that AMT uses signed ASUS IO driver for it's needs. Claymore uses it's own driver without sign, and this require secure boot disable... Now I will try AMT with Claymore.

I think you should always define what you mean by stable - for me it is at least week without crash due to mem OC. It seem to me that people consider mining for hour or few hours as table, while I know from experience crash can occur even after two days of continuous mining due to high OC.

Anyone test the power consumption difference with "rxboost" command? Also for those who are having trouble keeping it "rxboost" stable on windows, try -rxboost 30 .... seems to be the most stable for Windows and SMOS (rxboost -i 30) rigs without crashing systems. I've attached a chart for a mini farm we operate (SMOS - 4.0 Gh/s), and we noticed a 3.38% overall gain within the farm (approx. 135.74 Mh/s Increase overall). I attached a chart with details.

Again our main concern is power consumption increasing (hopefully decrease?  Cheesy) , as we currently don't have access to power readings due to farm being remotely located. We will test the power levels in person soon, but we would like to know a range for expectation purposes, if anyone already tested.

Chart Showing Gains from 'rxboost -i 30' (SMOS):

https://ibb.co/THyqpGP

Disclosure: Rig 11 and 13 seem to have been 'underclocked' prior so try to refrain from using those as a we also fine tuned some timings on those on top of 'rxboost'

Claymore, would you be able to write some near download links that 14.5 is for windows only and for linux there is v12 ? Cheesy
I get like like 10-15 requestes per day "when i will upload claymore-eth v14.5" and the answer is "there is no v14.5 for linux" Tongue

Something like:

DOWNLOAD LINK
(Windows): v14.x https://mega.nz/#F!O4YA2JgD!n2b4iSHQDruEsYUvTQP5_w
(Linux) latest version is v12.x https://mega.nz/#F!O4YA2JgD!n2b4iSHQDruEsYUvTQP5_w
