Is there now any way to watch mem errors on nvidia? Because straps brought all the pain from amd tuning, but at least amd reports mem errors which helps a lot to make rigs stable. Now I get to wait 20+ hours just to see one gpu in rig fail and try again.

hey try download HWInfo and when its installed scroll down and look for your gpu settings, its at the bottom of the first gpu box.

Is anyone getting lots of hashrate bounces? I don't remember it being soo extreme. Before it used to be something like 30MH/s then maybe a drop to around 26MH/s or so but I am seeing drops down to 18MH/s sometimes. By before, I mean using a custom bios and version 12 of the miner. Watching the voltage and clock speeds it seems to be doing the same thing. Temps bounce between 53C and 57C along with those.

https://imgur.com/a/Vi4gZn0

Attached are a few screenshots

Yes I get these also and I pretty much have been getting them for the last few years of mining ETH with the RX gpus. I have no idea why they happen. At first I assumed it was because the CPU was busy installing some Windows update or something else was running in the background and later it went back to the normal speed, however an hour later for a few seconds the same thing happened.

I tried different motherboards, different CPUs, more RAM, different OSs, different AMD drivers and basically they all get this issue. Sometimes its 1 GPU and sometimes its another GPU in the rig. I find that, usually the slowdown only affects 1 GPU at a time and never more than 1 so I just left it as is. Its only like this for a few seconds and eventually goes back to the full speed.

If anyone has an idea please let me know, however its a minor issue.

So, it looks like the issue was with the Sapphire RX 480 8GB card. I am now using a Sapphire RX580 8GB Special Edition and it's constant. Very little hashrate drop. Side note it's running 33.2MH/s with -strap 1 and -rxboost -1.

Windows 7 x64 + AMD Radeon Driver v19.x + 5xRX470 is it real?
AMD Does not support compute mode on Winows7 driver. So no more mining on Win7 and new drivers.

Correct, you basically either need to upgrade to Windows 10 or Linux. If you really want to mine with Windows 7 then you need to use the blockchain drivers. I tried on a rig and it worked as intended. Basically modded the bios with Pimp my Straps and used the -rxboost and -install option on Claymore and got I think 28.75MH/s using 1126/1950. All with a slight undervolt.

This is only on a rig with 2 GPUs, if you got more than 4 GPUs then you got no choice but to upgrade because from what I recall you can't use more than 4 GPUs. There was a fix for this during the Litecoin mining days of 2014 where you installed a patch, however that patch only worked with older GPUs like R9 280X. Reason why is because it only patched an old AMD drivers version from like 2015, the newer ones were never patched since most people just used Win 10 to mine.

Also support for Win 7 is running out next year, so there will be no more security updates. Its crazy but the OS is already 10 years old.

Patch still worked for me last year with polaris cards, but yeah its best now to stick to win10 or linux.

I have the same issue with 8 out of 10 AMD GPUs on my rig. it just reboots when applying the strap.

also there's still a problem present with P104-100s - they do work with -strap 4 and lowered sintensity, using any other strap leads to instant reboot.

do you remeber the OLD star trek??
when kirk wanted more speed?
the polaris mining community now has "rxboost".
so when i walk into a pub i can say "what class of rig are you flying?"
captain miner says: "polaris defiant 480 class".
then ask "ah but what rxboost factor ?"
captain miner: "my rxboost factor is 46!"
then i nod sagely "hmmm yes those old 480 class mining rigs were always a bit twitchy running a boost factor above 45."

rxboost factor is the best thing ever - thank you claymore

I know I'm annoying, but I have another update...

rx470\570\4gb and rx480\580\4gb with "-rxboost 1" same rate. why?
rx570 was 29.4 now 30.3
rx580 was 30.1 now 30.3

I tested the rxboost and really works well. Some cards easily reach 32mhs however it hangs over a period of time.
Tried it on all 8 of my 12 card AMD rigs and each hangs on intermittent times.

Going to give some time for dev to get miner stable.

Great job so far.

Miner is stable, you should play with "-rxboost" option to find stable values for your cards.

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.

I will look into it, just very time consuming with so many rigs. Thanks for tip.

Simplemining just implemented Rxboost on linux  Cool

It's rather simple adjustment that I discovered a few days ago, so it's easy to clone it Smiley It works for old AMD cards too, so "-rxboost" option will also support old cards in next update.
The real magic is to apply straps on latest Nvidia (Turing), Nvidia protected these cards from such tricks, I have a solution for it too, but need some time to implement it properly before including into miner.

It increases refresh interval: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_refresh
This setting is not included in AMD straps so you cannot change it with straps.

my tests Claymore v14.4
1050 Ti ~ 17.7 strap 5
1060 6Gb ~ 26.5 to 27.6 strap 1 (depends on card)
1070 ~ 33.5 to 34.7 strap 1 (depends on card)
1080 ~ 44.3 strap 2 (without pill)

My memory-overclocked, Samsung/Micron-mix of 1070s run at 33Mh/s per GPU without straps. Are straps going to increase that hash rate substantially?
