Avalon mini improved system heat dissipation (add aluminum platen and high speed fan) and DC-DC module (2 * HI-MOSFET). the chips operate stable under 375 MHz and still have some upside potential.
the miner count is a small bug here. if reduce the miner count to 16, the overall speed will reduce to about half(30-40GHs), this is a FPGA controller bug. so just maintain the miner count to 24 is ok.
we did a 36 hours burn-in test before shipment, which guarantee the minis is OK when we ship them. but during transportation, the vibrations will also cause some hardware problem when you received them. if you have some issues, please check all cables are fastened.
ngzhang, One of mine arrived and right out of the box it does 49GH instead of 60GH. Anything I can do to fix that? I have emailed tech support and they said upgrade firmware but that didn't help. I have another that will not work for long at room temperature (Max 10 minutes). I have to keep it in an area that is about 12C or it will fail to a solid yellow light instead of the blinking yellow light. Fan seems to be working correctly. Any suggestions to fix these issues would be greatly appreciated. These were problems right out of the box. You should really just email suppor@avalon-asic.com (sp?) instead of asking him here. If you read his tag it says he doesn't answer support questions. I would for argument sake re-flash your mini with CK's firmware, backup your settings first but remove the check box to keep settings before you select the firmware you want to flash. You will have to setup your computer or laptop to the default subnet so you can access the mini once you his the proceed button. And give it a try to see if that fixes the issues your having before you go and restore your settings that you backed up. My mini and others use the exermax 850w Gold PSU. So the mini will run at 400Mhz, this brings my GH/s up to 61 ~ 63GH/s. Previously it was sitting around 55~59GH/s. I have 20130821 installed. I will try the restore and clear all settings tomorrow. I have asked support. No reply as of yet (49GH rig). I have not emailed them about the rig that stops hashing all together. Thanks for the suggestions.

The sweet spot seems to be in the 390-400 range for most units, I've got 10 units and most of them start getting high HW rates in this range. Got 1 champion that can manage 400 with super low HW but that one seems to be the odd one of the bunch.
Also got one of these problem units that refuses to go over 50ish GH/s at stock freq, going to take a look at it and try to isolate what the problem is when I've got time during the weekend.

Long time Avalon owner. Always had an issue on my Batch 2/3 4 module where if I oc'd too much I would get a decrease in GH eventually (sometimes 20-40%). Run those @ 335 (auto 325-335) 24/7 around 107GH and they maybe restart cgminer once or twice a week but never slow down. Really loved the 20130821 firmware. So I now have 7 minis running (stock 20130723), and let me tell you now 2-3 of them have so far had this issue where they slow down to under 30GH as low as 4GH or so? GAH! Changed the worst two to 20130821 and will see. However I am disappointed, it appears the --avalon-auto option doesn't work? (currently set 350 clock on page with these options: --quiet --avalon-auto --avalon-temp 50 --avalon-cutoff 70 --avalon-freq 350-375 ) < Those settings never show above 350 on the status page. Setting 375 manually works. put a sheduled task to restart cgminer, hash is same, hw error increases. i had same issue, after restarting cgminer every 4 hrs untouched for weeks, and constant max..

Just got an Avalon Mini.

Its supposed to do 60GH but I am only getting 49 to 50GH.
The other ones I have do 60.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Are you going to build replacement blades for existing Avalon B1/B2/B3 units to "upgrade" them to the new technology? Thanks! spiccioli no official upgrade plans "now", but build a 55nm module and install it into old batch1234 machines is totally possible. lets see if there are some 3rd party done the job. about 55nm chips, why not just browse our git ? many document already uploaded. we also shipped hundreds of sample chips already . batch chips will available (ship in 2-3 business days form Hong Kong when ordered (thank God there will be no custom issues any more))at a reasonable price in a few days.

ngzhang, is the contest still open? I just filled out the form yesterday as a didn't notice it until now (too busy with my BFL design to spend much other time around here), but I am interested in doing a design based on the new chips.

[/code] I would try downgrading the firmware on your mini to either the previous Avalon version or the latest CK version. I have seen a few posts here were people haven't been too pleased with the latest Avalon firmware release they have have downgraded the firmware.

One of mine arrived and right out of the box it does 49GH instead of 60GH.
Logs please.
