1821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Influence of "Paid" Streamers on Online gambling..... on: August 19, 2022, 05:09:49 PM
This actually depends on the streamer if they are affiliated with the said gambling website.

I remember back in the days, various YouTubers streamed and advertised a specific gambling website. But in reality, they were affiliated and had a stake on it. The owner of the website also seemed to provide him with limitless funds in order to deceive the public into showing that the chances of winning are high.

Though this might be the case, there are only a few streamers who actually gamble using their own funds. I think this is a case where a streamer just enjoys the act of gambling. He does not care whether the company chooses to pay him to advertise or not; what matters is that he/she gambles.
1822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking profits vs holding long term? on: August 19, 2022, 04:29:59 PM
Have been involved with Crypto 6 months now and my portfolio is now only 20% down due to this run we are currently going through.

My main position is 55% in profit and I have been debating if I should take some to then buy back lower when we experience our next crash.

Just wondering what everyone else does? Do you take profits along the way and if so at what point? Or do you just invest to hold long term?

When I first started 6 months ago I had the intention of just buying and waiting 2-3 years till our next bull run to cash out but lately I have been thinking if I can also make money along the way then that would be even better.

This actually depends on your ultimate goal- are you willing to continue the risk of HODLing or are you willing to accept the risk and convert such to cash for liquidity?

But in all honesty, this must entirely depend on your profit threshold. As a general rule, you must at least recover the amount of initial investment that you made. Once you have recovered the price, then it is up to you if you want to continue HODLing or if you want to take those short-term profits and invest more in the process.
1823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What your ideas about bitcoin adoption in the future? on: August 19, 2022, 02:43:05 PM
I am still very new to the bitcoin world and of course there are many questions I still need to ask this community about bitcoin to clear up any confusion.

Bitcoin is a new type of currency that is constantly evolving. Many new ideas about its use as a means of payment will be discovered and perhaps this revolution will continue to escalate. Here in my country bitcoin is not a legal tender, but I know that some of you may have used it as a means of payment for goods or services. As for new ideas, I think of a few but the fact doesn't directly allow me to legally adopt them as doing so would be against the law. How about you, do you have any good ideas for future bitcoin adoption?

The beauty behind BTC's technology is the power of the blockchain to create a public spreadsheet where it contains permanent information that people cannot change. Once you have this technology, you can adopt it to various services and products. For example, if you scan a fruit in the supermarket, its full database containing all the processes that it undergo will reflect. This will give you an idea if the fruit that you just bought is safe from all the harmful fertilizers or if the farmers handled it with care.

The example that I provided above is just one out of the many things that the blockchain technology can do.
1824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you use Bitcoin? on: August 18, 2022, 06:57:09 PM
I'm just curious to know how often people on the forum make BTC transactions.

Feel free to expand on your answer below, should you desire.

Please vote honestly, thanks.

Fortunately and unfortunately, my local exchange offers various services and convenience where I can convert my BTCs to our local currency. Our local exchange also has the option of paying your bills (with my converted BTCs to cash) or cashing them out to various remittance services. The downside is, this gives somehow removes the opportunity of having to save my BTCs for long-term due to the convenience of converting them to cash.

Due to this, I mostly spend my BTCs at least once to twice a month depending on my own needs or my family's. I mostly spend my BTCs in purchasing books and educational materials for my brothers since having a single dad raising 4 brothers and a sister is relatively difficult.
1825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Turn Down Your Old Friend on: August 18, 2022, 04:48:06 PM
THIS IS THE SITUATION: You are undergoing treatment for gambling addiction for two months already and only your family knows it, then one day one of your long-time buddies who you used to accompany to gamble in casinos wants to treat you for a night in a casino, and you have not seen each other for a very long time and he just want to reminisce old times.
Will you turn him down or agree to go to the casino for old time's sake.

It depends on my current situation but most likely, I would turn down his offer.

Imagine being treated for only two (2) months from gambling addiction. This part is very crucial given the fact that the withdrawal symptoms would kick in. I should refuse any temptation that would let me doubt my decision from undergoing rehabilitation in the first place. Even if my friend used to accompany me during my gambling days, he should know that being treated for addiction is a serious matter that he should respect.

Regardless of what my friend would feel, I would turn down his offer and focus on my self-development and growth. Like the famous said, prevention is always better than cure!
1826  Other / Off-topic / Re: How Do You Think About UFO Catcher? on: August 18, 2022, 03:45:19 PM
There are tons of claw machines (UFO Catcher) in the Philippines. They are easily accessible in arcade places which are visited generally by kids and young adults which can be found on almost every mall. Unfortunately, the game is somehow rigged in a way that the claw is slippery and the spring of the claw is quite impactful. T

I tried playing this several times and I never won a prize. There were also times where I would get the doll but as soon as the claw pulls its string back, the impact would cause the doll to fall. This somehow gives me the false impression that I have to try and try again to win the prize.

1828  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How to protect yourself from fake giveaways. on: August 15, 2022, 05:12:55 PM
Lol, all these giveaways makes make smile when I come across then mostly on Twitter, and it's shocking that people still fall for such scams, this isn't one of the way I've lose money in crypto space and it's never going to be because I don't believe in free things.

Like what @Smartvirus mentioned, you have to remain vigilant and responsible every single time.

Remember that there are no free things in this world- everything has a price. If something is given free, expect that it has something to be returned as well. Given the fact that there are lots of fake giveaways circulating around various social media platforms, those type of notices should spark a red flag against them. Never believe giveaways unless you can accurately tell (by doing research, etc.) that what they do is genuine.
1829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educating people on Bitcoin for free on: August 15, 2022, 05:02:37 PM
Along with the teaching about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, it is always good to teach them with the real life usage of cryptocurrencies. Because, people doesn't know for what purpose this is being used and it's real potential. Rather than the usage of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, the technology is getting used in every sector. Those things will make them know about the technology as well, than just finding it a financial product.
Teaching people Bitcoin is good but one thing i noticed concerning them. Cryptocurrency is free through teaching of people and i have never seen anybody who learn cryptocurrency with money, because i have the knowledge that Bitcoin education always be free. But some people think that you most spead money before understanding the picture of cryptocurrency and the rules and regulations of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin in the country i can from is free

I do think it is more on the interest of people in knowing what cryptocurrencies (or Bitcoin) is all about.

The problem with cryptocurrencies stem from its relatively technical aspect where it can be difficult to explain it in layman's terms to a normal crowd. But once they show interest over the subject, this willingness to learn will drive their motivation to study and find out more about Bitcoin.

This kind of scenario is what is currently happening over the years ever since Bitcoin started to exist. There are countries who start using it as their legal tender; while there are also countries who prohibit the utlization of such.

1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: August 15, 2022, 03:48:39 PM
I agree that some people are simply born different
but I also think that anyone can become a GM with enough training and dedication!
I've seen GMs that started at an young age and after 10+ years became grand masters
so, it's probably possible.

Oh yea it is definitely possible with enough training and dedication! The problem is, your journey would take so much time compared to these natural-talented and hardworking GMs that are just built specifically for chess.

As someone who has been playing this game for years, I am proud to say that I only reached a peak rating of 1300. It is so difficult analyzing games and remembering lines due to the sheer amount of information that you have to digest and know at the same time; and oh, don't even mention about endgame techniques as that kind of preparation and mastery is another world to live for.
1832  Economy / Gambling / Re: Poker tournaments why tournaments in other games on: August 15, 2022, 01:04:15 PM
A lot of poker game tournaments have been announced on this board over time, and am I kind of wondering what makes poker games so inclined to the tournament and we don't see such competitions being announced for other games?

I do think that it is highly because of the nature of the game itself.

Unlike other card games such as blackjack, etc., they fairly end quickly and the process is relatively simple compared to the techniques involved in poker. In addition, poker is one of those card games that mix luck, skill, and technique in order for you to win the game. Either you win due to the overwhelming card quality that you have on the pool, or because you bluffed the opponent even if your hand is bad.

1834  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Looking for 0.026 BTC Loan on: August 15, 2022, 03:50:37 AM
Have you tried posting your loan request to other international lenders?

To be honest, wala din kasi akong experience sa binance kaya medyo nag hehesitate ako pero I watched some videos on how p2p works sa website. Siguro, mag hintay muna ako within the day and if ever unavailable, mag reach out ako sa international lenders.

Thank you, Maus!
1835  Economy / Economics / Re: Why aren't people utilising cryptocurrency payment methods? on: August 14, 2022, 11:46:00 PM
Why aren't people utilising cryptocurrency payment methods? Without it, the adoption would never be able to realise its full potential.
.....
So, do you use cryptocurrency or crypto cards? What are your thoughts on it if you use it? If not, what's the deal?

I think this has something to do with the mindset of the public against cryptocurrencies as a whole.

Unfortunately, majority of the people view cryptocurrencies as a way of a scam due to the media on how it stigmatized its usage over the years. People also associate it in dealings with contrabands and illegal stuff, in which why they see that whenever you transact using cryptocurrencies, they have this fear that the government would held them liable.

Though that might be the case, over the years, the usage of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment has been slowly evolving. More and more countries accept its utlization and understand its long-term positive effects on the economy.
1836  Local / Pamilihan / Looking for 0.026 BTC Loan on: August 14, 2022, 06:31:22 PM
Good day!

I am looking for a non-collateral loan of 0.026 BTC or p35,000 which is to be paid within 3-4 months.

I can pay the loan either weekly/monthly basis pero ang limitation ko lang is I have to receive it sa GCash/bank account ko sana. Since coins.ph limited my withdrawal limits to p25,000 monthly, I can only deposit/withdraw as much kaya preferably sa GCash/bank account ko sana marereceive yung amount.

To reiterate, this will be a non-collateral loan which I will be paying within 3-4 months since I have to purchase a brand-new laptop for my online classes this semester!

*EDITED: interest rate and total repayment would be p40,000.
1837  Economy / Gambling / Re: DUELBITS ASK FOR KYC WHEN YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW YOUR EARNED PROFITS on: August 14, 2022, 06:10:51 PM
DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON DUELBITS IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE ASKED FOR KYC AT THE TIME YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW

THEY LET YOU CREATE ACCOUNT... DEPOSIT... BET... NO SIGN OF KYC ANYWHERE... UNTIL YOU WANT TO WITHDRAW YOUR FUNDS

Every gambling website has their respective TOS where you are free whether to abide or to choose another casino to your liking. Asking for KYC documents is something that is normal among gambling websites as this complies with the regulations and laws of their country if they want to continue their license operational.

You are claiming that Duelbits is asking KYC before you withdraw your funds. I think this is fairly common and I do not see a problem with this. Again, you are arguing against one of the most reputable and trusted gambling casino in the internet right now. From its years of operations, I have not seen a person complained of a problem that you are barking on- so I guess you are either a troll and/or someone who is blatantly ruining their reputation.
1838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 year of accepting crypto payment in my fashion store on: August 14, 2022, 05:48:48 PM
.....
Advice

You don't have to know everything to begin, just start. When I started, I used electrum wallet to receive payments. Then I got to know about lightning network, which I adopted. I have recently become acquainted with a crypto exchange in Nigeria. I'm considering a deal to create a merchant account with them as a payment gateway.

First and foremost, I want to congratulate you OP for your very inspiring journey! I also find it very amusing that most people from Africa have started adopting BTC as a form of alternative currency in payments of services and products. These types of ventures are what creates a positive image on the view of people on BTC.

In addition, it is actually great that you adopted lightning network to your process as it takes a relatively faster amount of time processing, unlike traditional exchanges. One thing that I struggle with is the amount of confirmation needed in order for payments to be processed in the blockchain. With this alternative, not only does it make it efficient, but it is actually more faster in receiving and sending payments.
1839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Problem Gambler Feels After Losing on: August 14, 2022, 05:27:10 PM
Now must of the people addicted in gambling . Especially young boys are more addicted to gambling. And now with the introduction of online casinos, everyone can play gambling from the comfort of their home . For this the influence of gambling is increasing day by day. When someone loses gambling and loses his money.  Then they try hard to recover that loss.  And they cannot quit their gambling addiction.  And keep losing more and more money.  Eventually they lost everything.

Well, this is a bit of a stretch but the conclusion that you made happens to some of the gamblers who consistently lose their control over their expenses.

The problem of gambling stems from its very nature- the 'high-risk, high-reward' type of scheme. People would constantly gamble away their resources in order to expect the hope of winning the jackpot, thus multiplying their initial bet. While this may seem attractive, most of the gamblers lose their way and eventually exhaust all of their resources without even winning the jackpot.

What most gamblers feel after they lose is that they either: (1) gamble again and hope that they would win this time; or (2) stop and call it a day.
1840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CHINA is against the crypto But JAPAN is Supporting crypto echo system . on: August 13, 2022, 11:02:54 PM
China is a big contributor to bitcoin during the beginning days. Japan is highly technology advanced and the government believed in cardless transaction and the same made bitcoin as a transaction medium. China always want things to be separate for them, and as a result China have made cryptocurrency ban and Japan have legalized the usage.

Japan is one of the country in which government supported the cryptocurrency acceptance and the government itself announced people to learn better about the different subject.

I do agree with your statement.

The Chinese government, as a communist, wants control over their resources, technology, and economy. The fact that lots of Chinese miners started the trend of BTC mining was a threat viewed by their government due to the freedom BTC provided. Due to this, they implemented stringent regulations to the point that it ultimately prohibited cryptocurrencies in their country.

Japan, a country known for its technological advancement, is taking advantage of cryptocurrencies by its lenient regulations. They allow its utilization as they see its value in the long-term standard of payment.
