what do you mean explode? if the benchmark wont work i doubt it will mine.
bare in mind that my cpu will mine at over 7Mhash/s, and my GPU is 174Mhash/s

unless cgminer really works it wont compete when by myself i will hash at 184Mhash/s
and this is with only 24 hours for christian to get code done

Looks like cudaMiner will have some competition at launch, they just posted a cgminer on the maxcoin github. I can't tell if it works or not, trying benchmark makes it explode. Would like to compare against cudaMiner.

Yay, arms race!

I have a GTX480 -- so far I have been very unlucky about mining all the scrypt coins with this Nvidia card. But tonight I'm hoping to make up for all the losses by using your Cudaminer on keccak Maxcoin.  Finally, there's fairness in this world!

Will we have a working Windows 7 version and instructions in time for MaxCoin launch???  And where is the link where it will be (or already is) available for download?

the github code now has versions of keccak specifically compiled for compute_30 and compute_35.
Compilation tested only on Linux so far.

I know only tested on Linux, but wanted to report back on Windows compile. Getting these errors:

Code:
CudaBuild:
  Compiling CUDA source file nv_kernel.cu...

Build FAILED.

Time Elapsed 00:00:58.46
========== Build: 0 succeeded, 2 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

moving the #include <map> to the top of the file seems to have helped

solo for sure, btw for anyone that wants it, they just posted the link to their cpu miner
https://github.com/Max-Coin/cpuminer

do you want to check its the same as you have been working off christian? you never know if they changed something after all the up raw from ATI

christian has said he is working on the code and an official release will be out at 7pm gmt, so he will most likely get it working where it can be tested, then fix the issues before the release time

Definitely differences in maxcoin.c. Not sure what ramifications though.

i had a feeling there would be a difference but i don't think they can change it much as it is still using SHA3

Looks like cudaMiner will have some competition at launch, they just posted a cgminer on the maxcoin github.

From their cgminer readme:
Quote
This is a work-in-progress version of cgminer for MaxCoin, including everything we have done so far. Feel free to continue development and push those changes in order to help create a working fork of cgminer.

Doesn't sound like too hard a competition, does it?

Well damn me, I only got an AMD card Sad
Now - this makes the launch not fair at all anymore

From reddit - AMD user using the word "fair" when the competition is getting started. Hilarious.

You're going solo on this one? Doesn't Maxcoin retarget after every block? Wouldn' the difficulty go up really quickly?
