1921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling in Moderation, Pros can out weigh its Cons in Financial and Health? on: July 21, 2022, 11:05:43 PM
This is an interesting article- most of the time we associate and perceive gambling addiction as something negative. But with the article you posted, there are at least, some positive effects of gambling when done in moderation. I guess, we often times overlook the things that give us positive effects when done in moderation.

Though I am curious- is gambling done in moderation considered also an addiction? I mean, if something is done consistently, will that tantamount and equate to addiction? I just hope that the fact that gambling in moderation can bring positive results, this does not rationalize and advocate gambling in general.
1922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Casino tokens such as BFG, OWL or TFS on: July 20, 2022, 11:34:51 PM
Wouldn't really consider those tokens on the same level or at least attribute the market that they have as the same as the market of Bitcoin. Those tokens are for casinos after all, and the market that they have is rather different from the investors and users of Bitcoin, not to mention that they're relatively less known compared to the big tokens. There's also the possibility that it's artificially manipulated since it's much easier to control the market for these kinds of tokens imo.

Plus, the token seems to be used on the casino itself for benefits, so that may be a reason for the increase in price, though it may just be temporary in the end due to a temporary increase in the amount of players/users.

This makes sense- these tokens were primarily created by the gambling institution itself, so they are indeed in the risk of price/supply manipulation.

The difference between cryptocurrencies and casino tokens is that, the price is primarily determined by the supply/demand. The more people that use these currencies, the more the prices may increase/decrease, though the former is much more volatile compared to the latter. But you are right, they are subject to the risk of price manipulation since the one in control is the casino owner, himself.

I guess even if the prices of casino tokes kept on increasing, they are still entirely different from cryptocurrencies as a whole.
1923  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FBI warns about Fraudulent Cryptocurrency Investments on: July 20, 2022, 11:00:00 PM
So the FBI is warning people concerning cryptocurrency scams. They're only like, what? 5 years late? Thanks Mr. policeman, very cool.

Those of us in this world know that there is a lot of scamming going on and I don't think this FBI warning is going to make much difference. Maybe it will appear in the mainstream media in the news or some information programs, but I don't think it's going to put the average user on high alert about these things.

They might as well include the crap site 1xBit while they are at it.

This is actually funny- I think they have been silent all this long but when cryptocurrencies are slowly becoming relevant, they show their faces, huh?

I just hope that their initiative will not be limited to only "warnings" issued by them. If they really see the effects of cryptocurrency scamming, I hope some sort of initiative and action would come from them to resolve this problem in this field. The more they try to avoid or to act like nothing, then nothing would happen in this space.
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid loan apps, a word of advice. on: July 20, 2022, 10:31:05 PM
In all, I advice that we should try to avoid any business with loan apps as they seem to be very numerous these days and are easily accessible. Most importantly, You should know that you are at the danger of developing a habit of borrowing from them if you patronise loan apps even for the smallest amount.

Like someone mentioned in the comments, I think you are talking about payday loans.

I remember a toxic experience back then when my uncle used my name and contact information, without my consent, and put me as his referral and as a guarantor. Obviously, when these people called me in order to settle the loan, I declined and told them that this was taken without any of my consent. Unfortunately, they proceeded to call the other referrals (which was my family members) in order to settle the loan that my uncle got.

These people would take measures in order for the debtor to pay. They will non-stop call you for like 3-5 times/day just for you to be annoyed but who would blame them?
1925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: July 20, 2022, 05:24:56 PM
yes, maybe Carlsen level is so much higher than other players that he doesn't want to spend so much time to prepare for a world championship again since it takes a long time and a lot of effort

what do you all think?

With the recent announcement that Magnus Carlsen will not participate in this year's candidates tournament, I think I somehow respect his decision. According to Magnus, here is what he mentioned:

Quote
I have informed my team, FIDE and Jan that I will not play the upcoming World Cup match in long chess, says Carlsen and adds that "I am not motivated to play another World Cup match".

I do think that Magnus does not have to prove to anyone anymore. Everyone knows that he is indeed, the best living chess player that everyone has seen. The fact that he will be facing Nepo once again this candidates just gave him no motivation at all. Remember that the preparation that these GMs undergo is seemingly impossible to imagine, with all the stress and memory that they have to master.
1926  Economy / Gambling / Re: A New Era for Betting - (After Corona Circumstances) on: July 20, 2022, 05:19:45 PM
Same experience here. But I think MMA and Boxing is the most affected by this pandemic since watching 2 man fighting without an audience cheering feels like just a sparring match because the fight is not lively as it was supposed to be. Atleast on football and other sports, They a team to play with while on fighting spots, The 2 players is only in the ring with just the referee in the middle. Very boring to watch to be honest.

Actaully, in terms of damage control, MMA and Boxing didn't come to Football, Basketall and other sports that require more than two player, I know that it require just a single person to start a turnament in boxing but if you compare it to other sporting activities, it is very easy to handle when a single player becomes corona positive and quickly evacuate and quarantine than when a single player that is in the mix of 11 players, football requires you to attack an opponent which brings you too expose to other players.
At the beginning of the corona there was no interruption in sports but when it became a pandemic, all sports were stopped.

There was a kind of irritation among the people due to not playing for a long time. But whenever the corona virus pandemic was in under control, the trend of the game increased a lot. After pandemic, there has been a huge change in sports, especially in gambling. Now most of the gamblers are gambling in online. Which gives the gambler many advantages. Comparatively the gambling market increase from all aspects after Corona circumstance.

I agree with your statement.

With almost everyone missing on sports action, most sports teams had to adjust their ways and change their system in order to integrate a new way in approaching their respective sports, while maintaining physical distancing due to the dangers of the virus. I remember back in 2020, the NBA was able to cast their games but this required very stringent rules on the players and on the teams about quarantine.

Now that most sports have been given the green signal to participate, this brought the interest of everyone again. Thus, increasing more gamblers in the process due to the long hiatus when the pandemic happened.
1927  Economy / Gambling / Re: Good gambling tipster on: July 19, 2022, 11:13:41 PM
Nope, we don't know him. I guess the person on the video is either you or someone you know that you would want to advertise here at the forum.

PS. I don't think is that great for me to be convinced to bet on GSW. Also, I think he is a warriors fans

I partially agree with your statement.

It is somehow obvious that OP is at least attempting to spread someone's image to boost its viewers or to at least be in contact with the guy. Like you mentioned, it is someone OP personally knows or has interest in, that is why he is trying to spread his image.

Though I may be rooting for GSW during the whole playoffs, their performance speaks for themselves. They are the primary contenders for the title (even before they won this year's playoffs) and by basing it primarily on their stats, they are superior compared to any other team in the NBA right now.
1928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why some promising newbies fail in the forum. on: July 19, 2022, 11:01:00 PM
I really appreciate this thread. Every point you made seems valid and it would be very helpful to newbies. I want to add that one of the reasons why newbies fail is because some of the rules in this forum are unwritten and the written ones are not in a single document. You would find these rules in different thread discussions. Locating these rules sometimes is very difficult and complicated. Most times these newbies are unaware of some rules which make them victims since ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
Good to understand your view about this. But to say and as I always say, there are no strong rules in this forum. Anyone who doesn't intend to cheat and who has good morales will be successful in this forum. Plagiarism is not acceptable and Plagiarism is the highest rule I have seen in the forum.

Saying that there is not single thread of rules, if you can be able to read this Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ, you are good to go.

I think the 'strong rules' in this forum are the ones that are obvious and unspoken, like the natural laws of life. If you think that you are cheating your way in the system by plagiarizing or spamming, then you are putting yourself in a situation where your future is guaranteed- which is to be banned by the moderators.

Most of the problems of newbies stem from the fact that they visit this forum with only one thing in their minds- which is to earn profit. While this kind of mindset is not entirely negative and bad, what makes it worse for newbies is they fail to contribute to this forum which only leads to a number of spams.
1929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin manage to grow over time? on: July 19, 2022, 10:30:00 PM
The news does well to draw in new people every time we're near a block halving (either by people getting excited about the halving or because the price has grown well).

A lot of returners probably sit on the sidelines to watch, wait and probably buy and hold a bit. With each halving comes new news about the inflation in bitcoin being reduced and by the next halving it'll be lower than most if not all fiat currencies.

I definitely agree with your statement.

With the popularity of cryptocurrencies attracting more and more people investing, the supply and demand primarily dictates its price on the market. When BTC halving occurs, the denomination of it being distributed is lower allowing its price to further increase in the market. As far as I know, the next halving will happen this 2024, which somehow implies that its price may skyrocket once again.
1930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale Betting Strategy on BlackJack, how effective it is? on: July 19, 2022, 10:13:50 PM
Every time I hear someone suggesting the Martingale strategy, it implies that the person must have a huge capital at his disposal. The good thing about it implementing and integrating it into BlackJack is that, by odds, the Martingale strategy can pay itself in the process. As you bet more in BlackJack, the chances of a person winning and getting a favorable hand increases during the process which makes this strategy fairly effective.

The only problem that I see in this strategy is that, the odds may also be against your favor which may result into using large and large amounts of capital. The more you lose, the bigger the capital that you use in this strategy which makes this not beginner and newbie friendly to all.
1931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's so hard to rank-up? on: July 16, 2022, 11:59:34 PM
To cut this story short, if you really want to rank up and have a good reputation just do the opposite, stay active, learn more and expect nothing.
These are my mistakes, and I hope you won't do the same so you can be more successful here. Right now, I'm only learning with my experience and hopefully I can give something more helpful in the future.

I think the best thing is that you should always expect nothing in return, yet you feel satisfied in contributing to the whole forum. It is like a real-life donation, you give everything but expect nothing in return. If you see someone returned the favor, then you will feel as if you did everything you could which is more satisfying.

The problem with most newbies is that they see this forum 'purely' as a way to earn. While that may be true enough, they fail to see the bigger picture and the purpose on why Satoshi created this forum in the first place- which is to discuss BTC!
1932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: July 16, 2022, 11:56:48 PM
There are many free trusted bots such as seuntji bots and mydicebot, it does not cost you anything to use them. You can even create your own bots if you have the skills, so I have no idea which bots that cost you some money to use them. Bots has nothing to do with winning or losing, it is all about extra features where you cant find in the casino. I'm not surprised why there are people who like to use bots, because they like it for some reasons mostly because of its extra feature and speed.

I think it has something to do with bots being associated with cost that people fail to realize that they can create one. The beauty behind these bots is that you can set the parameters on the minimum/maximum bets you can put and automatically use it to save yourself some time. Technically, gambling bots are used mostly by gamblers who are profit-driven since they let the bots gamble for them.

Gambling bots should be beneficial but it carries a lot of risk to the gambler himself since the latter does not personally see what is happening on the game.
1933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This clearly damage the gambling. on: July 16, 2022, 11:52:49 PM
Well i cant put more words, the video says it all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsB15QKz9No&ab_channel=EBDSports

I really think this damage the trust in the sports bets , or anything related to the sport gambling, i know a lot can say its a kind of protest but still really unclear.

Oh this is just heartbreaking to see if you are a fan of sportsbook gambling. These types of games should be avoided at all cost and these players and teams should be held accountable for game fixing. Though one may argue that the shot was poorly made, but at that level of competition, those players are expected to hit those shots 99% of the time, let alone at least touch the rim or be close to the net as possible.

The difference is, that shot was so far ahead that it looked like he intentionally wanted to miss it. These kinds of corruption damage the reputation of sports and also be prejudicial in some sportsbook gambling.
1934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Fengshui on: July 16, 2022, 05:42:22 PM
How about you? Do you have Fengshui practice that you're observing when you are about to play or while playing

Nope and I have not encountered any person practicing or linking fengshui in gambling.

Gamblers and some casual players always have their lucky charm or mantra before they gamble. They tend to believe that by doing something, this will bring them some sort of good luck that will turn the odds on their favour. While this kind of practice may look outrageous, this actually helps them in easing their anxiety and giving them the push to gamble and to be fearless on their odds.

Though that may be the case, doing any some sort of fengshui to rely on one's luck should be at least avoided especially if you primarily gamble for profit. While these beliefs may have no effect or anything whatsoever on the odds, this would only help the gambler to gamble more in the process.
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The number of hodlers on: July 16, 2022, 11:30:06 AM
Although the on-chain indicators point towards the worst-ever BTC bearish market, they also underscore the increasing resilence of hodlers.

The number of hodlers not selling ever under extreme market conditions has become higher than in previous bearish markets.

I think this has something to do with the fact that the price of BTC reached an ATH last year around $60,000 on the market.

Given the wide array of knowledge spread across the globe, at least almost everyone knows about the price history index of BTC over the years. With that hope in mind, majority of the BTC HODLers (including myself) rely on the hope that its price will recover sooner or later, though no one knows when.

Also, there is nothing much to do in this bearish market. If you sell your BTCs, then you lose majority of your investments. If you actually HODL, then you run in to the risk of its price decreasing. But the fact that it reached an ATH last year means that its price may potentially recover.
1936  Economy / Economics / Re: The BTC price must stabilize in the long run. on: July 15, 2022, 11:59:08 PM
Only when it's more regulated and the adoption gets bigger will the market will be stabilized.

With lack of regulation, these whales will try to manipulate the market for them to gain from the ignorance of some investors, especially the newbies who easily get panic when the price dump, so as long as they will not learn from their mistake, these manipulators will continue to take advantage.

However, if the government will come into play, I think that's where the market will become less volatile until it will achieve stability.

Regulation comes stablization but is price would be more 'controlled' in a way that it defeats volatility. I mean, the aspect of volatility is what most investors purchase BTC in the process. In the event that this happens, then what would be the difference of investing in BTC compared to investing in other instruments as well? But this kind of argument falls short when you look it purely on an investment perspective as BTC is more than just an investment.

Though this may be the case, but I think this is the only remedy if we truly want to see BTC being adopted globally and being accepted as an alternative currency. Even if China has recently ban its utilization, we may see a revival if this where to happen.
1937  Economy / Gambling / Re: A New Era for Betting - (After Corona Circumstances) on: July 15, 2022, 11:50:46 PM
Considering the time when they played in empty stadiums and then how people were allowed with masks and vaccinations as well I do think that we have come a really long way.

The whole idea is making sure that people do not spread the virus but at the same time there are countries like the UK where it's spreading tremendously but they are still having matches normally, The epidemic have improved the sanitation and provided a new era for gambling and betting undoubtedly.

I do think we are as close as we are going to get to normality but the online betting sites are an excellent alternative to in-person bettering especially concerning with sports betting as well. They provide more offers, have more practical applications and at the same time have better winning percentages in certain areas, what not to love?

There has to be some sort of balance in this kind of setting where businesses and football teams must attract more audiences while respecting the parameters set by the pandemic. This is one of the struggles of most business, in general, as this pandemic proved that the latter may operate in an online scale, rather than having their operations physically.

While this may be the case, people are still looking for that kind of excitement that they get on attending stadiums rather than watching it online, and this has taken a significant amount of toll to most football teams. But with viruses becoming more contagious and more mutations/variants have been introduced, I somehow doubt that we will likely return to the normal experience.
1938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin recover even if it fell to one dollar? on: July 15, 2022, 11:43:58 PM
How low would Bitcoin have to fall before it was no longer recoverable?

Price, in my opinion, would not dictate this. It would have to be something that would destroy the foundation and system on which it is built.

what you say?

I guess when BTC falls into a price where it will become obsolete, then no one would ever use it. Though I highly doubt that this will happen, but as long as its nature continues to become decentralized, then we will see its use indefinitely. In addition, as long as governments of countries do not prohibit its utilization and usage, then its price would then increase and increase due to its inflationary nature.

Though I really think that such situation will happen given the fact that BTC has been around for 10+ years now and its trend in its price is to continue to rise up. Though crashes may occur, its price still remains dominant compared to other cryptocurrencies in the market.
1939  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: duelbits.com scam me 16K USD with big proof on: July 15, 2022, 11:24:38 PM
Well now 21 days already gone and still not get my money :-)

It's a pity that this unpleasant story has happened to you over time, I read their tos and there is nothing said about the limits on withdrawal amounts, but at the same time there is a clause about changing the rules at any time, however, if the changes are significant, then they notify about it 14 days before the entry. In your case, Duelbits apparently considered your actions suspicious, but why don't they directly talk about it, why risk your reputation for $16k.
Bro iam even don't know its just 16k this nothing for them idk why ... but i see not just me also few people when have account with green profit they will ask him for KYC and close account

This is actually kinda disappointing given the track record of Duelbits. I personally recommended this casino to most gamblers as its UI and games were properly managed; not to mention, they have an active campaign signature with an excellent campaign manager.

With that being said, $16,000 is a lot of money but I really doubt that they will risk ruining their reputation with that amount. With years and years of brand building, this kind of delay can literally cost them their whole business if not settled within the time. OP, continue to provide us with information regarding your case and if duelbits have already unlocked your funds.
1940  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any Specific Boards for newbies to Make Posts/Comments? on: July 15, 2022, 03:04:24 PM
Based on what I have seen in the forum. There are some Post that I will see some of the boards scared me to make comment, mostly Meta. Because I only see Sr/Hero/legendary members in that board. And some of the threads I saw there are very good for me to at least make a comment but my fear is that, wether is is an offend to do so. So I want to know if I have restrictions on some of the boards to make posts and comments in the forum. And if there is please provide those boards for me so I will be properly guided.

Ahh I somehow understand your frustration since the meta board is predominantly a board consisting about the general improvements about the forum itself. No wonder that most veterans are active there since they are accustomed and open to the idea of any improvements. But hey, this is a forum and any form of opinion is accepted as long as you do not spam and post plagiarized contents!

To answer your question, ask yourself what your goal is. Do you plan on ranking your account; or do you just want to engage into a discussion and share your insights?
If you choose the former, then you can post in any board for as long as you contribute something that is beneficial. If you choose the former, then I suggest delving into topics about the development and technical discussion, mining boards, or the BTC price movement.
