1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My class had their first Bitcoin exercise with my class on: July 14, 2022, 06:59:04 PM
Quite a lot of transformations have happened over time and knowledge about Bitcoin and wallets is needed at an early stage, but also since you did not specify the age level of your students and their grade level we may not see it as necessary for them to make a transaction, giving them the basic knowledge is enough at whatever age so anyone that picks interest may indicate and go further to make a purchase and sending using the electron wallet you thought them.

I do think that exercises like these tend to educate the younger generation- though the topics that were introduced were somehow complex.

I mean, to be honest, I do not even know how to create my own private key, yet these people had the privilege of creating their private key and signing a message! I do also think that opportunities present themselves. These types of exercises, which I frequently see nowadays, are so helpful in the cryptocurrency community that it affects readers like us also.

This somehow gave me the inspiration to take my learnings to the next level. If these people were able to learn and to create their own keys, I think there is no more reason for me not to follow their footsteps. Good job, OP.
1942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino can play a role in changing fortune? on: July 14, 2022, 06:21:49 PM
I think when you keep gambling using borrowed money it's like committing suicide because there is no guarantee you can get a profit from gambling, it's better if you still need money to gamble, then you work and look for money and as much money as possible you use it for gambling. Gambling is not based on debt or the like because when you lose you will lose and be depressed.
It is likely a suicidal attempt, it's a liability if it wouldn't make any profit unless it will turn the table and you hit a jackpot. It's good to gamble as long as you're not going all in and still thinking for yourself, the needs for everyday living and if you have family make sure it's intact until the day you've been compensated again.

More than a suicide attempt, it is actually like a grasp of air, trying to breathe underwater and clinging for hope.

Gambling using funds that came from a loan is a recipe waiting for disaster- you are clinging to something that is already risky in the beginning. In the event that the gambling activity fails and you lost more money in the process, then how would you able to repay the loan? If the loan contract states a contract of guaranty where your assets have to be liquidated, then expect that your assets can be the subject of payment to your debts.
1943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Gambling companies can get more users to deposit. on: July 14, 2022, 05:31:48 PM
This is certainly something that the Gambling companies do have to look into since this will go long way, thus changes needs to be made, What do you think, how important this option is for you?

I think this poll is more focused on the withdrawal options rather than safety- which I think the latter is more important above the rest.

While a wide choices withdrawal options may be the preferred feature in which gambling companies are chosen, personally, I would prefer that such website has an active customer service system where you can instantly get talk to them in case of a problem. With this kind of feature, not only the player is coated with security but it also gives it the peace as it relieves the gambler from anxiety in waiting for the response.
1944  Economy / Gambling / Re: Drake vs Stake part 2 on: July 13, 2022, 10:12:20 PM
I enjoy watching it and I never thought I’m gonna finish the video until the end. Drake bet is so huge but it’s not enough to beat Stake because of max bet and his limited bank roll. There was a time that he was already in profit above 20M but since he keeps betting same amount on each round, He lose over time because of the type of game he keeps betting has a low win rate probability. Glad to watch this video but maybe add the original source of the video as credits.

It is just amazing to see that a celebrity actively endorses a cryptocurrency gambling website. It also shows you the reality of gambling- winning and losing big are the options that a gambler faces especially if they do not stop within a given time.

I wonder how much Stake paid Drake to participate in actively endorsing their website. Given his account, you can actually see his balance on the first few seconds on the video (~$21 million) and I do think that Stake gave at least a percentage of their winnings to Drake for this kind of sponsorship.
1945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People are not only gambling to win but they are buying entertainment on: July 13, 2022, 09:49:12 PM
Many of us here will say that we are gambling for entertainment but this is the same reason why compulsive gamblers put in more money they want to feel high, so if you say I gamble for fun does this mean you admit you are buying entertainment to produce adrenalin and endorphins, so you keep on putting more money to get that feeling regardless if you win or lose.

Actually, people who gamble purely for entertainment is also a problem that most people overlook. Whenever we hear about gambling, we always associate it with the potential profit it may reward a person. Though the risk may be high, but people always look and dream about the amounts of money they would win if they gamble.

What most people fail to realize are the type of gamblers who gamble purely out of entertainment value. These kinds of gamblers have nothing to lose- regardless if they win or lose, what matters to them is to feel the hype and adrenaline due to the feeling of the odds against them.
1946  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You have not lost a dime if your Bitcoin is in your wallet on: July 13, 2022, 09:30:07 PM
No matter what happens, 1 BTC is always going to be 1 BTC regardless of its value. Same as gold, though its price may decrease on the market, it does not change the fact that you still have that piece of precious non-renewable metal at your disposal.

Some people complain that whenever BTC prices decreases, they tend to impulsively sold majority of their BTCs to at least alleviate the damage. But they are missing one important aspect- which is its volatility and inflationary value. HODL is definitely the key if a person wants to maximize their investment value.
1947  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: don't be fooled by titles. on: July 13, 2022, 09:19:31 PM
After reading how a forum user  Almost Gave Scammers Access To his wallet, there is a need to state how important it is not to be deceived or fooled by titles. This is an advice to newbies and some other forum users to not be deceived or fooled by titles. There is a tendency for someone to let his/her guard down when approached or contacted by another person with a title like Chief executive officer(CEO), Managing director(MD), Consultant, Project Manager, Business Development Manager, Investor, Forex trader etc. due to the fact that titles naturally accord respect to the individual who bears them. Do not be deceived, scammers can easily bear these titles to have an advantage over you.

Don't let your guard down.

Just to add some information about your post, I remember there was a person asking this forum if the project that he is potentially investing on is legit. The website was designed generically but there were tons of information available (e.g. whitepaper, team pictures, etc.) which made it look genuine at first.

When I looked into the team pictures, it reflected some images that looked very dubious and sketchy due to face misalignments and disproportionate features (e.g. left nostril looked straight, while the right looked curved, etc.). They also have names which sounded "smart" with matching titles. When I tried reverse-searching the images, nothing reflected but what gave it to me to conclude that it was computer generated was due to the background of the picture.

Normally, computer generated AI images have this some sort of wavy and weird backgrounds that somehow affect the overall features of these people. Again, don't let yourself be fooled just by the fact that people have nice titles, names, and pictures on the internet.
1948  Economy / Economics / Re: The Growth of Bitcoin ATMs by Country on: July 13, 2022, 09:01:04 PM
Currently, the number of Bitcoin ATMs by country can be seen at https://coinatmradar.com/countries/ shows an increase in usage. Will the number increase or decrease due to the impact of the projected global economic recession that will occur in the future??

If I remember correctly, before the pandemic hit, BTC ATMs emerged from the market. Lots of people were able to at least try and convert BTC to cash using those ATMs. But as time passed by, most of these ATMs closed due to people complaining on high transaction fees and device malfunction.

Furthermore, when the pandemic hit, some of these ATMs were closed since not a lot of people were able to utilize this efficient machine to its full potential. But the fact that there is a dedicated website showing the number of ATMs per country is simply amazing to see- hopefully when BTC's price increases, more and more ATMs would be added on the list.
1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most of us have lived a world of USD dominance, but history changes on: July 13, 2022, 08:38:55 PM
Before the USD was accepted as the world currency, there used to be the British Pound as the main currency.

And before that, the Spanish Real.

Those are the latest 3 world currencies. We're about to enter the fourth one, Bitcoin.

It will take some time, but it will happen.

As much as I wanted BTC to be considered as a world currency, I find it impossible for the time being due to its needed massive implementation and inflationary nature.

Imagine, you're strolling on the market only to find out that the prices of goods/commodities are also changing day-by-day. When you have a currency in which its value is extremely volatile, this entails a risk on both the consumer and seller on the pricing of goods. In addition, if BTC were t be implemented as a currency, governments of countries would necessarily and absolutely regulate it to death, thereby potentially losing its decentralized nature.
1950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 13, 2022, 01:39:18 PM
In less than two weeks we can see a crossroad fight between former world champions Adrien Broner and Omar Figueroa. This should be fun to watch as both were entertaining fighters before. AB with his funny antics and trash talks while Figgy's hot sister might attend the press conference, weigh-in, and the fight. This may not be for world title contention but I felt this fight as more alluring than the fake fights of Jake Paul and Mayweather Sr.'s exhibition fights.

I am actually hyped for this- given the downfall of Broner in his career, this might actually be the redemption that he is looking for.

I mean, we all know that AB almost copied his style from Mayweather's technique and skill. His move sets are somehow similar but the execution and punching power is still lacking compared to FM. But to be honest, we cannot deny that AB is still gifted and skillful- it is just that his methods and training consistency fell short when his career boomed.

Nevertheless, I will definitely keep this fight on my radar and watch it. I'll give my honest feedback about the match and see if AB can revive his career and from his slump.
1951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Threshold of Loss in Gambling on: July 13, 2022, 01:11:45 PM
My question is, can you remember a time when you reached your threshold of loss while gambling?

I remember a time where I was around 15-16 years old and crate keys were introduced in Dota 2 back then. When such was introduced, this almost became the main currency of trading rares and items on the game. The process goes like this: a bot will add you and you guys will pay BlackJack via Steam chat. If you win the bet, the bot will automatically trade you the amount that you wagered x2.

Furthermore, I started betting with one key until I was able to profit to at least 30 keys. My loss threshold was around 5 keys but when I started experiencing a losing streak, my keys dropped from 30 to 15 and to 2. I managed to recover from 2 to 16 keys but I did a 50/50 and eventually loss all of my keys in the process.
1952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Telegram Group and new investment plattform on: July 09, 2022, 11:47:09 PM
So guys... what is your opinion regarding this gambling case?  Roll Eyes
Does anyone here you this platform?

When I first saw the title of the thread, I knew that this would involve another telegram group invite where a person would offer some attractive services that will compel you to at least take out some money. Those kinds of schemes are very common nowadays and I highly suggest that you stay away from them due to the fact that they are a scam.

Telegram groups where a person randomly invites you are definitely red-flags for people looking to invest. They will take advantage people and offer them attractive rates that are difficult to refuse. Once you invest money on their project, they will start to siphon most of the capital, which will make you lose money in the long run.
1953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today is the story of my investment in Bitcoin on: July 09, 2022, 11:41:23 PM
I do think that as a rule of thumb, you should never take out a loan and use it on a volatile asset. Due to the nature of loans, they are demandable upon the due date or the maturity of the loan regardless of your financial status. This means that when the maturity date comes, it becomes an absolute obligation on your part to furnish the necessary capital to pay it out.

The reason behind this rule is due to the fact of the nature of cryptocurrencies. No one really knows when their prices will rise especially in this given market. Who know that maybe 5 or even 10 years where the next ATH hits.
1954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: July 09, 2022, 07:40:51 PM
Interesting to see that majority of the poll answered that they are either: (1) casual and social gamblers; and (2) conservative gamblers.

Personally, I only gamble purely out of entertainment or whenever someone forces me to. In the event that I am also in a gambling establishment, I would most likely gamble away only a handful amount of my capital just to personally try and experience the thrill of winning/losing. Regardless of the result, I am satisfied with it since my aim is just to experience and feel the overall vibe on it.

Unlike other gamblers who specifically do such act for profit, they are the ones who are at most risk of suffering from addiction.
1955  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did I just messed up? on: July 09, 2022, 07:21:48 PM
I don't know about the Json file when opening a new crypto wallet until I want to buy a project that runs on a separate standalone network days ago, to cut the story short, the wallet is only available on windows and after opening it gave me recovery seed and it automatically downloads .json file to my PC, this is the problem, I never want to copy or download anything crypto wallet to my PC because I believe writing down my recovery seed is a lot safer but now I got a JSON file

As far as I know, json files are like an extra layer of security on your BTC wallet address as it stores them in an encrypted file which allows users to safely keep their BTCs. Unless you downloaded something that contains malware from an untrusted network, you should be fine.

Just to be safe, you can post the wallet link for users to check if the file you downloaded is free from any malware/viruses. Like some also mentioned, as long as your antivirus on your PC is working, then you should not worry about anything.
1956  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rocketpot.io refusing to pay out 170k win on: July 09, 2022, 04:23:04 PM
Well I went to their terms and read regarding the [Promotions and Bonuses] it seems very risky condition, I think you must read it carefully and understand if you did not violate the rules, but as they have said there.
[ 9.5. Rocketpot may amend, reclaim, refuse or cancel any promotion at any time at its own discretion ]
Let us hope that their team will answer this thread as [efialtis] said above, that is a great help to this issue and also may not ruin their reputation since their ANN thread [1] was inactive recently.
[1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178376.0

While gambling companies are free to stipulate anything under their TOS, that kind of stipulation, however, may be attended with too much discretionary powers to them. They must at least have some basis in order to cancel, amend, or refuse any promotion. Though it is under their discretionary powers, they must act within without any grave abuse to keep their playerbase strong.

I hope OP you continue to update us regarding this issue as this truly baffles my mind.
1957  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportbet.io lock my account. I cant play game or withdrawal on: July 09, 2022, 02:02:23 PM
I’m a new member at sporbet. 6/7 i deposited $80 in USDT and play more games( slots and live game)
after 2 days i win $3600. But when i placed the withdrawal order, it didn't work
They locked my account and asked me to KYC,  i finished it but they said: " Please note that your account was disabled due to being flagged for multi accounting by our security systems.""

But i have 1 account in sportbet.io and I won that money by luck.

https://imgur.com/a/p9m4Qiy

I am pretty sure that sportsbet.io has an active customer service support. Not to mention, they also have an ongoing campaign signature, so contacting them with your issue will not be not too much of a hassle.

While this may be your issue, you may also check their TOS if you violated some of their rules to give you a broad understanding. But in reality, I doubt that sportsbet would lock your account without any valid reason as they have a reputation to maintain.
1958  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake making new accounts is too easy on: July 08, 2022, 11:49:30 PM
So I decided to have a bit of fun on stake casino. From a little fun turned into a huge addiction...

Despite their efforts to promote a sustainable and helpful means to combat gambling addiction, remember that they are still a company that is profit-driven.

The problem here is not Stake, but your overall attitude in gambling. While it may be easy to create an account on their website, your addiction is what keeps you from coming back and registering on them. You are only 16 years old- your have a life that is way more than gambling. Try your best to change your habits and create some sort of discipline.

If you are having trouble to control this, then I highly suggest you consult with your parents about this in order to prevent yourself from becoming addicted further.

1959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Recent Experience at a Land-Based Casino on: July 08, 2022, 11:38:59 PM
If you were the casino manager would you fire the casino worker for interfering with your business or would you ban the gambler from visiting the casino?

This is a good question and the answer is somehow difficult to respond.

Given that all gambling companies aim for profit, there must be at least some boundary to know on how you would you approach your clients. The problem is, if you prevent someone from gambling, you are taking away some profit on the side of the business; on the other hand, if you do not stop the person from gambling then you are slowly seeing his suffering from such addiction which affects entirely his family.

If I were the manager, I would definitely ban the person from entering the establishment. While profit may be the main focal point of gambling companies, this can be done with other means- meaning, if you clearly see someone destroying their lives with such business, then it is nothing but obvious to prevent them from further destroying their career.
1960  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie with 100$ on: July 08, 2022, 11:30:16 PM
In this bear market, does 100$ on Ethereum or Bitcoin make any difference? As a newbie who have only 100$ to risk is this even enough? Can this get me anywhere?

This depends on your goal whether you want to focus on short or long-term investment.

$100 worth of ETH or BTC can go a long way especially if you consider investing it for long-term. Imagine, BTC reached an ATH of around $60,000 this year. Though its price may have been significantly reduced, the fact that it reached that kind of price implies that it may recover and pump again in the unforeseeable future. In the event that such happens, your $100 would be tripled- something that everyone wishes to happen.

This all boils down if that $100 of yours is something that you are freely disposable- meaning whether you lose or gain, it does not entirely affect your finances at all.
